You know Fighterz gameplay? You can largely owe it to this game. The Marvel vs Capcom series pretty much pioneered team-based fighting games. 4:19 Deadpool has a teleport move. But he can only use it twice in a row. If you use it again, his belt will short out and deal damage to him, after that you can use it two more times. What he was doing was somehow cancelling the shortcurcuit into itself, causing the animation to loop. 9:24 Yeah, they're using mods. In normal gameplay, each character has 6(8?) colors, and one DLC costume that these guys modded over. 11:34 That's Shuma-Gorath. He's pretty much an Elder God and a minor nemesis of Dr Strange. Weirdly enough, the dude's been in almost every entry of the MvC series. Capcom loves characters with unorthodox fighting styles. 16:04 Yeah, this game was pretty hype in the fighting game community back in the early 2010s. Lee even mentioned they're playing it at EVO this year, which is pretty much THE premiere fighting game tournament. 20:09 X-23 is a female clone of Wolverine who he decided to take under his wing. 38:11 That's the Judge from the Phoenix Wright games, in a rare instance of him actually doing his job correctly. 40:08 That is what is known as a wavedash. It's for moving across the stage faster by cancelling and repeating dashes.

If you wanna look into his videos there's a lot to choose from like 'Rate the Super/Finishers' 'The Games That Made Me' 'Fighting History' 'Boss Rage' and the video series that introduced me to him and is UMVC3 related 'Assist Me' Fun Story: I actually had a chance to fight Max in UMVC3 once. It went great, no issues whatsoever, I really held my own against him... he whooped my ass.

Some of his Legacy series can be good watches too, going through all, or at least the main beats, of particular franchises in the lead-up to a new release in said franchise. You don't necessarily need to know much about how to play them in order to enjoy them, they're still plenty informative and entertaining.

I just love the utter confusion on display by merely everything single thing in this video. For context: Marvel vs. Capcom came about during the 90s when Marvel (who were struggling financially due to the speculator boom, which is a whole can of worm of itself) licensed off their IP to movie and game studios. Capcom was commissioned to make a few arcade fighting titles which included X-Men: Childre of the Atom, which led to X-Men vs. Street Fighter, which led to Marvel Super Heroes, which led to Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter, which finally led to Marvel vs. Capcom. The vs series remains a fan favorite amongst fighting game players with Marvel vs. Capcom 2 being the most sought-after game in the franchise, still going for more than full price for a used copy. 3 was the last in this great saga, with the Ultimate edition being rereleased on the current-gen console to collide with a somewhat inferior reboot. Chris Redfield is the main protagonist for the first and fifth Resident Evil X-23 is a female clone of Wolverine Viewtiful Joe is a movie-goer who get sucked into a Movie Land and became a superhero Amaterasu (also known as Okami Amaterasu) is a sun god in the form of a white wolf Pheonix Wright is a character created by Capcom who's a lawyer that starred in 5 in a 6 game franchise Taskmaster is a mercenary with a photographic memory who copied moves us other Marvel heroes This game is played professionally in the fighting game tournement EVO almost yearly

Marvel vs Capcom is a fighting crossover between Marvel Comics and video game characters created and owned by Capcom. These include: -Megaman -Resident Evil -Street Fighter -Devil May Cry -Phoenix Wright -Darkstalkers -Ghosts n' Goblins -Viewtiful Joe -Okami -Etc...... In particular, MvC 3 was the first game in the series in over a decade. It got almost, if not, just as much hype back then as Smash Ultimate did a few years ago. The episodic trailers for the game are still Amazing, and they're worth reacting to if you ever get time.

