Forget about Natural resources. The world has far moved from Natural resources to technology and industrialization. So natural resource without harnessing it's potential through technology and science is trash.

The three stars do not represent what you said. The three stars represent the motto of Burundi( Unity, Work, and Progress). It was only a coincidence that Burundi has three social groups( not ethnic groups). Unfortunately, hardliner extremists have made the entire world believe that the three stars represent Hutu, Tutsi, and Twa. That is a lie, and people should refrain from using that information because it is misleading. Saying hi in Kirundi is not Umeze Ute. That’s Kinyarwanda/ Kifumbera, or Kinyamulenge. While these languages are similar and people understand what you say, no Burundian says Umeze ute to say hi. If they choose to use that way, they say umeze gute? In Kirundi they say amaki; gute, or bite, mwaramutse, Mwakeye or Bwakeye,….! However, I as someone who knows the area well, I do not blame you for those mistakes but the person who is helping you (Elsie or Kessy). She is using fake and information picked up from the road. Anyways thank you for your video. It is informative.

As a white American, I have 2 different concepts of what wealth is. One is financial wealth, but the other is a type of wealth based on contentment, a happy outlook, people generally being friendly, and affordable food and water being available. Based on this video, my impression is that Burundi is wealthy in the second way, which I consider more important than the first.

The question is how do you define poverty. I visited Burundi last year didn't know much about it - I had heard that it was the poorest country in the world. In terms infrastructure some cities are more developed than others. In general its clean, the people are friendly , economically I don't know what industries Burundi has I am guessing agriculture is one of them as there is a lot of greenery. I just think the country needs time and investment into their infrastructure. Otherwise happy helpful people sometimes that counts more than material wealth.

You totally right. In other hand, you cannot blame them for being poor cause they have been in civil war its just 15 years they got out of that . Burundi is a reach country full off healthy crops ,good environment . People are more friendly than any other country in worldwide 🌐. And other more. Those who claimed that Burundi is poorest country, they may have a political issues.

Do not compare Burundi to European countries. Each country is rich depending to its people, its natural ressources, its culture ,,its agricultural products etc. Of course the country has some weaknesses as others have their own. Thanks to some of us who are trying to talk about the beauty of our nation.

I'm loving the post. What Elcie said is powerful. She rejects the label given to Burundi as being the poorest country in the world because of its greenery and the food and its culture and last but not least its people. Burundian people are friendly and welcoming. They're helpful. Besides its natural beauty and natural resources, the people of Burundi make its wealth. I'm in agreement with that smart and beautiful beautiful Burundian young lady. There are challenges but with hard work and dedication they'll 'make it to the mountain top."

Burundi is a beautiful country. Labels that consider us as the poorest aren't good enough to tell the truth. They say DRC is poor, ignoring that it has one of the richest land .

🌲🌳👍👌 Last time I watched a White Guy showing Downtown Burundi he did not show us how ⚘BEAUTIFUL🌷the City looks but showed the ghetto side of Bujumbura. BURUNDI IS BEAUTIFUL. 🇨🇦🇰🇪 👉🇺🇬 My Question is: Why didn't UGANDA President Museveni not advise Ugandans to Start Speaking SWAHILI like the other East African countries? Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, South Sudan, Burundi, DR CONGO and beyond ALL SPEAK SWAHILI. I fell sorry for some of the Ugandans who travel to these Countries because some of them cannot speak SWAHILI while their President Museveni speaks fluent SWAHILI.👈

Bse Ugandans are proud of their languages and it shall never change. Swahil is only spoken by armed forces in Uganda. Its not even taught in government schools, so don't blame us when we don't speak it. That's we.

Your friend Elsie, is very nice, and very well informed. It is good to have someone like that, if only to prevent you from being ripped off by the locals, lol! I am wondering though, Josey, why there were so many people sitting and queuing up, in that building where you went for your sim card?
