I think that L'Oreal device is one of those things that will likely be really helpful to people who have disabilities, but it's not necessary for other people. That said, if it's in your budget, it does sound nice to get an even application and save the rest of the bottle if you're just doing roots. I would only be interested if I could put my own preferred dye in, rather than having to use their $30 one.

Retired Stylist here, the only concern is if you put it on your roots first it could give you hot roots. The roots being alot brighter then the rest of your hair because of more heat at the roots of your scalp. Then it would be hard to apply off the root first. It would be great for new growth.❤

Morning, as a cosmo too, I see many issues with this. She missed spots, many places were not saturated. I don't think it is worth the money. Did Jen say it does retouched? How? Once color is mixed it is oxidized. Won't be good. I do agree with the person who said it is good for peeps with disabilities.

Hey, I also did hair for 15 years, I don't see this being a big problem because it's geared towards people depositing color, rather than applying color for lifting. I also assume the H2O2 is 20 vol.

I am a licensed beautician and I say you do not need that color device. You can never have too much color on your roots always remember that the only negative thing that will happen is it’ll make more of a mess. You can color your own hair. It’s not very difficult.

Unless you are handicapped and then it's tough. The price to get things done in most salons are out of price ranges for those on a fixed income/ the elderly. I love when I see Hair Techs who plan a time/date and go to senior retirement centers and will do those people's hair. It shows love & compassion.

As someone with a chronic illness I have to dye my hair myself, but I don’t colour my hair I just paint highlights, I’m sure my greys will start showing more soon though. I also do my mom’s hair, I think this would be so helpful for so many people. You wouldn’t have to really look at what you are doing, you can just feel the placement as you run it over your head. I also like that it’s rechargeable so no cords to worry about moving around. I might try to get it so I can test it for spoonies.

When your using a single hair color such as brown you don’t have to worry as much about even application especially if your not actually changing your hair color. @469ka37Ай бұрын

Honestly that L'Oréal device seems like something for people with thin hair. I don't see a way for that to work for anyone in the type 4 category because it seems dependent on the hair that flattens at the root when wet. The lack of sectioning honestly guarantees that there will be missed spots. Also, a thing about box dye is that you don't know what developer is in it. So if you only want root coverage you'd only need a 10 volume and it could have a 40 volume which could be _super_ damaging and lead to hot roots. Overall, the device I'm concept is a good idea but in execution, I feel like there needs to be some tweaks. For 1 one, having it dependent on a $30 cartridge while smart, doesn't allow for enough customization to truly be worth it since you're limited to a color range and whatever type of dye and developer is in the cartridge

Not electric, but Asian Hair dyes have had a brush pump bottle for ages. It has two individual reservoirs, and when you push the button, it dispenses and mixes the dye as you brush. One brush bottle is enough to fully saturate my thick waist length curly hair twice, and costs $12 with shipping. Doesn't stink as bad as most box dyes either, and doesn't fade quickly.

If you have super thick hair, it can be challenging to saturate everything evenly. Or hair that is unruly and difficult to section. If you don’t, get yourself a comb, a clip, a bowl, an applicator brush, and some color/developer from Sally’s. You can just section your hair by leaving the bottom third out, clip up the rest, apply with the bush, pull out the second third of your hair and clip the rest back up, apply with the brush, repeat until done. Just don’t rush it and don’t do it drunk and you’ll be fine. Use a Demi-permanent color not a permanent color. It’s better for your hair and also less of a commitment. You can’t see the back of your own head and if you’re unsure or not flexible enough to feel confident you’re reaching everything back there, have your husband or a friend help you.

I guess it would depend on the certain disability but I don’t see it working for anyone who can’t lift their arms much or have a lot of muscle pain. It’s way too big and heavy looking to lift it up for the needed amount of time it would take to dye my whole head. It’s just a big comb that squirts out hair dye, you can buy a squirt bottle with a comb nozzle for much cheaper and it will be so much lighter.

