I love bass fishing some days I'll catch and return every one tend to only keep them if they're of a good size or injured, like to use barbless single hooks. It angers me when people keep everything they hook or if they don't respect the outdoors and leave behind discarded fishing line, packaging, drinks bottles, disposable barbecues or worse. I think we need more wildlife rangers as they do in America to fine irresponsible behavior and educate the importance of looking after our wild spaces. Nice fish perseverance paid off, tight lines hope you have a good season.

Totally agree. I also don’t fish areas where those behaviours are prevalent. I so rarely fish around these parts. Thanks for watching 👀
Love the persistance , well done

A great story with a happy ending. Like me with my first wild trout on the fly rod - took 3 years. Well done you.

Well done mate, you got the result in the end. You are right, the place is full of bandits stripping the place.

Totally agree. I have been fishing other marks that I think will produce. But with the conditions I decided to just go for it up at Torness .
Good video mate. A hard earned challenge, keep it up and keep fishing. 🎉❤

Well done! Caught my first bass within 50 yards of where you got your one 26 years ago! Got pissed off at the outflow - too many people for my liking so wondered off down the beach, much more fun. Had fun on the lures in south Devon on family holidays - bass, pollock, garfish and even sea trout.

Yeah it was too unsafe at the outflow. Love a bit of lure fishing and this was a great day :) thanks for the comment

Congratulations on getting your Bass mate. 🎉 I've found at Torness one of the most effective lures is the very "old school" Redgill eel fished 6-8ft behind a bubble float, medium speed retrieve.

Thanks for the tips! Yeah I tried that at the start but I hated the twirlies etc. I prefer the rod action with the lures and top water.
I have also to catch my first bass on a lure. Fished north side of Eyemouth yesterday looked really bassy but not a sausage. Decided to go out to the end and catch some pollock which seem 10 times easier to catch

Yeah I have caught a fair few pollock and coalies down that way. Great fishing. Good luck on the bass hunt. It was great to finally get my first one. Hopefully more to come. :)
Well done mate, a very well deserved fish. Nobody can say you weren't trying. I've just recently started to fish for them from the shore and i feel your pain when you loose one. Finally caught one of 48 cm after weeks of scoping out and trying to figure the best way/ state of tide to fish the area i am fishing. Now to get the yak sorted and try from that to catch one. As you say, when you have put so much time in to try and catch one the feeling is great when you finally do. well done sir.....liked and subbed. Terry.

Same here in Durham coast. Cod and Pollock mainly.
Well done on your first bass! They say the first time is the best for some things but no! Wait until you catch a bigger one😉Ive always angled since I was a child, I run a pier from 2020-2022 them three summers I was the bailiff and unfortunately the Eastern Europeans and the Chinese felt they could take home whatever they like size wise and quantity! I put a quick end to that! 😊 tight lines 🎣

I’m going fishing probably on the pier but is that any good? If so is it rocky?
Day 2 very lucky I know you need be getting wet to catch bass but not worth getting washed of a rock. If they take many fish then shouldn’t they report it to the fisheries. People like that are no better than those that leave there rubbish. Nice bass well done and returned. Congratulations.

Yeah for sure, I don’t know if the talking I gave myself made it into the Final Cut. The fisheries are aware this spot is well known to the local community and law enforcement. Thanks for watching mate. :)
Great stuff 👍 Now the brown , sea trout season has finished I’m trying coastal lure fishing for the first time , is there anywhere up the coast towards Edinburgh you’d suggest to try , any species just want to christen my lure rod .
@elkayakfish

I mean I can tell you lots of places but where you will catch is a different thing. Lure fishing towards Edinburgh isn’t the best for deep water but there are some spots around cockenzie if you have a look on the charts.

Thats what type of ground you want for bass mate they love structure weed beds rocks etc ambush points for them
Lucky if I lived there these people wouldnt be getting away with it. More people need to respect conservation or there will be nothing left.

For sure it’s a total nightmare! I don’t go that often for that reason.
I fished Torness too, got my very first bass there, was minted till I saw the mass murder of so many bass by the so called fishermen, filling big bags with every fish they caught, disgusting, never been back, a mate from work went up spear fishing and only saw one bass, been fished out.
@elkayakfish

Disgusting that like, catch and release always for me, don’t begrudge people taking the odd one they put the effort and time etc in but to keep everyone is wrong.
Never mind, it's closing down soon so all the wallopers will have to find somewhere else .
@elkayakfish

Yeah there is that. Not sure who will last the longest tbh. Torness or the fish!
These scum local poachers are best pals with the Chinese and unfortunately for some unknown reason I've yet to see them in any court for 30 years, i found their nets once full of bass washed up on beach and all were dead. I cut that net into very small bits with anger at the total disrespectful for the fish and our shoreline. As you are now a local lad , you will be aware of the beautiful weir at roundabout, i used to film and look forward to seeing the trout especially when hiding in root of trees for years and everytime in broad daylight the local thugs and visitors that worked destroying the fabulous chestnut tree for fun also the railway area murdered all the trout with their treble hook's with impunity. The mess they left had all the evidence required to convict also their cars yet once again the lazy police ignore them.

You are right about that river spot for sure. Terrible damage. Thank you for promoting me to but together some thoughts about poaching in general. Watch this space. There was a few recent court cases involving a local poacher. Reported in the “reputable” East Lothian courier it’s just very very slow to change.
@rha4374

@@elkayakfish The minority of local fishing boats and some unwelcome visitors have been poaching for years ,also dropping their nets long before they get to the legal limit for fishing which collects the school fish and has an effect of starving the other birds and wildlife that depends on the feeding fish. It's toooooo easy to blame the local poacher or anyone else,why don't the authorities give them the job/responsibility to police our coastline which in turn would be great for everyone, it's better the Devil you know as the Devil you DON'T. Anyways, I've still to catch a bass but TBH I am not sure I want to after what I've witnessed.
