Cheers for the reverse P pickup on this, which works better for me than the traditional one. I find the overall tone more balanced that way

definitely the better balance between EA/DG strings. Better anchor spot for the right hand too, closer to the humbucker sweetspot

@@thejoetandyI have a '95 jackson with a reverse split coil, and it is nice to have that option, balances out a j-bass bridge pickup well

No they're not. Don't get me wrong, the Harley Benton is great, for the price amazing value and I even got one, but it doesn't come close to fit and finish of a Sandberg.

Cmon, really? It's like saying Bentley and McLaren are really worried about the new mazda lineup.
Really like this one. I was never really convinced of the P/MM configuration because the MM is too far back to sound like a Stingray. But now I see it's more like a PJ, but better.
Thank you Gregor, and thank you Sophie, you guy’s rock!
Warmly welcoming Sophie! Awesome video! Awesome chops!
As someone who has owned 5 HB basses, yes it is, this one stood tall above the others. I am not kidding when I say it felt almost as good to play as a USA Fender
This is great bass, highly recommended it for the money. Much appreciated having this available in a lefty! I would buy a 5 string if it was available.

1up for the 5 string!
I like the bass player. She demos the bass with good sensibility.
Hey Sophie, nice versatile playing! Perfect for showing what´s in the Bass. On top you have the fitting Bass Face too, very good! Ahh yes, the Bass sounds awsome.
I have the natural finish version of this bass. I swapped out the bridge pickup for a Nordstrand Big Blademan. It's my favorite bass, even over my expensive Ibanez and Spector basses. You can't go wrong buying this bass.
I'd love to see this in other colours too. Maybe a few natural options with nice tops? Or even one with no pickguard, like the Charvel San Dimas
Im loving the Harley Benton BZ-4000 II NT i just purchased thing is a beast of a bass
Nice work Mz Sophie😊 Always a pleasure Mr Gregor. Thanks.
The body and hardware are good. Love the roasted maple neck but, realistically speaking the pickups are a little muzzled and it would sound a whole lot better with a 3 band eq. However you do get a lot of bang for your buck. Additionally it would make a great mod project. I know some of the Harley Benton fanboys will be offended. I'm just being honest.

Agreed. I have the Anniversary and natural finish models modded with Nordstrand pickups and preamp(natural has an Underhill filter preamp). Both sounded okay stock, but great now.

🤘😎🤘 awesome bass, I have the natural and the white models. Sophie is an amazing player too ❤️
Awesome ❤❤❤❤
Welcome Sophie !
Nice looking and sounding bass.
I like the use of roasted maple in entry level basses, but the last 6-12 months the lack of quality control on the roasting of the wood is making some necks to look way darker than the fingerboard slabs, many brands seem to be affected by it, so im guessing its the roasted maple supplier in SEA thats the problem. In a 300€ bass i find it to be somewhat acceptable, but on a bass like this that coss 500€ is totally unacceptable.
I wonder how it compares to the Sandberg basses with the same configuration. I recently played a Sandberg with just the humbucker in the bridge and man, what a sensational bass. I still dream about it lol.

It would get you close, but it will not sound and feel like a real Sandberg. I got a Harley Benton because I thought it would, but some things were off right out the box. The poti knobs are really cheap and fell off (no big deal not a expensive part to replace). Also the fret ends were a bit sharp. But the preamp was just unusable and with it, the bridge pickup alone was almost not usable. Introduced very much hiss in the signal chain when engaged and overpowered everything, but not in a good way. I changed mine to a Glockenklang 2-band eq and the bass came more to life. As I had the pickguard off to change the electronics I also noticed that a part of the body in the electronics compartment broke of where it should hold a screw in. So all in all like all cheap instruments, a 50:50 chance of getting something amazing or something where the quality controll just lacks.

It’s not a Sandberg. However for the price this bass is happening. Kudos for the zero fret. The weight is not bad. The neck is killin’. Preamp to me sounds cheesy. Change out the preamp and maybe the pickups and this bass is an amazing deal. But not a Sandberg.
Wouldn't that be the BZ-4000 II NT? Thanks for the commentary and playing. All the best.
Welcome Sophie
5 string but with double HB config 😉👌🏼
And it has zero fret, a feature I love!
YAY FOR BASS
New talent!
I picked up a left handed one. I'm amazed at the quality at this price point. Destroys any Fender Player series and several American Pro models I've played too. Sound, craftsmanship, everything is first rate.
OMG! Looks like a carbon copy of my very first bass, which was a SANDBERG!
I guess, Thomann got some gold basses to sell. Do you know why they are good? Because the blue and nature ones were also very good. A very good bass. I like the pickup-combination. With a good preamp or electronic it is a as good as more expensive ones. Hope the gonna build more without roasted maple and without stainless steel frets. Too much work after buying it. And the wood is not the same like good closen wood or when dried naturally.
Pretty cool bass . . . will we see you at NAMM?

Nope, I’ll be here testing all the NAMM news from the comfort of my studio 😉
I'm a simple man, I see Sophie playing a bass, I hit like.
You've already tested the bass once. Has anything changed in terms of weight, weight distribution and the MM pickup? Is the roasted neck worth the extra cost?

Nothing has changed and I think roasted maple is always better. Sounds, feels and looks nicer
Warm welcome!
I bought this bass. Astonishing finish, great look. The neck (shape + feeling + finition) is absolutely gorgeous. But unfortunately, both electronics and pickups are very bad. I mean VERY bad. After a little hesitation (I really loved the look, so I thought maybe I could replace the pickups), the bass was sent back to Thomann. *** J'ai acheté cette basse. Finition etonnante, super look. 😢
They need a 5 string version. i don't need another 4 string lol. A 5 string version of this and i'm straight on Thomann.
My Harley Benton BZ-4000 NT preamp was buzzing and scratching, then, just died today.🤔✌️
Is it the best HB bass? Sure looks like it!
To pbass picks are more precise
👍👍👌
"FTT FTT FTT FATTNESS!" It sounds great!
Wish they made a 5 string version of this.

$500 harley benton.. I am now curious what Harley Benton can do with a $1000 budget.
Every Harley Benton with stainless steel frets is a good HB in my eyes. Shows these greedy big names that you can offer stainless steel on under 2k€ models as well
Sophie is very fine!
CAN SOMEONE PLEASE POST A MOD VIDEO WITH THIS BASS? CHANGED PICKUPS AND PERHAPS EVEN A NEW PREAMP ETC? T

Would look a lot better without the fake block inlays and perhaps a orange color or why not a darker natural wood combined with the roasted maple neck? Give people what they want ;)

@@Sophie_Chassee Awesome, I live near Cleveland, Ohio and discovered the band years ago after reading a book in which a pivotal scene takes place in Köln. After watching a video about it, KZread recommended a video of the band playing on the street. Ever since I have been a big fan. I love the new album and hope to see you all play live someday!
No longer available
I love everything about this bass, except I feel like it always sounds like it has the tone turned right down, quite muffled and underwater sounding. Be great with some new pick ups and maybe a new pre amp, I've bought so much off Thomann over the years and their customer service is always fantastic
I dont like basses, but that one its really sexy
