Is This the Most Pro-Life Song Ever?

Rachel Holt released a song called "I Was Gonna Be." The song was written from the point of view of an unborn baby whose life was taken in the womb. It's an extremely arresting song.

I had two friends who had abortions while they were in college. I did not find out until we were all married with children. BOTH women told me that everyone told them how the abortion was going to “fix their problem”. They both also said that NO ONE told them how they were going to feel afterwards. BOTH of them said that after their abortion they have never forgotten. A year after their abortion they would see a year old baby and think that their baby would look like that. And the second year the same. Then the third, and the fourth…… they have NEVER forgotten nor will they. And now that they have children it has become more real to them that they were wrong to abort. As I heard them explain this to me they looked so broken hearted. I pray for my friends every day.

It's a Catholic view. The Bible is very clear that you should be baptized when you can understand the gospel and want to make a an active decision to follow Jesus. Even Jesus waited until he was an adult to get baptized.

We are obviously nervous and going for our first ultrasound this Wednesday and very excited. I know that I heard this song and immediately went to hear it in its entirety and will no doubt cry to it once again. I can't believe the lies young women are told and how many suffer deep regrets because of their decisions. I was a scared 17 year old laying on an abortion table at Planned Parenthood in Houston, Texas in 1978 when they realized it had been overlooked that I was still a minor and could not proceed with the abortion. My father was deceased and I knew my mother would not sign a consent form. Thankfully, my precious baby girl was born, and now, 45 years later, she has her own daughter (my granddaughter) who now writes songs and sings because her mother was ‘given a chance’. Abortion wipes out generations that could have been, that should have been. No one likes to believe that every decision we make affects other people. I wish this song could be played before anyone could proceed with an abortion. Keep writing. Keep singing. And we will keep sharing. If it helps ONE child be born to fulfill his/her purpose, it will be worth it. Paula Enloe, Author “Lessons From My Mirror - Change Begins With Me”

It was explained by my pastor with a theologian degree that a child has to reach an age of accountability (which differs for each child) or have an understanding of what sin is before the Lord would send them to Hell for the rejection of salvation. So an aborted child would have never been able to reach that point of accountability.

Now, as we get older, we are definitely responsible for our own salvation. As much as I love my teenagers, I don't automatically assume they will go to heaven if God forbid something happens to them. So God can speak to the soul of the unborn & I can't imagine they would reject that love.

Michael my wife and I suffered 3 miscarriages. It's the most painful thing I ever went through. To say they might not get to heaven due to lack of baptism doesn't take into account baptism by desire and baptism by blood. Even if that doesn't qualify as baptism by blood, Gods mercy would have to bring them to Heaven or why would the life have begun in the first place. It's had to be childless not by choice and to hear the Anti-life people say abortion is the same as miscarriage is agonizing. I also feel all those pains you applied to the abortive parents, when I see my friends kids and my nieces and nephews and think my kids could have been their age had they gotten to live. Miscarriage is the hardest experience because there's no funeral, no visitation, just grieving alone with my wife.

I have had a miscarriage as well. The religion that I associate with (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day saints) we believe that children are not able to sin or to be held accountable until the age of 8 (that is why we have them baptized at 8). We also believe in baptisms for the dead where we can baptize those who didn't have the chance on this earthly existence. It is their choice to accept it or not. :)

We entrust those babies to God's infinite mercy which is the basis for our hope for them. Yet, we do not have knowledge, God hasn't revealed that to us. Original sin is real, the necessity for baptism is real, and also God's mercy and universal will to save humanity are real. Hope and leave it up to Him.

When King David committed adultery with Bathsheba, it resulted in pregnancy, and the Lord sent the Prophet Nathan to tell David that, because of his sin, He would take the child in death. David responded by grieving and praying for the child. But once the child died, David's mourning ended. David's servants were surprised to hear this, and He said to them, "While the child was still alive, I fasted and wept. I thought, 'Who knows? The Lord may be gracious to me and let the child live.' But now that he is dead, why should I go on fasting? Can I bring him back again? I will go to him, but he will not return to me." (2 Samuel 12:22-23 NIV) The words of David indicate that infants who die are safe in the Lord. God can apply the sacrificial payment of Jesus to young children and others incapable of repenting of their sins and receiving Jesus as their Lord and Savior. God is eternally good, right, loving, holy, merciful, just, and gracious (Matthew 19:14).