Phoenix Wright is actually one of the hardest hitting characters of this game. He's essentially a joke character, but a set up requirement for him (has to gather three random pieces of GOOD evidence, when there can also be BAD evidence as well in the middle of a match) can make him hit hard on even the toughest characters, especially with X-Factor (which is this game's Z-spark)

10:34 well no need to imagine. I got you. (This was typed right after Death Battle Season 10 Episode 2 so it may eventually be outdated) Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3 has 50 characters. Out of all the characters in the game, I counted 24 characters who were in a DEATH BATTLE. Those are... Strider Hiryu (Vs Ryu Hayabusa) Frank West (Vs Leon Kennedy) Vergil (Vs Sephiroth) Zero (Vs Metal Sonic) Ryu (Vs Scorpion and Vs Jin) Dante (Vs Bayonetta) Chun-Li (Vs Mai) Felicia (Vs Taokaka) Akuma (Vs Shang Tsung and Vs Shao Kahn) Haggar (Vs Zangief) Ghost Rider (Vs Lobo) Hawkeye (Vs Green Arrow) Doctor Strange (Vs Doctor Fate) Iron Fist (Vs Po) Captain America (Vs Batman) Deadpool (Vs Deathstroke and Vs Pinkie Pie AND Vs The Mask) Wolverine (Vs Raiden) Iron Man (Vs Lex Luthor and Vs Batman) Doctor Doom (Vs Darth Vader and Vs Lex Luthor) Storm (Vs Korra) Thor (Vs Raiden and Vs Wonder Woman AND Vs Vegeta) Spider-Man (Vs Batman) Hulk (Vs Doomsday and Vs Broly) Magneto (Vs Tetsuo) So a little under half the roster (24 or 48%) has been on Death Battle across 33 episodes total because of repeats. 10 Capcom and 14 Marvel. So I also wondered what's the game's win rate with characters? The characters in this game won 18/33 episodes (counting Deadpool Vs Pinkie Pie as a win) so just over 50%. Iron Man, Doom, Deadpool, and Thor each have 2 wins so 8/17 wins is just them. That's more than all the Capcom wins which is 5. The winners were Strider Hiryu Zero Ryu (only against Jin) Dante Akuma (only against Shang Tsung) Ghost Rider Hawkeye Deadpool (against Deathstroke and I'm counting Pinkie Pie, but not Mask) Iron Man (both times) Doctor Doom (both times) Storm Thor (against Raiden and the Prince of all Saiyans, but not Wondie) Spider-Man Magento So those are some fun statistics. If I'm wrong about something or miss counted... Whoops sorry.

To answer the question on whether people ever took this game seriously/competitively, the short answer is yes. The long answer: This game was one of the most played fighting games competitively for a long time. And is one of the most loved fighting games in history. Hell, it's gonna be at EVO this year (EVO is basically THE fighting game competition). So despite coming out over ten years ago, people still like the game enough for it to be played at the biggest fighting game tournament ever...

Max is essentially Mr. Fighting game. He has been making fighting game based content for a long time, done a variety of skits, tutorials and more to show his love and appreciation of fighting games. He was responsible for making several of the official trailers for the Killer Instinct fighting game reboot, and has been able to meet with a lot of fighting game developers over the years as a result of his channel’s career. As some people have mentioned I would recommend giving some of his “boss rage” videos a try, or even his old “Assist Me” skits which revolves around Marvel vs Capcon.

“Why Marvel vs Capcom?” Well dear child, long ago, in the year of 1994 when Capcom was making fighting games out the wazoo, Capcom created an X-Men fighting game called _Children of the Atom._ In said game, Capcom included Akuma (Street Fighter) as a secret character. One year later, Capcom developed yet another Marvel fighting game, _Marvel Super Heroes,_ and in it added another secret character from one of their own franchises, Anita from Darkstalkers. One year after THAT, Capcom developed a true blue crossover fighter, _X-Men vs Street Fighter,_ turning what was originally a simple fun addition into a full blown crossover. From there Capcom would develop _Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Fighter_ a year later, then _Marvel vs Capcom_ a year after that, and then a culmination of everything they did (and more) in _Marvel vs Capcom 2_ in 2000, lasting a very long time from casual fans and fighting game heads alike. And that is the story of how _Marvel vs Capcom 3_ and its subsequent updated rerelease _Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3_ came to be in 2011. The end. Oh. There was also _Marvel vs Capcom Infinite_ but with the whole Disney vs Fox debacle happening at that time and Marvel being rather difficult to work with and Capcom putting its devs on a time crunch, we don’t really talk about that one. But the gameplay was good.

