Ben, those are Gawai and Keamatan bazaar to coincide with our harvest festival in Sarawak(Gawai Dayak on 1st and 2nd June) and Sabah's (Pesta Keamatan on 30th and 31st). Look at the dancers traditional costumes should give you some idea. Cendol has many different versions throughout Asia. Like you have pizza in the US different from those in Italy. And Taco is different in the US and Mexico. We are entering the dry season now so im thankful for a bit of rain.

Kolo Mee is a noodle they make in Sarawak. It's good, but probably not on your diet. Sarawak is in East Malaysia or Borneo Malaysia. The main city is Kuching. Smaller than Penang. You can walk the main town in a day. Save your money because the thing to do is see the wildlife. Orangutan, Hornbill, Proboscus Monkey. You can also visit a long house where the headhunters live. They may add your head to the collection.😁 They don't do this anymore. KK is in Saba ad is a small city with awesome seafood and taller buildings. You can also hike Mt Kinabalu. I didn't do this.😱

That festival you caught into is "Borneo Native Festival", basically to expose people of West Malaysia for the upcoming of Pesta Kaamatan (Giving Thanks Fest) in 30th-31st May and Gawai Dayak (Dayak Giving Thanks Celebration) in 1st-2nd of June that are celebrated annually in the (East) Malaysia Borneo (Sabah & Sarawak), which means another public holiday in Malaysia's calendar in those states. It feels like there are more non-Malaysians than Malaysians sometimes 😅

Just an observation from someone who goes to Penang every year …Not one a please or thank you when ordering the food. Very business like. If it was a Brit doing the ordering, it would have been littered with please and thank you throughout the process.

I of course said thank you when I got my food, it's not in the video. I'm always polite, one doesn't need to litter please and thank you's throughout the whole process in order to be polite. Your comment is rather rude in itself my friend.

@@benfishermin As I said, it was just an observation not a critique. Of course I assumed you said thank you when I received your food. And of course one doesn't need to litter please and thank you's throughout the ordering process, but Brits do tend to. Again it’s an ‘observation’. Some cultures, I’ve noticed, order as giving instructions and others as if making a request. Neither is wrong or right, it’s an ‘observation’. Oh, and I’m not your friend, I’m more an ‘observer’.

In almost all your videos, I realised that you don't engage with the local that much. If you have questions just ask the seller or the exhibitor or the supervisor or the cashier or even the passerby. You'll be surprised with the response.. positive or negative regardless. Somehow.. you prefer to ask your followers instead. Come on Ben... learn to break the ice with locals. Your channel will grow fast.

I mostly ask questions to the camera in this way to spark engagement/comments on the videos, so KZread pushes it to more people. I will try to get more interactions when possible, I'm just highly introverted in general.