You also said that because he obviously hasn’t accepted Jesus as his savior the first soul he should be concerned about is his own! Also there is no purgatory. We know because Jesus told the thief on the cross next to him after he confessed his faith in Jesus that That Day he would be with Jesus in paradise!

@lilcricket641 while I agree with most of what you said, I disagree with the purgatory point. For that point to work, purgatory would have to exist within our plane of time. However, it exists in eternity, where our concept of time means nothing. Perhaps the barest instant in our time is like a thousand years in purgatory. We don't know, what the ratio is, and I suspect there is no exact ratio, but it is not confined to the limits of our time.

When I was pregnant with my children (both pregnancies) my doctors told my I was a carrier for cystic fibrosis and that my husband needed to be tested for it. My nephew has CF and I wondered why my husband needed to be tested for it. When the doctor explained it to me, they said he needed to be tested to see if he was a carrier also, and if he was, then 1 in 4 of our children could be born with CF. So I was like, ok and? Long story short, they were suggesting that if our child had CF, they wanted to find out so that I could make a more “informed decision.” With utter disgust, I told them it would not change my mind on whether or not I would have our children. Then I explained to them that I didn’t care what condition our children had, abortion was not an option. Period. I despise these doctors for even opening that door to abortion. It blindsided me. I was happy to be pregnant both times and was excited. And these doctors STILL try to push abortion on even the mothers who WANT the baby. They will try to make it seem like the baby wouldn’t have quality of life by naming off some disease they may or may not have and then torture the mother into making some terrible decision by playing on her emotions. It’s absolutely terrible and awful what they do and I can’t express enough how it changed the way I even looked at my doctors after that. I know it’s unchristian of me but I couldn’t help it. It’s evil. 😢

Babies are incapable of sin, and are therefore perfect in Christ. Yes, they go to heaven. "Listen to the words of Christ, your Redeemer, your Lord and your God. Behold, I came into the world not to call the righteous but sinners to repentance; the whole need no physician, but they that are sick; wherefore, little children are whole, for they are not capable of committing sin; wherefore the curse of Adam is taken from them in me, that it hath no power over them; and the law of circumcision is done away in me. And after this manner did the Holy Ghost manifest the word of God unto me; wherefore, my beloved son, I know that it is solemn mockery before God, that ye should baptize little children."

I was married, had 3 children..loved being a mom, was stable but not trying for another. I was taking a medication that apparently made my birth control fail. My doctor told me I had to have an abortion because the baby would have horrible defects and I was pressured so quickly by the doctor and my husband (divorced now), I was scared and felt I didn't have a choice. I still regret not trusting in God and having that baby. Most women are pressured into abortions they don't want.

I was kidnapped and beaten by my older sisters, once at age 17 and once at age 20. The reason? I was pregnant. They held me hostage, made an appointment with George Tiller and forced me to abort. Years later, when I had a son, I bought a grave marker with the names I had picked out for them. The inscription read: “Victims of abortion. Mommy’s sorry. Though I we will not see you on earth, we will join you in heaven”, No one talks about forced abortion. It happens all the time. Now someone can just spike a woman’s drink to cause an abortion. Our country will pay a heavy price for this abomination.

@@jbwetzstein All the evidence that there was a pope from the beginning won't convince anyone who just doesn't want to acknowledge that. The early Church fathers wrote about the importance of being in communion with the Bishop of Rome, so as to remain ONE church, not many with competing teachings. "All that" compiled into the Bible, is a myth. The Bible doesn't contain everything. It was never meant to. It says itself that Jesus did many things, and not all the books in the world could contain it all. He left us with a Church to guide us, not a book. If the Bible were the sole authority, then salvation would evade the illiterate, the unintelligent, and most of those who lived before the printing press made the Bible readily available in the 1500's. John 1:1 - In the beginning there was LOGOS, and LOGOS was with God, and LOGOS was God. That's the original Greek, and the Greeks understood the concept of Logos long before the understood the concept of a triune God. That's why John spoke to them in that way. Logos is much more than "words only" in a book. "Word" is a weak translation of Logos. The seven "extra" books you refer to are the deuterocanonicals, and they were part of the closed canon for all Christians for over 1000 years. There are other books that are actually apocrypha that aren't in any Bibles.