alright now that im home i can get into what i do best, which is list out and explain things that i halfway know in borderline autistic detail 3:35 capcom was approached by marvel way back in the great before time (the 90s) because capcom basically is *the* fighting game company and said "hey, can you make a fighting game for us with these marvel characters?" and they said sure and slapped together a marvel fighting game in like 8 months or some shit that barely worked and was horribly broken but people still liked it enough to make more of them so they did for a bit and then stuff happened and marvel and capcom stopped liking each other for a while but then things got better and then they got worse again and now things are kind of ??? right now cuz capcom is doing really well and disney ( who now owns marvel) is more interested in buying capcom than doing anything productive or collaborative with them 4:05 that is dante with a color type intentionally made to look like vergil. and yes this has been a tactic used to confuse opponents in competitive play 4:20 no, it's a forced malfunction that occurs every third use of deadpool's teleport move. the malfunction can technically be delayed but you can't negate it entirely 7:29 x factor is the predecessor of the sparking mechanic in dragonball fighterz except it is way more broken. it is activated via pressing all 4 attack buttons simultaneously 7:48 most of the basic mechanics of dragonball fighterz were pulled from this game 9:05 yes. capcom has phoenix wright in fact, the roster for umvc3 is as follows; for the capcom side we have Ryu, Chun Li, C. Viper and Akuma from the street fighter series. Amaterasu from the okami series Arthur and Firebrand from the ghost and goblins series Chris Redfield, Jill Valentine, Wesker and Nemesis from the resident evil series Dante, Vergil and Trish from the devil may cry series Felicia, Hsien Ko and Morrigan from the darkstalkers series Frank West from the deadrising series Haggar from the final fight series (though he is a known character in the street fighter series) Phoenix Wright from the ace attorney series Spencer from the bionic commando series Strider Hiryu from the strider series Viewtiful Joe from the viewtiful joe series Tron Bonne and Zero from the megaman series for the marvel side we have Captain America Spiderman Iron Man Doctor Doom Deadpool Doctor Strange Dormammu Shuma Gorath Ghost Rider She Hulk Hulk Wolverine Storm Phoenix Nova Super Skrull Hawkeye Thor Magneto M.O.D.O.K. X-23 Rocket Raccoon Sentinel Iron Fist Taskmaster 9:15 this is a mod. there are a few of those in this video 11:34 no, that's shuma gorath. it's an eldritch horror. cuz marvel has those. or had before the disney acquisition or something idfk. corporate mergers make everything weird for IP's 13:56 bonus trivia: in this game, chris redfield's magnum is one of the highest durability projectile moves in the game allowing it to completely stuff the majority of other non super projectiles. chris himself also has one of the highest base healthpools in the game with 1,100,00 hp where the standard hp for a character is generally between 900,000 and 1,000,000 14:45 that was a level 1 super from Phoenix Wright, titled "ORDER IN THE COURT!" and it hits everyone caught in the super however the user and their allies take no damage, only suffering a knockdown 16:07 this was the most popular fighting game on the planet 17:17 that is a real ass combo, dawg 19:06 ZMC, also known as the "Zero May Cry Team" is composed of Zero, Dante and Vergil. it is a high execution team due to the low average health of the characters as well as the very tight timing of their combo structure (vergil notwithstanding) however, these characters also have the overall best variety of moves in the game that can cover effectively every possible situation that could feasibly occur and convert nearly any stray hit into a full combo that can realistically kill most of the entire roster from full health 20:08 X-23 is a biological near clone of wolverine and was created in a lab to be the perfect battlefield bio weapon 20:54 this game is sometimes lovingly referred to as a "kusoge" fighting game which is a japanese term for "shit" due in large part to many things in the game simply not working properly 20:55 fighting games are coming out right now with broken mechanics and character interactions. big name companies have improved on release quality greatly but that doesn't mean it can't happen anymore 22:56 hulk is not considered to be particularly good competitively speaking 23:47 Amaterasu is the japanese god of the sun among other things and the main character of the game okami 36:22 Dante is credited with having one of the largest movepools in the entire roster with 22 special moves and 9 command normals, several of each of which have variants attached to them and he is one of the most versatile characters in the game because of it 40:07 that is a technique called "wave dashing" and it will give you arthritis 41:49 what you just witnessed is what is technically known as a "Kara Cancel" some fighting games allow for this dpending on how their input reading system works where you can cancel the startup of a move, usually a normal, into another move, usually a special. Kara Cancels are generally used to get characters to move during certain moves to enable them to have more reach with the move they actually want to use though it has other applications as well as seen here

