Most of the contents are based on dutch A-brands. Like the goulash is "Struyk" meal goulash soup but then slightly more condensed and with potatoes and peas. All 3 soups; chicken (with carrots and pasta rings), beef bouillon and Curry (with croutons) are dutch favourite snacks called "Unox Cup a soup". Typical dutch meals are bland by design. Dutch have a history with a wide variety of spices but want the choice. A typical dutch curtary board for parties will contain crackers, fish spread (tuna in this case, we have something with water), pate spread. So it is actually a luxury item. The writing on te bag is "Hete Kip schotel". Litirally translated, "Hot chicken dish". The "sambal" is supposed to go with it. We dutch live to a high standard and expect to be treated decently, we speak up and are listened to so our MRE's are accordingly. Don't confuse it with lazyness. We like to do things the smart way. War is the next level of political strife. We don't go to war, we solve problems and trade. Food and spices is one of them.

I think the second jam is a Dutch thing called Stroop. It's made from apples and sugar beet. I've never seen it outside of the Netherlands.

I've only had the cocoa bev out of this ration so far before from a compilation box I got from somebody at some point, and that was seriously good stuff, like insanely good! Good stuff, I definitely gotta get one now haha, good review as always sir!

Well as we say in my family, you ain't much if you ain't dutch. Hope you had a great vacation break. hahahahah no that is Tuna Pate. Over all it is a fantastic looking ration. The whole ration looks fantastic. And the meat is chicken, in the spicy chicken stew. Kip means chicken. Wow I miss that dark dutch chocolate and the dutch hot chocolate. Thanks for the awesome video.

Very cool sir. I am sorry I missed live stream. I am behind on watching reviews as well. Sorry for late reply friend, humbled. This is one heck of A 24 Hr. ration Sticky. All components, looked good, and, made 3 good meals, with A few leftover items. Breakfast drinks, biscuits, soup, jam, and pates , looked awesome. Great meal. Lunch items, looked tasty as well. The lemon based powder, got some moisture in some way, agreed. Goulash looked, excellent, as did the soup. Sorry seasoning was lacking on it however. Dinner, Well, I do love mysteries, LOL. Soup, cocoa, jam, looked good. The Mexican Chili pate, looked awesome, and have only seen 2-3 times before. All reviews were positive. Once again, the main looked awesome, and, filling. Seasoning needed, understood. This was an excellent ration, over all. The Mento's, would kill my teeth, lol, but, I still like them. Chocolate looked great, despite some BLOOM. I remember the biscuit browns well from the English packs in the 90s, went well with the pate in the same packs (chicken was my favourite). Sweet taste to the biscuit instead of just a dry bland taste.

I was stationed in the US ARMY in Brunssum, The Netherlands (L) at a NATO base 1968-1970. Very nice people. Miss the street food.

I've tried a couple of these rations and they are great, really tasty. These and the French are my favourites

Seems like some type of pate is super-common in European rations. I suppose most European cuisines have some form of pate and it's an easy way to make sure your soldiers get enough protein.

@@ericjamieson If you have a lot of hard tack biscuits like in this pack you need a lot of spreads for them. Surprised they don't have peanut butter, Dutch love the stuff.

Man that ration really looked tasty! Nothing in it I wouldn't like. Wish I was eating it now. I expect great chocolate from the Dutch. You've had many different cocoa beverages so if you say its one of the best you have had, it must be good. Great review!

I did my conscription (last activeated mandatory 9 month batch before it got paused in 1996). So I got the MREs from that time. Box for breakfast and lunch. Centrally heated tins with struyk dinners. I only went on excersizes. So in the basis, the MRE is the same from that era but improved and more 'smart'.

I prefer it when you lay each meal out in the tray, so that we can compare different menu's.

As a child we got native American Indian rations and I love that peanut butter and that cheese.

A North American getting refried bean dip from the Netherlands is a bit of 'sending coal to Newcastle'.

That goulash would make me sad! My grandma would be rolling in her grave over that. Haha

Sambal is actually more like what u guys call salsa, its spicy, usually cooked with anchovies, and statement condiment for a rice dish cooked in coconut milk, it's a traditional dish found in Malaysia and Indonesia, we call it Nasi Lemak

Been waiting for a new review so it’s a good day ! Nice assortment of goodies. Wow, a full pack of gum and full size Mentos - how do they afford it? Pate & biscuits brown really good, easy way to start the day. Dextrose tablets for on the go energy boost keep it simple. Soup could use a little more noodles for my taste. What was the total calorie count for the entire ration? Where’s the meat - too skimpy. Cool mess kit - keeping it real. Once again a 5 star review * * * * *

Hey, very late reply. But it's because of the companies, my guess is they donate it to the army rations for free. The companies are dutch and royal, which means they've had a long lasting relationship with the dutch government

Mistery jam is apple or pear molasses.

Love the breakfast tea: a little under two ounces of water… 😂. Clearly you don’t drink tea often. You would know you need quite a bit more water, and it needs to be pretty darn close to boiling, especially for black teas… Warmish water won’t even start the brewing process, not unless you want to steep it for a couple of hours.

Great review Sticky! I remember trying my first Dutch ration and thought it was excellent. I think one of my mains was also the parisian potatoes. Wish they were cheaper and more easily available though. Thanks for sharing!

I mis the older rations the ones from the eighties also only breakfast and lunch. But the dinner was delicious and not freeze-dried. Hot Chicken meal in Dutch kip is chicken, hete is hot. Tonijn is tuna fish, i prefer the tuna fish paté over the Ardenner. The mystery jam isn't jam it's a apple syrup spread, Appelstroop.

Also, everything can be eaten cold. You only need a spoon.

That's a great ration. First Time I got one I didn't get the 2 mains it comes with and complained and complained endlessly lol.. but the 2 mains make a dfifference of course

@@Sticky745 It should be the package plus the 2 mains. the mains are handed out when it's time to eat you get the package earlier but the main meals are handed out at dinner and lunch time. That's why they are rarer.

Appelstroop is Dutch made from apples. Full of iron and healthy 😅

Where do you get your rations

Sirop de Liege is a sirup made out of pears and apples .works super into meat stews ( dutch oven cooking )3/ to 4 spoons .. into the pot and voila!! " Liege " is the french word for, in dutch " Luik "in the Ardennes Belgium.. doing MRE reviews..in the USA ..check out the history. The Batlle of the Bulge ..no offence ..

I don't think I've ever had pautee. I'm not sure what the correct spelling is. That lemon drink is now a lemon bar. They should of had a 3rd main entree for breakfast. It's the most important meal people say

Pate is normally just blended meat.... similar to deviled ham or potted meat, that is coarser ground than European pate....
