I've made this recipe before (following the original). The eggs do come out well done, but it's not too dry. Either he didn't add enough water or the change in ingredients made it drier. It's super convenient as a one pot meal as it has everything you need!

There’s a woman with a few million followers who does that, even her titles contain words such as the best ever, the most blah, blah, blah, etc. I wouldn’t make any of her pasta dishes even if according to her “the best dish ever” bc not all her sauces start from scratch. There is nor reason for not cooking this in the pot you already use for the vegetables. Just put the rice in, bring it to a boil again, stir, put the eggs in and either cook it on a very low temperature until ready. Or turn the heat off, put a kitchen towel over the lid, let it simmer until ready (similar to using a cooking box). I use this method often for some simple rice dishes.

This is a bastardization of the Chinese dish Naw Mi Fan, which can be made in a Zojirushi. My aunt makes it every thanksgiving. Not sure if the original hacker used glutinous rice but maybe try it again with that.

It is possibly because you are using a dry kind of rice, it looks like jasmine rice to me and they are dry any way you make them. Nishiki sushi rice is pretty easy to buy in North America and you should try using that while cooking an East Asian dish.

I love making rice cooker fried rice. However, I make mine different, and it is not dry. I make my rice like normal, though instead of 1 cup rice I do 1 1/4 cup water. I add 1 tbsp soya sauce, 1 tbsp oil (any kind - I use sesame oil), 1/2 tbsp to 1 tbsp of oyster sauce, 1/2 tsp to 1 tsp of sambal, 1 cup of frozen veggies (the peas, carrots, corn and beans kind), 1 minced garlic, 1 half med onion diced, 1 cup Chinese sausage (you can fry it up if you want), salt and pepper (put more pepper than salt). Turn rice cooker on. I fry my eggs separate and put it last. Add chopped green onions. It has never failed me.

I recommend replacing the long-grain rice with short-grain "Asian" rice plus a little more more water. The rice will be more moist and fluffier .

If you cook your meal like that, be prepared to add more ingredients because the rice will soak up all the flavor while its cooking as opposed to fried rice

Only recommendation for be got is if you’re going to omit the carrot in favor of another veggie add a little bit of sugar to mimic that natural sweetness carrots have, other than that 10/10 id absolutely destroy a bowl

Rice cookers aren't meant to be crockpots. Adding other ingredients messes up the liquid ratios. The potatoes are also absorbing water. That's why his rice was dry, not enough liquid. If you want to do this make sure to compensate with extra water. Even if you do something like broth instead of water you want to add extra liquid. The ratio for pure water is not the same as other liquids. If you really want to do this... use a pressure cooker. It's far better designed to cook something like this. Or just cook the rice alone and stir fry your ingredients afterwards. My rice cooker takes 50 minutes for white rice. Obviously you don't want eggs cooking for 50 minutes.
