Hi, thanks for sharing again, it's always interesting. I'm a Goju Ryu practionner and former Wing Chun practitionner so I can see where you are going there and if indeed there are some bridges with kung fu specialy Wing Chun but there are BIG differences too which I would sum up like this : 1. In WC you try NOT to get in the centerline of the attack. it is the key point of the style. And when you do, a synchronized counter is mandatory. 2. WC doesn't use the hips in the same manner... They tend to use it with a little step so it's a natural movement. (Almost everytime) 3. WC uses fluid movements, and never tries to use strengh to trap the oppennent. if someone used it's strengh in sticky hands or clinch position you immediatly uses it to get him in a bad position (it's hard to explain with no demonstration) 4. When you have your arms in sticky hands positions you NEVER leave it unless it is to get out of the centerline with a leverage on the oppenant elbow and get the avantage. Why ? Not to get hit or grapple by the free hand. I think images speak for themselves so I send you this video : kzread.info/dash/bejne/iKmlm9OkpZyofc4.html

I think if you were to put snapshots of the technique side by side with kung fu you could make the argument that it is kung fu. But video reveals the difference and to me the biggest difference is in the way its applied. What I mean by that is the timing of the breath and how you apply power at the kime moment. This is where your GoJu Ryu stands apart. My background before Goju Ryu was a mainland style of Wing Chun and the biggest difference I've found is how they apply power. The Wing Chun that i learnt was very close "soft" and whippy power. Applying tension as late as possible and as minimal as possible to maintain the structure of the strike. Using explosive but tight stance changes to create power with minimal shoulder/spine use. Where as Goju Ryu pushes the spectrum in both directions, trying to become softer in the "soft" moments and harder in the "hard" moments. Time this with dynamic and explosive stance movements and using the whole body to generate power. What this creates and is shown so well in this application is a vicious and explosive power that is developed through coordinating the whole body and breath together. Here are a few wing chun clips to help illustrate the difference. kzread.info/dash/bejne/g4lots2llaWbmNo.html kzread.info/dash/bejne/n32ExMqKhNTKp6w.html

Karate came from the Kung Fu, and it started all in Okinawa, it was called To De Hand of China. So the question is weird! People who doesnt know about Karate should start to see the differences between japanese Karate like Shotokan and Okinawa Te Karate like Shito Ryu and Goju RYu for example!

Looks Like American Kempo which often leads me to ask is this a Karate Technique, Chuan Fa (Kung Fu isn't a style, it can be referred to Chinese Martial Arts generically), or is it Japanese Jujutsu?

American Kempo - What is it about the techniques that are similar to Amercan Kempo if you don't mind me asking? I believe the term 'kung fu' is used to denote a 'skill' in something (typically derived after serious application to acquiring said skill); so 'kung fu' isn't reserved for martial arts only. In the title we are using 'kung fu' in the pop-culture definition.

@@GKCgoju The circling blocks are similar and the chained strikes. I'll try to get a specific technique and video. I have recently started GoJuRyu and I'm very curious to see how similar Kempo and Goju Ryu are

Asking about what Martial art is represented in the video while putting the word "kata" in the description and the "clearly everyone knows they are karateka" in the thumbnail, this must be a strategy to make the viewer intrigued.
