Is this the WORLD'S WORST maintained footpath? I clean it up for the public to use!

This was a crazy overgrown footpath which I cleaned up with the Wright Stander B 32 and the new Greenworks 82v Commercial battery line trimmer.
I enjoy making these satisfying lawn videos and some people find the ASMR aspect of them relaxing.
If you are interested in any of the equipment I'm using, check out my new page Turf and Tools / @turfandtools where I review equipment that I am sent and use. If you'd like to send something for me to show, send me an e-mail timthelawnmowerman@gmail.com
Hi! My name is Tim The Lawnmower Man and I love to clean up overgrown yards and make fun videos doing it. I'm able to do them for free as these videos have ads on them and the revenue from that enables me to cover my cost.
I'm always looking for the worst yards around. Sometimes I drive around looking for them, sometimes viewers send me suggestions.

I live in the states. The same exists here. Main example. Next door to me is city owned property. Has not been mowed since last September. But city interstate property across the street is cut every 3 weeks. Wait, there's more. My neighbor 5 houses down from me is the guys who controls the lawn maintenance department. He has to pass that corner lot every day to enter or leave the block. I am 6'4 wearing my work boots. The grass now on its 2nd growth this year is well over 8 feet tall. I use to cut it when I was in my 20s and 30s. Turning 60. Yeah, body too old for that stress.

(if they do at all anyway...) Until the property is built upon, and occupied, councils should be able to charge a quarterly levy that goes directly to this kind of thing (and if it is council land, it should be managed properly... keeping footpaths from being a hazard (tripping, fire, vermin etc), forcing kids to ride bikes on the road, or dog walkers onto the road, or collecting the rubbish that blows around in the long grass or that is dumped there by others, being sources of weeds that can spread and blocking drains and gutters because of the lack of maintenance and making sure that services and utility pits can be easily found and accessed... Over had to invest in my own cheaper items to maintain my own area. Now all I need is a bush trimmer. Our bushes are supposed to be 4ft tall, they're almost to the top of my 8 foot iron post and my hummingbirds, Orioles and catbird are constantly shaking their heads hunting for their food lol Serious! They should take jail inmates and take 4 of them to areas to keep up places like what you're doing. I know when I lived in Mississippi, inmates put a lot of landscaping businesses to shame. Free labor, and they always want to get out, so use them I say. Have a great week as you're already there or near there❤❤

You do find important things to work on. That looked like a narrow footpath through dirt. The end result was quite different. Thanks for making the sidewalk viable to walk. This is so bad, a hazard for collecting rodents and garbage, and time consuming to clean in this poor condition, that it would perhaps work to break the work down in to smaller sections for available time. The outer grass could be mowed next and finally the inside slope next to the fence Trimmed. I recognize that the owner is "making no money" on land not yet being built on, but the least contribution, as far as responsibility to the community, might be for gas, trimmer line, green hauling and a meal. Perhaps, being in construction, they would know solutions and have something like an available dumpster/bin. Nice work Tim.

Oh my goodness Tim! I cannot believe the owner of the property or the area council haven’t done anything……what a health issue AND also an OHS DISASTER! AS YOU MENTIONED…….SHAME ON THEM!!! You are wonderful, with a caring heart to have done the foot path allowing access to those with mobility aids. Abundant Blessings Tim. ❤️

It looks like the council should be reimbursing you for services. The least they can do is replace your line and gas used. Can't believe how much better that area looks. Thanks for being you Tim.

Well done Sir, fantastic transformation. Nice to see that the man who alerted you to this came up and said thankyou. Sometimes just that make the effort worthwhile. There's a new park where my mum lives in Banbury, UK. When the housing developer had finished a new housing estate, they started building the park but they wouldn't officially allow access to anyone as they kept that Harris fencing all around the site until it was officially signed off, despite the grass was immaculate. (especially one piece whichwould have been football stadium standard) Everyone was using it getting through the gaps. Now its been finished, although most of the grass isn't up to knee height yet, just the large increase in weeds gives it an unkempt feel. The really smart part of the grass now has "baby heads" clumps on it so its now not the easiest for kids to play footy on. The council may take it on but they're no doubt too busy looking after the boroughs dignitaries gardens!!!

I used to live around the corner from this water retention pond. Forced onto the streets when going for a walk. Snakes, mice came out of the grass. People just dump excess concrete, building rubble old lounges etc. Spoke to Blacktown Council they replied via letter stating they don’t have the budget to maintain these areas or the footpath surrounding them. They also said its up to the adjoining property owners to maintain these areas. Great job Tim for assisting the community. This is 1 of about 18/20 around that area.

If someone were injured due to council's neglect they would be liable , then they would HAVE to find awarded damages in their budget . If this were outside a house I'd say homeowner should do the maintenance as is the norm , however this looks 100% council responsibility to me .

Funny that you should raise this Tim. My local council here in London has given up mowing the nature strip outside our homes for cost cutting reasons. I have taken to doing the bit in front of my house and the four adjoining houses on myself, as has another neighbour for the next three houses along. Outside the other houses no one cuts the grass and it now looks like a wheat field! Very ugly and a fire risk in drought conditions. Can also encourage vermin and eventually overgrow the pavement. Good job mate. I guess Im doing the same thing on the other side of the planet!

The councils should be responsible for maintaining footpaths and nature strips. Vacant land is either awaiting development or is waiting for owners to build. You’re in NSW Tim, I’m in Victoria, if a vacant block/strip looked like this the council would contact you to clear; if you don’t they do it and you get charged the cost. Thank you Tim for caring about footpath, it’s best to use whether elderly or young, no one should have to use the road. Blessings

The homeowners in the neighborhood would be concerned if lightning struck that dried out grass and caused a fire that was headed toward their homes. All that dry grass is such a fire hazard.

Tim, you made that look so good that now the tall grass on the sides will never get cut. I would take your video to the city or whoever is responsible, show them the video and give them a bill for your work. If they would pay you, which I doubt, you could always donate the money to charity.

In the USA, maintenance on these storm water retention ponds would typically be the responsibility of city public works or HOA if one had been established. Since this is a new neighborhood, it should be easy for homeowners to check paperwork and start raising hell assuming they are paying taxes to have these areas maintained. PS - area looks sharp after you cleared it!
