So what I've noticed browsing the shops of Moza and Fanatec: Moza offers their prices with VAT excluded whereas prices on the Fanatec EU store are with tax included. So in my case, being in Germany, that's at least an extra 19% VAT on the Moza gear if I were to order it. In the end, it comes out as more expensive than a comparable Fanatec rig. Something that should be taken into consideration.

I think it’s important to point out that Moza is not necessarily trying to market their products to entry-level sim racers. I see comments about the pricing of these products. I started out with a Thrustmaster T150 and had plenty of fun with it. I hate to see people not getting started in sim racing because they see all this higher end stuff and get discouraged by the pricing. Please realize that products like this are intended for someone who has raced for a while and wants to upgrade or just has the budget to buy this. I think it’s great that Thrustmaster and Logitech wheels are being sold to fill the entry-level demand. I would like to upgrade my Fanatec CSW v2.5 to a direct drive some day. I’m going on my fifth year in sim racing and have upgraded my equipment, but I gave the T150 a try for a little over a year to make sure this was the hobby for me. This wheel looks really nice, just don’t let this turn you off from the hobby when there are alternatives to get you started.

I'm always playing around with my brake force settings and can do that directly on my Formula V2.5 wheel. Another thing Moza needs to get is a Playstation license. Just a correction there, the Fabatec Formula V2 is 280 millimeters (or 28 centimeters), not 28 millimeters, same as Moza GS that it's 300 millimeters (30 centimeters) not 30 millimeters... I tend to think that 350 - 400 dollars low force 3nm DD wheel pack with steering wheel and pedals as entry level is something that may appear on the market soon. It's just a technology evolution after gear based and belt driven systems. With commercial versions those can come smaller in size than actual g27 etc. High end DD wheel market is not big enough for multiple manufacturers to fight for.

@Brian Boulter DD users may be less than 5% of sim racing wheel users , millions are satisfied with the cheap 300-400 dollars wheel packages base + rim. Logitech G series are 2.5nm but lot of users don't use them at full 100% FFb. A 3nm DD wheel with the FFB details that it can deliver would be a nice affordable upgrade already. Only users that tried the 10nm+ dd base know that it's better than a 3nm dd wheel it's a matter of both technical and psychological approach

I've been interested. As someone who's been waiting for the QR2 to replace my DD2's QR1 and.. all of my rims QR1's. The only thing thats really stopping me is, I guess.. Moza has the style and price, but not the final quality! From what I've experienced, its abit strange? like the GS wheel as you showcased, their quality is weird? they have high quality materials mixed with some of the worst plastics and the buttons, the PCB's themselves are.. hit or miss as well. One thing I can say about FANATEC, regardless of just how pricey they are, you are getting a high quality product, thats assured! Plus, alongside that, you get, atleast in my case, quality customer service. My DD2 is one of the first few FANATEC sold, so.. it had some issues with the Motor and OLED. Whilst it was a hassel, I sent it off and I was told, I'll receive it in a months time. The very next week, I get a tracking number and even a call to apologize. It arrived within a few days of that call, new motor, new OLED, and with it, for some reason, a Podium Hub. So.. that was nice. As for Moza, from what my friends have experienced, only one of them have received their R12 after having them completely die on them. The rest have been waiting for months, with little communication, so now they've demanded their unit or a refund. Moza has the potential to really push Fanatec to begin producing more budget products. I love my DD2, but.. its not that hard to design a sterdy quick release system. We 3D printed our own, that had zero place, course it broke, its still plastic afterall. Jist is. If Moza can sort out their inconsistencies, the R9 alone can send Fanatec into a panic. The QR system is superb and.. is straight out of GT cars. Also.. expecting Fanatecs QR2 to cost an arm an a leg, so.. yea Moza can really chase down Fanatec.

I really like your reviews and channel. I'll explain why the plastic is used on the front instead of carbon fiber. I've been running a plastic injection molding business for 35 years and it's much easier and cheaper than doing the carbon fiber. In this case the molds to make the parts would be relatively inexpensive due to the simplicity of the design. Yes you can lay carbon fiber up for the shapes the buttons protrude through but it's labor intensive, takes a lot of time and would drive the cost up to a point that we would probably complain about the price. Even the flat plastic behind the rotary encoders would take time if done in carbon fiber because you would have to drill the holes out for the stems to come through. You've just about made my mind up for me with your thorough drive testing on 3 different sims. I'm thinking about getting the r9 since I have a Fanatec CS 2.5. I'm 58 so I don't need arm breaking torque settings anymore but I would like your opinion on whether I would see a decent jump in immersion. I know the wheel I want to use is a little heavier and would take some of the detail out but I was happy to hear you say that you felt like there was headroom with the torque with the formula wheel you used. I'm wanting to pair it with the RS V2 Steering Wheel. Thanks for any help you can offer, if you have time. God bless

I upgraded to an Alpha Mini with the GT4 rim recently from a TS-PC and it's been an amazing experience. Feels very worth the money. However, Simagic has a pretty restrictive review policy for sending out demo units and apparently can impose editorial control over content. I think that's a big reason why we don't see as much content on YT for Simagic gear despite how good a quality and value proposition it is.

Gotta say the small entry level R5 bundle is pretty cheap, probably the cheapest Direct Drive wheel there is. Considering most people probably don't want potentially damaging the hand the smaller torque is probably the best option. For example I have the T300RS and it's Torque is only around 4nm, the R5 is 5nm. And it's a similar price and the T300 isn't DD it's belt driven, not that it's a bad wheel though. It's still only a couple of years old, so when I consider upgrading I very well may get this brand.

I have a CSL DD and a set of CSL-Elite LC pedals. The gripes I have are, the plastic QR is junk. Replace it with the Metal QR1 ASAP. The pedals while looking nice are poorly designed. Fanatec was smoking something when they thought to glue a loadcell to the arm of the brake pedal. And don't get me started about the potentiometers. So the pedals are on their way out too. The base is fine if you get a trouble free variant. But if the R9 were available when I ordered the CSL-DD, I'd have a Moza wheelbase.

Don’t forget csl dd uses a lot more aluminum and copper than Logitech does which are currently Harder to come by. All I’m sayin is it’s not up to fanatec bc if it was they’d have already got a lot more out there. Why would a company not want to make more money? Now how they deal with the customers is a different story but it’s just odd to me people like to blame fanatec for not being able to produce more than they can as if they are the ones making the decision not to
