@@keithmorgan742 I guess the cow doesn't go moo it "Says" moo? What does the ting do rather than go skrrrrra? The thing with language is it breeds and empowers creativity, and it develops with its speakers. Yes, it would be equally valid, and possibly more precise to use "said", but it's devoid of emotion. It doesn't portray the emotion, the barbarity of the action, the whole body interaction. It is not sufficient in this context. The useage of "go" to mean "say" (although "utter" might be a preferred synonym there) is not exactly new. It's something people understand and use colloquially. It's probably time to accept that. If you must take it from a person you trust, take it from charles dickens, back in 1836: ‘Yo-yo-yo-yo-yoe,’ went the first boy. ‘Yo-yo-yo-yoe!’ went the second." [The Pickwick Papers, ch.9]

@@erick4923 I strongly disagree, they were both well known hyper aggressive players (pretty sure Tran had been on a televised WPT event by that time… or am I being racist and getting mixed up I dont know - same shirt). That’s how they got their chips. If you think they’re ABC players then that’s where the confusion is. They were both sat at the table playing each other and knew each other’s style. Now I’m not going to say there was a whole lot of finesse and skill, but it is still great pure poker of mind and heart over what hands beat what. That’s why Texas hold ‘em became the championship game. Because limit hold ‘‘em etc was more about pot odds/implied odds and hold ‘‘em was about having heart. Additionally if you play it that safe you’ll do well in cash games, but you’ll rarely win a major title (which takes a huge amount of luck anyway as I’m sure you know. But the legends of the game like Stu Ungar hero calling with J high - they knew the player and could read them enough to know what hands their opponent didn’t have.

Not really. He could easily check a full house there. 97suited or 77 would take this exact line. 3bet bluff pre. bet big on flop. call the 3bet on the flop to trap. Check turn to disguise when having the board locked up. Polarize bet river. It's also a pot control check bc after he calls that 3bet on the flop Tran is very very unlikely to bet again on the turn.

Great read, but both players were playing like maniacs in this hand. Tran was super lucky to river the best hand. I wish the river was a 🧱. It would have been interesting to see what Tran would do with a $165K river bet playing the board. Would he have bluff raised or just waive the white flag. We'll never know.