I felt this comment in my CORE! lol Same goes with my hair Genie! Ice had him 25 years, he took all my hair off because of chemo (in my kitchen, while i was throwing up, what a trooper) AND the man and his wife drove the two hours iut to my house once just to make sure i was okay because he hadnt seen me in a few months and wanted to know how my treatment was going! (Full remission 🖤 and hoping like heck you are also doing well and are as well, or at least going in that direction. Cancer is a trial by fire in strength and resilience, snyone who fights this battle without giving up, HAS DARN WELL EARNED A FULL AND HAPPY LIFE.) THat having been said, I couldn't agree more. Now, if that thing had REALLY been a magical mixer of hair color that you could refill via your favorite color. On top of keeping it unmixed prior to application. AS WELL AS suck the air out of the unused portion so your could save it. Not to mention was much less bulky, and of course actually applied it evenly. (I mean, we all saw tbat there was barely any color on her hair as she started that first comb through) If that was the case then I would definitely be getting it as a gift FOR the lovely wife of my hair genie. As she has very limited range of motion these days and because she is so determined to remain independent that she always insisted on continuing to do it herself. Unfortunately, it's gotten to where he has to let him do it. So she would LOVE something that does all that. Alas... this thing does not. All that aside, will happily pay my genie whatever number he may need. Our method is nothing more than a loving trade off... He gives me whatever he believes my hair needs and he decides my look, no holds bar and with complete trust. As its always the most fabulous color, styling, and/or cut I would have never thought to ask for. In return, because life is cruel to those who deserve such hardships absolute least. He charges me the price of a bill he he needs to get rid of. Doesn't matter the least bit which way the benefit in each particular instance may in fact lean, we dont care. Sometimes i get a full service DAY of work and it costs me 100 dollars. Sometimes i am in there 2 hours, look flawless, and he can pay a bill that was REALLY weighing on him. I love that man, I love his family, he was the one I trusted in my darkest moment and he dropped eveything and ran to me. This toy couldn't replace him. Nothing can. Also, it cant get rid of my split ends, mend my heat damnage, or give me a blowout, sooo... Lmao

I've been dying my hair at home for almost 30 years now (started at 12 and am now 41). You absolutely do not "need" the L'Oréal device. BUT, if it makes you feel more confident and comfortable trying at home, and you can afford it, then I think it is worth a try. Demi-permanent or permanent oxidative hair color swells a fair bit and you can work it in gently like shampoo or conditioner after applying to make sure there are no spots. Just work in small sections and take your time, and you can usually get a good result. I cover my bathroom counter and floor with newspaper or junk mail, but Magic Eraser will get stains out if you drip. I also cover my ears and hairline with Vaseline or Aquaphor to prevent skin staining. Things like bleaching and doing highlights/balyage are significantly harder and can cause lots of damage, so I go to salons for those things. P.s. Happy late Birthday!!🎉🎉🎉

So I’ve always colored my own hair at home and am really comfortable doing it skill wise at least, but I’ve had a lot of health issues over the last few years so I’ve found it hard and harder to do it myself. I put it off and put it off because I know it’s going to be a harder task for me now, but I think this device would help me so much. If I can brush my hair I can do this! I’m so excited. This may help me so much.

As someone who has done her own boxed hair dying process for years, I will NOT be buying such an expensive gadget. I don’t think you need the device and you are overthinking. I don’t think I have ever had splotches in my hair. Like ever! I make sure my head is saturated and I’m good. My first question is don’t deceive yourself that the gadget will make your color perfect. If I comb slow, will you get more or less product? By the way, I could use a cheap comb and comb product through and probably achieve the same. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I think I’d get the L’Oreal device if I could put in my own hair dye in there. I’m just going to wait until 1. They update the design/come out with a second device that can be used with any hair dye, or 2. A different company comes out with a similar product that can be used with any hair dye. The limitation of the $30 hair dye is what’s really going to drag them down I think, I work at a Sally’s and with $30 dollars you can get a brush, bowl, developer, and whatever hair dye you want, rather than $30 for JUST the hair dye. Plus after you have the brush and bowl the only thing you need to get after that is the hair dye and maybe the developer (bc the Salon Care 32oz developer is around $9 and you usually only need like 4oz depending on your hair length, it’s just a better deal if you dye your hair often) In addition to that, would this product even work for those with very curly hair like my sister? The showed someone with curly hair in the first commercial, but how about they do a demo? And are the hair dyes for dark hair also? Or would you have to pre lighten your hair and then dye it, which would defeat the point of the product because now you need to get a brush, bowl, bleach, and developer before ever using the product. I have pitch black hair so I’d be doing that before any color, unless they make their HiColors available for the device bc those are for dark hair. In addition to that what level of developer are these $30 cartridges? Do you get to choose what developer they come with? Like is there 4 versions of each color with a different developer volumes or just a single volume for all of them?

Speaking as someone with a LOT of hair, i cant see myself getting invested, literally and figuratively into that l'oreal device haha. I actually color my hair at home 9 times out of 10. And i can see where a device like this could be appealing to someone who is afraid of missing areas (the back of their head for example. I think thats always a learning curve when you're coloring your hair ar home). Or again if someone is disabled or has mobility issues, maybe this is a dream come true. But I have very thick long hair and i can not only see this tangled the absolute hell out my hair, but taking forever to fully saturate it haha. But I can see this appealing to others, im just not one of them

One thing I always hated about coloring my hair at home was the mess. No matter how careful I was, I got drips or splashes on the floor, walls etc. So if this product actually worked & eliminated the mess I might consider it. I couldn't really get my natural haircolor with box dyes, it would pull too orange or look too monotone so I used a color & highlight kit. It came closest. Box dyes weren't great at covering grey & I usually had roots or grey showing within 2 weeks as my hair grows fast. I go to a salon now & really like my colorist. He knows how to avoid too brassy of color & I request not too many or too light of highlights. I could probably use at touch up at 4 weeks but push it to 6 or 8 just to save money. Even if you had to buy 2 cartridges of haircolor, it would still be cheaper than a salon. Curious to see reviews on this product.