Fun Fact: This game originally came out right before Iron Man 3 released, so while most of the Marvel cast is based on the comics, Iron Man is based on Robert Downey Jr’s version of the character. They got a voice actor to sound near identical to him and replicate the personality 👍🏻

I know its 10 months late, but may as well. Capcom was arcade god during the 80s and 90s, and was commissioned by marvel to make an x-men fighting game. Due to it's success, they then made X-men vs Street Fighter, because that would appeal to both audiences (Also to use up chips because they had an overstock). That game was a major success, so Marvel offered a majority of their properties, which led to capcom doing the same, making the next game Marvel vs Capcom. They then made two sequels, with MvC2 still having tournament play even after MvC3 came out. A re-release with all the content and a bit more was then released, (that was kinda Capcoms thing, theres like 20 SF2s) and that re-release is UMvC3. We don't talk about MvCI.

A little history about Marvel vs Capcom for anyone who is interested: Marvel basically got in contact with Capcom to make a game called "X men: Children of the Atom", a fighting game released in 1996 with X Men characters, it was quite successful so Marvel got them to make another fighting game: "Marvel Superheroes" a year later. It also was successful, attracting the niche of comic book fans to arcades. But Street Fighter was always the BIG thing in arcades, so "Children of the Atom" and "Marvel Super Heroes" had some rough competition. But then, someone had a great idea. What if we made a fighting game with characters from the X men and from Street Fighter? Doing that would attract and potentially unite both niches. Then "X men vs Street Fighter" was born. The game was a massive hit, so they followed it up with "Marvel Super Heros vs Street Fighter" in 97. It was such a great hit that they tough "Hey, these games are getting a lot of attention, so why don't we put characters from other games we make in a attempt to promote them?". Then, in 1998, the first "Marvel vs Capcom" was born. "Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3" released in 2011 is like a celebration of both companies, the game have a roster of fan favorite characters like "The Avengers" and some "Street Fighter" characters, but also had more obscure characters. From Marvel we had obscure characters like Taskmaster, Rocket Raccoon, X23 and Dormamu (this was before the movies) From Capcom we had more obscure characters from old classics like Spencer (From the game "Bionic Comando.) and characters from niche but VERY beloved games like Amaterasu (From the work of art of a game named Okami) and Phoenix Wright (From the now 11 games long franchise: Ace Attorney) The last game of the franchise "Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite" was overall not very well recieved due to the lack of fan favorite characters (there was NO X Men characters due to legal issues) and a absolutely cringe inducing "Story mode" that no one asked for. Marvel vs Capcom 2 and 3 are still two of the most beloved and celebrated fighting games *ever made* .

