D'yer Mak'er is a song by the English rock band Led Zeppelin, from their 1973 album Houses of the Holy. The title is a play on the word "Jamaica" when spoken in an English accent. In a 2005 interview, Plant discussed the different interpretations and pronunciations of the name of the song. He explained that the title is derived from an old joke, where two friends have the following exchange: "My wife's gone to the West Indies." "Jamaica?" (which in an English accent sounds like "Did you make her?") "No, she wanted to go". The title, which does not appear in the lyrics, was chosen because it reflects the reggae feel of the song, and as an example of the Led Zeppelin band members' senses of humour. Because of the unfamiliarity of listeners to this back-story, as well as ignoring the apostrophes intentionally placed in the title, American DJs and fans often mispronounce the title as "dire maker". This confusion and mispronunciation was more common in the United States than in Britain, according to Jimmy Page. - from wikipedia.

As a 64 year old retired drummer I love your reactions to one of the best drummers that ever lived John Bonham I've went down a rabbit hole for two days watching your reactions to old time rock and roll music I absolutely love it and it puts a very good smile on an old man's face in the heart
Absolutely one of my all time favorite Zeppelin songs ❣️❣️❣️ 🔥

Their music was truly a gift to humanity. A song for every feeling.
I mean Led Zeppelin are concidered by some{myself included} to be te greatest band of all time for a reason. Raw emotional tallent
You are soooooo ready for Kashmir. Start with the recorded version first, then at some point, react to the live version from Celebration Day. It was performed 30 years later. The late drummers son joined the band, to sit in for his father in that concert.

You are, by far, the most entertaining reactor I watch... and as a lifetime connoisseur of all things Zeppelin, these reactions are my favorite. While I'm looking forward to more studio versions, I'm sure you've gotten plenty of requests that I'd just be repeating. Because of that, I'm sending you a link to a live, 1970 double-shot of 'We're Gonna Groove'/'I Can't Quit You Babe'. Make sure you don't wear trousers, because seeing/hearing this utter brilliance may cause serious 'leakage'... you've been warned, kil. Have fun/ kzread.info/dash/bejne/oWeM0tixlM_OcaQ.html

He is such fun. I thought his "schtick" might begin to wear thin, but nope, not yet anyhow. He seems genuinely appreciative. But the kicker is that he doesn't monetize (notice how few commercials he has?). He cusses and doesn't care and has told youtube he doesn't WANT any money, etc (I think this is correct), so you/we/I know he's NOT "faking" liking Zeppelin or anyone else just to get more views, likes, etc. He's the real deal.

Just checking my records [ I know, sad isn't it? ]. This is your 24th LZ track so far. The good news is, on the 8 studio albums in their main body of work, there are 72 in all, you're only one third of the way through. Some are only short, 2& 3 minute pieces. Still, 'Gallows Pole' & 'Battle of Evermore' [ the only LZ track with someone other than the 4 musicians on ] will be a different slant, and 'Achilles Last Stand',, and 'Kashmir', and you're still an 'In Through the Out Door' virgin. We can wait. Once you've got through those, you can go back and try to find some of the live videos, and see what monsters these tracks turned into on stage. There are potentially 29 of those, plus the 16 on 'Celebration Day', the last time that the three survivors bestrode a stage together. You'll be as old as some of us by the time you finish.

HAHAHAHA!! LOVE IT! Recorded 50 years ago and still fabulous! This track is on the Houses of the Holy album. I think you've reacted to a few other things from that album. Thank!
Giggle, giggle, giggle, giggle.... Fabulous. You brighten my days. AND.... If Pink Folyd can do Metallica as in The Nile Song then Zeppy can do Reggae. It's because they were ALL f..king spectacular musicians... SIMPLE AS. They could turn their hands to anything. I not dissing todays music when I say that they didn't have the same drum beats and samples as everyone else to create their music from. Sorry if that sounds patronising because I really don;t want it to be at all. I adore Massive Attack for instance. And Portishead to name just two.... They have class.
You definitely need to hear the Christmas parody of this! Sled Zeppelin by Bob Rivers. 😜😜 "Oh, Ho Ho Ho Ho Ho," Absolute classic. 😁
House of the Holy. Sorry bro your journey has just begun, again. Glad you’re sitting down! Belize bro. Cheers mate.
🤣🤣🤣 Stupid good. Love you Hector. 👍❤🤙
Yes it is. Kind of. You know the old joke? My wife went to the West Indies". "Jamaica?" "No she went because she wanted to". So it's Jamaica. YW. Hey Hector. Or "ohohohohoh you don't have to gooo"
THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! Loved this song in the day but didn't have the $$ to buy everything I liked and NEVER KNEW or even suspected it was Zeppelin. So this is the first time in DECADES hearing it again!!! Not a song Led Heads relate to so it just disappeared. LOVE the audacity of it