I’ve got to admit I’m really intrigued by the L’Oreal Color Sonic. They’ve very cleverly priced it so that it’s still competitive with a professional, and the major reason I hate to color my own hair is the mixing and mess. That said, 20 shades isn’t a lot and I would always worry about if they discontinued the cartridges.

I have been dying my natural brown hair auburn for years. Including bleaching and coloring. It’s not the easiest but practice makes perfect. However you do you. For the color I want it’s cheaper to DIY. I would try at home color with a comb as some have suggested before going all in on the device. If you feel more comfortable with a pro colorist then stick with that, especially if you want more variation in your hair with more highlights or lowlights.

Honestly, as someone who too is afraid of box dye, I get the L'Oreal device. My thing is is I like to dye only parts of my hair. I can't help feeling like the L'Oreal device would be more helpful for people who want go do only certain parts since it's easier to both control your hair because your hands are clean, but also easier to keep the the color to certian parts. I've never felt like I could dye my hair, but the moment the commercial, I immediately felt like I could do it. Also, as some people have pointed out, and as someone who is disabled I think this tool could be helpful. But, I see it as a tool for someone who knows nothing to help me. I've got very thick hair, and my arms can verily handle using a straightener to flip the ends of my hair out. For this particular tool I could see myself needing breaks before I could finish my entire head, but if I had a helper they could use the tool regardless of what level of hair care they know. I do wish it was cheaper, but sadly and ironically, most tools that help with accessibility are on the pricier side. It is cheaper than having to go to the salon, though, so that is helpful. Espically, if you can use it to bleach your hair beforehand. I also think it would be helpful if they came out with a special empty cartridge that you could put other companies' dyes in. Not that there's are bad, but if there's a certian color you want, or if someonr has to use a cetian type. But yea, either way, if I had the funds, I'd buy this device in a heartbeat.

I totally understand your intimidation with at home color but its pretty hard to mess up in the ways you mentioned especially if you are just doing a solid color similar to the color you already have. If you are worried about missing spots have one of your kids or hubby double check that everything looks saturated (very helpful for the back sections) Watch a few of Brad Mondo "how to" vids to learn about things like how to properly section & the basics! You'll feel like a pro in no time. The only tough thing to do at home I've found is bleaching.

As a hairdresser, I don't feel that device is necessary, you can feel when all of your hair is coated with colour, for your hair in particular I'd say just use a good two tubes (or boxes if you're going that route), concentrate on the roots first going in one inch sections making sure the colour is coming through to the other side and coating both sides, and dont forget the perimeter! Then put the rest through your lengths which is super easy, youll feel itll be nice and slick when its properly saturated. and you can get the same kind of application as this device with once of those comb tip bottles you can grab cheap enough on amazon, temu etc. Feels like a gimmick to me. You've got this, you can do it! ❤

I think you might be overthinking box color. When they say don’t over saturate, it’s so you’re not a drippy mess, not necessarily because it’ll make your hair look uneven. I always buy two boxes to make sure I can SATURATE the hair, and you can do this 360 degrees by squeezing your hair to feel if it’s squishy and saturated. I think you’d be surprised at how easy it actually is if you tried it!

From someone who’s been dying their hair since freshman year of high school and worked at a Sally’s beauty supply. The Loreal thing seems like a gimmick a bottle of hair dye and some developer to go with. It runs you around $15-$17 altogether and if you happen to miss a spot, you can just go over it again normal hair dye is more forgiving on retouching it up then bleach is also I have thick curly hair. I always have to buy two or three bottles of hair dye. If I had to do that with the Loreal cartridge that would be expensive quick. honestly dying your hair once you get the hang of it it’s not that bad.

I touched up my hair color this morning. I spend $12 every 6 weeks. The only bonus of the device is the drip factor, but for the price, I'll risk drips. If you are careful and maybe practice on other people a few times, it’s not hard to dye your own hair. Especially since you are doing an all-over dark color. I'm also not so sure this will actually spread the color any better than I can when using the squirter bottle from the box.

Medically retired hairstylist...I like the idea of the L'Oréal device. There are some pretty big drawbacks though. For those of us who don't like our naturally dark hair and have to pre lighten, the device is useless (box color is only ideal for those wanting to go darker or stay within 3 levels of their natural color). I've never been fond of L'Oréal hair color as it's one of the hardest brands to color correct. The only pro I see is that it's beneficial to those people with shoulder or neck issues as you only need 1 hand to use it.

The L’Oréal device makes sense, really intrigued with the accuracy of how precise the application would be. What grabbed my interest was how the product mixes both color and developer as it depositing color onto hair. A major concern is after it’s mixed, how do you go about the next application without the color going bad. Once you mixed the two the dye starts activating/working immediately.