I cannot believe you- ... actually, no. That's completely & upsettingly on-brand for you. Marvel Vs Capcom is a long running Arcade fighter, & is the cornerstone inspiration for almost every 3v3 2d fighter out there. Dragon Ball FighterZ is specifically the same formula as MvC, but with Dragon Ball characters specifically. "Why is it Marvel vs Capcom specifically? Are they owned by the same people?" First of all, no. No they are not. And secondly, strap into your britches, we're doing a history lesson. Way back when, in the days of the actual arcade machine rule, Capcom wanted to make another fighting game using their Street Fighter characters, & they wanted it to be a crossover game. Marvel gave Capcom permission to use the X-Men for this new game, & this is where it began: Street Fighter vs X-Men. This game did VERY well. So well in fact, that they were pressured to make a sequel ASAP. So SFvX-M 2 was made with an expanded roster. Around this time, other crossover fighters of the same premise were being made by Capcom. Most notable was Capcom vs Namco, which used a variety of different characters from a variety of the multitude of IPs both companies made. Street Fighter vs X-Men 2 was doing great, as expected, but they couldn't really do much more with it do to the limited roster of both respective franchises. There were only so many Street Fighters, & so many X-Men, after all. Marvel decided to cash in with an increased presence & gave them full rights to use ANYONE they owned, rather than limiting them to only the X-Men specifically. And so do that they did. Capcom followed suit, using more from their franchises besides Street Fighter specifically, though, they would always have a strong presence regardless. And so, the next big hit in the arcade cabinets was ready to launch: Marvel vs Capcom. And it was *_incredible._* The game made so much money that a sequel was demanded even faster than SFvXM was. Marvel vs Capcom 2 would go on to DEFINE the genre from there on. It became the backbone for Assists, how they functioned, & Team Supers. But the boys at Capcom were still cooking, with ideas for a third entry already stewing. Several years later, & the masterpiece of Marvel vs Capcom 3 was released to the public. Using the same formula as the previous game with the biggest roster of characters in the franchise. Including a brand new mechanic called "X-Factor" as an homage to the series' beginning. This powerup would be the inspiration for "Sparking" in FighterZ & any other mechanic of similar purpose. A while later, we received the expansion of the game Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, the game you're currently witnessing, with EVEN MORE CHARACTERS. One of the most notable being Vergil from DMC, carrying the tradition of Vergil only being playable in Special Edition of games lmao.

Okay, so Capcom is the Japanese game company that is most famous for games like Street Fighter and Resident Evil. Why Marvel vs. Capcom? Because Capcom made a killer good licensed X-Men fighting game back in the day called X-Men: Children of the Atom. The game went over so well, and fans were practically screaming to see it, so the first crossovergame happened with it's sequel, X-Men vs. Street Fighter, which again went over incredibly well, so the next game expanded the roster to be Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter, and the next game started to include Capcom characters other than Street Fighter, and thus Marvel vs. Capcom was born.

And while a lot of the other games didn't get as popular, the majority of them were really really good still. Capcom just had a tendency to cannibalize themselves by releasing like 3 different games of the same genre, in the same year.

"Why Marvel vs. Capcom?" Time to learn ya boi. Back in the mystical time known as the 90's, Marvel turned to Capcom to make an X-Men fighting game called "Children of the Atom". In CotA, Capcom added the character Akuma from Street Fighter as a guest. Following CotA's success, they then went on to make a game with other Marvel Heroes known simply as "Marvel Super Heroes". Following that, theu decided to rip off the band-aid and go full crossover with X-Men vs. Street Fighter, then Marvel Superheroes Vs. Street Fighter then adding more Capcom characters BESIDES just Street Fighter to become Marvel vs. Capcom. MvC 1 and ESPECIALLY 2 were some of the most critically acclaimed fighting games of their/all time and people were clamoring for a sequel for years That sequel finally came in the form of Marvel vs Capcom 3. Despite the visual and gamplay updates, the roster was a point of contention due to its signifcantly smaller size compared to MvC2. That would be addressed in ULTIMATE MvC3 which was a double edged sword because while Ultimate 3 did add a whole host of new additions to the base game, people were not too into Capcom's shtick of releasing updated versions of games that they JUST released After Marvel 3, people once again clamored for a sequel and eventually got one in the form of Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite but that is a story for another time...a story without a happy ending. Tl;dr: Capcom made a Marvel Fighting game and got permission to mix their own characters afterwards.

The OG Boulder-punching a**hole himself. Re1 is his first game. Re5 is basically him and Wesker seeing who's the bigger Chad. X-23 is related to Wolverine (daughter?). The only reason I know of her is the second xman movie. Phoenix Wright is a lawyer who looks for clues and holes in witness testimony to defend his clients. Edgeworth is from the same series, as a protagonist in a few games. Arthur is the protagonist from ghost and goblins. The game is infamously hard because he is two hits from dead at best in a game with collision damage, and getting the best ending requires not getting hit, at all! Will add more if still confused.

