Today we are reviewing ANOTHER watch from Baltany, a brand that does a lot of old military homages. This one is a take on the Rolex Explorer in 36mm, and I must say they did an amazing job. They combined the modern age applied markers and polished hands with vintage looking matte dial with gilt text and minute hashes. This and the domed sapphire crystal combined give a watch that is actually more legible than the real Rolex Explorer. Since i own one, we'll be making a comparison as well. Baltany also does this in 39, but this 36mm version is really perfect in size, escpecially since it is a TRUE 36mm unlike Rolex that wears more like a 34-35mm watch making it look dainty compared to this one.
The finish quality is really good, especially considering the price of $220, and the watch is powered by a realy no-date movement, Seiko NH38, which beats at 21.600bph and comes with both hacking and hand winding.

I was close to pulling the trigger on the 39mm version but opted for a 39mm white dial version made by Cronos. This is beautiful though.
They've upgraded the bracelet from polished centre links to a fully brushed finish. Very nice indeed!
With that wide bezel, I’m convinced that’s the same case used on San Martin’s 36mm Explorer homage (version 1), which I have. I also have the Version 2, but I find myself wearing the version 1 more.

The design works for me.
The size and color of numerals and indices looks a lot more balanced on the Rolex. White instead of yellowish would already be a significant improvement on the Baltany. Not that I'm into this model anyway ( though you have the best size imo, I've handled the 39mm and it feels weird ), I really dig the Smith's more than the Rolex and it has the perk of having its history as well.

I don't like the Explorer anyway, or any Rolexes really, but stamp 'Rolex' on that Baltany and no-one would have noticed anything awry. Esp if you put it on a NATO strap like your Explorer.
I have a Tisell for the same price....much closer to the specs and a better movement.
Just bought this 36mm Baltany, black dial. It's super nice, the crystal is incredible, and video/pics don't quite do it justice. Only thing better about the Rolex is the name. It's a lot heavier than I was expecting (like a Rolex) and my only gripe (and I'm nitpicking) is I wish it had better micro adjustments and smoother fitting clasp. But for $220 . . .
Nice watch, but a bit too chunky looking. The fauxtina was a bad choice IMO.

Armida A6 is better. My only complaint is the thickness.
Not a fan of Rolex, not a fan of Explorer but need to admit that original looks better.

Baltany’s use of the faux patina lume is irritating. It’s too try hard. They should try to match Tudor’s perfected aged cream lume tone, which is subtle, or just use standard white lume. I still may get Baltany’s diver, but it suffers from the same awful tryhard faux lume tone as this explorer homage.
