IS THIS New Zealand's BEST road trip? DESERT ROAD

Did you know that there's a desert road in New Zealand?
There is and it's an amazing road trip, we would risk to say that one of the most beautiful.
The Desert Road is 63km long so not that long to drive, and it crosses the alpine desert and links the small towns of Turangi, on the North Island Volcanic Plateau in Waikato region and Waiouru, in the Ruapehu District. This road gains its name from being completely remote. Rangipo Desert (Te Onetapu) is a barren desert-like environment and indeed felt like we were away from civilisation for thousands of kms.
The views are just spectacular there are few words that can describe what we saw that day and in our opinion it's best done from south to north (that's what we did) because you get to see the beautiful views as soon as you enter the road and if you do it the other way around will have the initial beautiful views of this video behind them.
These are the views that we get to see
Mount Ruapehu, 2797 meters (9178 ft) above the sea level. Its elevation allows the only glaciers on the North Island. The last eruption was in September 1996.
Mount Ngauruhoe, 2291 meters (7518 ft). The volcano was very active in the 20th century with more than 40 eruptions. The last one was in 1977. It is an inspiration for the famous Mount Doom of the Lord of the Rings trilogy films. Yeah, the place where the Ring was forged by Sauron himself and should be destroyed by Frodon!
Mount Tongariro, 1978 meters (6494 ft). It is the smallest one of these three. The last eruption was in 2012.

Such a beautiful country with diverse landscapes, It's just a shame New Zealand is so far away from alot of populated countries ✨

The geographical isolation is both the best and worse thing about New Zealand.

Oh gosh, from lush greenery to a desert view... it's still scenic no doubt. Those volcanic mountains are indeed spectacular. What a simple but yummy lunch at a spot overlooking such a lovely view 👍👍 Nice vlog and looking forward to the next one. Happy blessed Sunday Joao and Cristiana ✌️🫰