So some context to this video or game in general Umvc is the short version to Ultimate marvel vs capcom, this game brought so many people together because "if fighting game were food MvC is icecream pure unfiltired sugar that brings you hapiness" so yeah its a dream game because its a crossover and its known to be one of the most hype fighting games due to all the over the top energy it has. Maximillian Dood the final guy from the video is quite the important person in the fighting game community he has always been pretty close with developers and the community, for example he has appeared chilling with Harada (Tekken director) in one of his reaction videos, had involvement in Killer Instinct to the point he helped with the trailers and play testing, and overall a great dood that always love to bring people to fighting games and fighting games to the people (not only fighting games tho, even the people that made the FF7 Remake said that Max's video of happiness from reacting to the trailer inspired them to continue making the best remake possible). The reason MvC is quite important is because when the game was releasing or released, CAPCOM featured Max guide videos that he was doing with his friends and those videos brought so many people together to learn the game and also to learn about Max (i was one of them, also forgive my bad english im mexican and still quite struggle with grammar) Also little bit of context MvC is so important that whenever people see assist in any fighting game they will say "Its Mahvel / Its like Mahvel" because this game popularized the team aspect of fighting games, hell this inspired DBFZ as a whole, almost every mechanic from DBFZ is inspired from a mechanic from marvel

It even allows Infinites with 1 character)

20:10 so to expand on the info of X-23. Basically she’s one of those characters that were introduced in a media outside of the comics and due to the popularity actually became canon to the comics and part of the mythos. She’s a female clone of Logan via the damaged DNA and she only has two claws in hers hands and one in each foot. At first she was treated like Logan’s sister for a bit similar to Spider-Man and his clones until it was more of a father and daughter dynamic and further made with a retcon. Interesting enough that retcon makes sense, her DNA is half Logan’s and half of the woman who was pregnant with her and raised for a bit. So she’s his daughter in more ways than one. Also currently she shares the mantle of Wolverine as her father. Having a costume modeled after his and even having a panel that references his first comic book appearance. So calling X-23 now is like calling Logan Weapon X, which gets you an angry Wolverine Cartoon she appeared in was X-men: Evolution

So the story of how MvC came around was that in the 1990s after the comic book crash, Marvel was on the verge of bankruptcy and so was selling the license to all their characters left and right to keep the company afloat. Capcom got the rights to make a series of video games based on the X-Men and the Marvel Superheroes which then later crossed over with their own characters like Street Fighter and Darkstalkers. From then on Marvel vs Capcom was born! Also that funny little dash that characters keep doing is a technique called plinkdashing. In this game you can dash by pressing two buttons and you can cancel the startup frames of attacks into a dash. So you press L then L+M then L then repeat and you just go flying across the screen, its a key part of this games movement system.

So Marvel vs Capcom was originally a one-time thing in arcades, but became so popular they decided to make more. It’s a big staple of the fighting game community. Unfortunately, Marvel vs Capcom Infinite, the most recent one, hasn’t done too well because of Disney’s hold on the Marvel universe and since the X-Men couldn’t come back because they were outside of Disney’s copyright, people were really not happy since that contains most of the fan favorites. UMvC3 is played more often nowadays because it is one of the most chaotic fighting games out there, where basically everything is broken in some way. As you figured out, yes, X-Factor is basically Sparking. I also think I should mention this is where IHeartJustice’s name comes from. He’s a top level player at this game known for being one of the best Pheonix Wright players in the world. Max is also another big figure, but it’s hard to convey just how big of a figure Max is in the fighting game community. He’s made content of basically all fighting games for over a decade at this point and is universally respected by the community. Just a really cool guy.

If you're going to play a Zelda anytime soon, I suggest either Ocarina of Time or Breath of the Wild, but you say you don't like games with no direction so you might prefer Ocarina because In Breath of the Wild you can literally do anything you want. And the answer isn't wrong. Tears of the Kingdom is better but I never recommend sequels, not that you would be missing anything.