Not my favourite Zeppelin track and I am a huge fan so it hurts me to admit it 😢 but I'll still sing along 😂 Love your reaction, classic! They are so versatile its true 😊
Just love how you get into the music 😂! Definitely one of my top 3 Led Zeppelin songs. I know your list of song to react to is long, but it would be awesome to see you react to The Police.....band from the late 70's and early 80's. I can picture your reaction to Roxanne in my mind and it's epic.♥
Love this one so much.
Hello Mr Hector...ready for FRIDAY??
Hector So many more down the zep rabbit hole. Enjoy
D’yer mak’er rhymes sounds like Jamaica. Hence the reggae vibe.
Thanks again for making my day.
Great point about your neck muscles, LMAO! Never thought about that till you mentioned it, but, yes, you DO "headbang" a bit, lol. I think of this as Robert's (the singer) and Bonzo's (the drummer) song. They both really shine in it. But Page has a bit of a nice little cozy solo. I THINK John Paul Jones (bassist/keyboardist) DIDN'T like this one too much. I've liked this one, but YOU "made" me appreciate it more than I have in a long time, thanks! BTW: Drums? Zep's "In my time of dying" has 'em!--And MORE!!
Can feel this one bro.

Yesssssssss
awesome!!! love it!
You gotta do In My time of dying!!
Haven't looked through all 64 comments that are on here so far to see if someone else said this, but this is actually pronounced "Jamaica" if you've got a certain British accent. "Jermaker"
You got to do " hey hey what can I do ". One of my all-time favorite Zeppelin songs. So good. " Tangerine" is another song which is a bit of an experimental piece for Zeppelin.
I'm in the minority but it's one of my fav LZ songs. It was meant to be a joke and or throwaway song. :D I'm like other fans and like Black Dog, and all that, but this one is just so good with the drums and the while vibe like you say. My other favs of theirs for reference are pretty atypical I suppose. Transition from Heartbreaker to Living Loving Maid can't be beat, and Kashmir is pretty up there for me too. Was so happy to see you do this one! Want to hear Jimmy Page in a super group with Bad Company singer (great singer)? Do The Firm's Radioactive. Oh hell, I must go hear it now lol!
Its Pronounced Jamaica. Loved this one but they almost never played it live and the drummer hated it. Too bad he's killing it!
Love you Man, you would easily fit right into my Family!! Too many Daughters (but obviously they are loved) But Iv'e only got one crazy Song, could do with another!! X

the title is a play on the words "did you make her?" beeing pronounced as "Jamaika" in an english accent
Song named after Jamaica with a Zeppy twist say D'yer Maker slowly and think Jamaica. Fact
Song title is pronounced like Jamaica.
Big hit for them, and Zeppelin wasn't crazy about the song at all!
So have you added Robert Plant’s solo work to your list yet? Big Log In The Mood Little By Little Heaven Knows Tall Cool One Ship of Fools Monkey
Beastie Boys " 3 MCs and One DJ" for NYC
There are many other surprises ahead, young fellow.
It's slang with a heavy accent for Did You Make Her.
Yes. This is indeed a song with a reggae bent. It's in the song title. It's meant to be pronounced "Jamaica", because that's it's name. Say the name with a Jamaican accent and you'll know instantly that what I say is true.
I told you it'd be very different from the usual "Led Zeppelin" :D Want something again unexpected? Then check out "Gallows Pole" that is a kind of fast country piece, or... you want folk? "The Battle of Evermore" is what you're looking for, not so knows and definitively not well reacted around (this could be beneficial to your channel too) :)
Try sublime!!! love too see your reaction
Have you considered falling into the YES rabbit hole? Start with THE YES ALBUM, then FRAGILE, then CLOSE TO THE EDGE. Eventually you'll be ready for RELAYER.
Mark is there any reason why you haven’t done any live versions yet? Seriously you’ll lose your shit tenfold if you do 😂😂
D'yer Mak'er is cockney for Jamaica I was told
Kashmiri from celebration day with drummers son at the drumbs . And there old asses rocking it out. They actually sound better
Have a good time ,man...Fah Kum

Since you are always talking about making tea for someone try LED Zeppelin Tea for one
Do Kashmir
Ritalin on board...let's go!
Glade your back you crazy fucker lmao. ❤ missed ya bud
Yeah the drums. This one’s about 4 hours too short.
Bob Marley hit the mainstream in the late 70's so Led Zeppy decided it was another genre they could annihilate...yep! Those fucking drums again...
and you haven't even done the live stuff yet. Start with kasmir o2 arena in 2007.
D'ja make 'er?
It's pronounced Jamaica but spelt differently
I follow a family reaction channel, so I can't recommend these songs to them, but I think you and your audience can handle 2-Live Crew's "Me So Horny" and "Shake What Your Mama Gave Ya" by Poison Clan. Sending good vibes. ✌
do kashmir 1979
