The Meaning of Pentecost in the Bible
1. Pentecost means 50.
2. Fifty days after Passover, the Jewish feast of Pentecost (Shavuot) was celebrated, which was primarily a thanksgiving for the firstfruits of the wheat harvest, but it was later associated with a remembrance of the Law given by God to Moses on Mount Sinai. At this feast, the Jews were to give God the firstfruits of their wheat harvest.
3. Pentecost also marks 50 days from the time the Israelites left Egypt and arrived at Mount Sinai, where God gave them the 10 Commandments and the Law.
4. Pentecost happened 50 days after Passover. There were 40 days from the resurrection of Christ to His ascension, and then 10 days from Christ’s ascension to Pentecost, for a total of 50 days.
5. Interestingly, the Jewish nation was born at Mount Sinai 50 days after leaving Egypt, and the Church was born at Pentecost 50 days after Christ’s resurrection.
Reasons why Pentecost likely happened at the southern end of the Temple Mount.
1. It is unlikely that Pentecost took place in the Upper Room as a multitude gathered and witnessed this astounding event. The Upper Room couldn’t have handled such a large crowd of 15,000-30,000 (Acts 2:1-6).
2. Scripture says the coming of the Holy Spirit filled a house, it doesn’t mention the Upper Room.
3. The temple is referred to as the House of the Lord, or just house, in many places in the Bible (John 2:17; Matthew 21:12-13). House can also refer to just a covered area as well. At the southern side of the Temple Mount, just above the Southern Stairs, was the Royal Stoa. It was a public meeting place with a large roof. This could have been a likely place where Pentecost began.
4. The Hebrew word for "house" in Acts 2:2 is "Har Ha Bait," which means "the mountain of THE house," or simply put, "the dwelling place of God." This meaning would support the idea that Pentecost most likely took place on the Temple Mount, and then the 3,000 who were saved were then baptized in the many mikvehs by the Southern Stairs.
5. The coming of the Holy Spirit happened at nine in the morning, which was the time of morning prayers at the temple. The disciples regularly went to the temple at the times of prayer (Acts 2:15).
6. Many scholars say that during the Passover in Christ’s time that Jerusalem swelled to around 150,000 people or more. The Temple Mount and Southern Stair area could easily have handled the large crowd of 15,000 - 30,000 who gathered at Pentecost.
7. Acts 2:41 says 3,000 were saved and baptized. Around the Southern Stairs are many mikveh cleansing pools that could have been used for baptizing those who were saved.
8. The Southern part of the Temple Mount would have been a natural place for Pentecost to happen as it was a center of public activities.
9. The Upper Room is over one-half mile (.83 Km.) from the Temple Mount, which is a long distance away. Most likely, too far away for a large crowd to move from to the Temple Mount area for baptisms, etc.
10. The Upper Room area was a residential neighborhood, and there's no reason 15,000-30,000 people would have been there when the events of Pentecost happened that drew such a large crowd.
11. The Southern Stairs and southern part of the Temple Mount is the best candidate for Pentecost as they could easily handle 15,000 - 30,000 people. This area also had all the mikvehs necessary for baptizing and space to handle such a large crowd.

Thank you for your teaching! It always inspires me! I have been to Israel and to the "Upper Room" several times and it just never felt right to me. But also, your teaching at the end where someone is "filled" with the Holy Spirit after believing, also doesn't feel right. Read Acts 2:38 as you did. Why then wouldn't you follow what God had them do on the very first Pentecost? They "heard them speak in tongues"...that's how others knew that they were filled! Also Baptism is in Jesus name "FOR THE REMISSION OF SINS"....not just as an act to show that you are committed to follow Jesus. Love your teaching, but I will pray for your eyes that they would be open to more truth, so you can carry on teaching truthfully, as I do love your teaching, but I want TRUTH . God bless you!

5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism; 6 one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all....how do you reconcile this obvious contradiction? Just wondering. There is water baptism in the river Jordan as a ceremonial washing of sin. There is baptism OF the Holy Spirit where Israelites received gifts to help endure to the end including communication with people who don't speak your language, and baptism BY the Holy Spirit into Christ. Baptism is immersion.

@@davidortega357 Right. Remission. Look up the word. After the fall of Israel, who Acts 2 is about, God's enemies were reconciled to him at the cross. Not imputing their trespasses to them. He purified their hearts by faith, if they believe and confess. Nothing more. Peter believes he will be saved, as we already are.

it says 3000 were added to the church, as many as would be saved, that implies they obeyed and abided in Christ unto death, it doesn't mean they prayer a prayer and were once saved always saved like its taught today with no regard to repentance, carrying cross daily, etc.

They did a lot more than repeat a prayer for OSAS Salvation, they surrendered their life to Christ: they continued steadfastly in the apostles doctrine ... it says the Lord added daily such as should be saved, its not saying they got 'saved' at the moment they joined the church or prayer a prayer but that through obedience and abiding they would be saved/such as would be saved, BIG DIFFERENCE! Acts 2:41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. 42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. 43 And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles. 44 And all that believed were together, and had all things common; 45 And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need. 46 And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, 47 Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

The overall message was biblical, causing one to search the Scriptures to see if these things are so, and the videos interesting and appropriate. Thank you very much. I do have some questions: edited to add: The disciples were scared to death of being found by the Jewish leaders, so would they likely have been on the Temple Mount? ------------------ A. What year, month, and day did you film this? Obviously it was not when you uploaded it on 2023/2/18. B. You say Acts 2:2 in the Hebrew Bible mentions a house on a mountain. The Greek does not mention that. Are you saying Acts was written first in the Hebrew language? Or perhaps that was in the original Greek but later lost? C. You rightly mention that Jesus was crucified on Passover, and then this outpouring of the Holy Spirit happened exactly on the prophesied day - Pentecost. Remember that this is also the day that the fire of God was seen on Mt. Sinai. So my main question is: With all these biblical commandments, statutes, and judgments being carried out in the life of Jesus Christ and his disciples, why don't more Christians today keep the 7th day Sabbath and Feasts of the Lord?

Proselytes did. See Paul's letter to the Romans. They are gentiles and Paul said they are "called" Jews. They were circumcised on the 8th day, or converted as adults. I do not have an everlasting covenant of circumcision, so I do not keep the law. After God divorced Israel for adultery, he made the gentiles whole by grace. We did not earn it. He said to drive Israel to jealousy. So, that is why I don't keep the feasts. Great question, probably why the channel host didn't answer. Coincidentally, I posted them in my comment.

Great presentation. However PLEASE don't call these believers baptized on the day of Pentecost CHRISTIANS! They were not Christians. They were Jews who accepted their Jewish savior Yahshua They were not even familiar with that name. Christian was not a name given by Christ/Messiah but a name which the gentiles in Antioch called the believers there. The believers on Pentecost, were Jews who accepted their Jewish savior Yahshua. They came to the Temple to celebrate Pentecost as Torah keeping Sabbath keeping, Feast keeping Kosher keeping Jews. They were not given instructions to not come back to the temple or to stop keeping the Sabbath or Feasts or dietary laws.
