    You could just leave food scraps outside your door for a few weeks. I'm sure it will attract something, maybe not mice, but something! Good luck!

    Murricath Thanks for the advice, but I’m not planning on getting mice as I have rats and love them dearly (I’m more of a rat person than a mouse one - although, don’t get me wrong, I still like mice) I think I’ll stick to getting pets from breeders or rescuing rather than attracting wild mice to keep as pets - I don’t think that’s my way of doing things :) but thank you anyway!

    Great review! One other con I can think of: the only access point is through the lid, rather than having doors on the front. If the Detolf is on a standard height shelf or dresser, one must stand on a step stool in order to scoop out bedding and clean the cage, which can be awkward and potentially dangerous (if one falls glass can break, etc.). It seems like having the only door be on top might be a problem for some folks, unless they keep it on the floor or a shorter piece of furniture...

    Yesss! The Detolf is such a good option, my females love it. They always run up to me using there ropes and the grey support rods (in the Detolf), its super cute but it can be a bit scary having them all try to escape outside using me as a climbing frame! (I don't want to lose or squish one).

  • @alextheawesome94

    I have a detolf for my two girls and they love it. Right now there's some bare stretches of space because *they've buried all the things * but that'll be remedied during the next cleaning. I can also say that having few mice on that space calls for even less cleaning. But either way cleaning the cage is easy and quick and cleaning of all their things honestly takes longer than cleaning the cage itself.

    I personally am not a huge fan of the detolf for mice simply due to its height. My girls love to climb so I like using a wire cage for them. The detolf doesn’t give the opportunity to provide a deep layer of bedding as well climbing opportunities. I use a skyline barney cage for my girls and it’s perfect as I can fit a lot of bedding in it as well as lots of hanging toys.

    The fact that you love your animals is so amazing. Coming from me, having loads of animals, they soon came to an end. But otherwise that, your mice and rats are beautiful, gorgeous. It’s a smart decision to use different coats to tell them apart, and to separate them. My cage is a very big enclosure. (I don’t know the size by heart, sorry!) I actually used to use household items for the dishes, but some of my mice had actually choked on them, so I saved up money and bought loads of stuff for mice. It’s based on nature like your tank, and it’s inspired. I have 5 mice per tank, their categorized by sex. Anyways, I hope you see this and I want you to stay safe, stay well, and goodnight/goodmorning/good afternoon!

    Ahh my hamster chewed that hole too, I didn’t see the hole when I was making it and he obviously didn’t know it was the end of the cage and just saw something to chew, I was very shocked, he chewed it a lot more than that thou, I still need to fix it but I found that just slotting in a bit of thick sturdy cardboard stops him from chewing the hole because- there is nothing for him to get his teeth around, instead he has finally used his chew toys, but I’m glad to see I’m not the only one who had the hole chewing problem

    You can make the detof taller by basically just attaching legs to the lids 4 Legs per lid, put the same mesh you have at the top between the legs, tho you might have to add a bottom (copy the lid without the mesh) so they cant escape on the sides i dunno how you would attach a hinge too that but you can just lift it up and off the detof, shouldnt be too heavy

    For me with mice I think I’d find that I wouldn’t be able to fit enough bedding as I like to put at least a foot for my 5 mice and in my opinion they need considerably more height, my mice currently live in a converted wardrobe though I’m thinking of upgrading them again, I also have two mice living in a “rat” cage, I find it too small for rats but it’s a little bit bigger than the Freddy rat cage, they do pretty well in there and I could probably keep about 5 mice in there, I’d also think 7 mice in the detolf is somewhat overcrowded. I had 5 mice in a barney pet cage and felt it was too small for them all.

    you should check out shadow the rat's videos on how to introduce rats, I followed her method and everything worked great. Also you probably know this but just in case please don't just put them in the cage together, that's really dangerous

  • @MyPerfectMischief

    @MyPerfectMischief

    4 жыл бұрын

    As long as the remaining rat is still generally healthy, then it should be okay to bring in a new rat. Introductions are stressful and if your remaining rat isn't in great health, you could compromise it greatly. I would recommend getting 2 more rats (especially if you're getting babies, which are the easiest to introduce). As already mentioned, intros are stressful, and the babies can go to each other for support. Also, babies have A LOT of energy, while an older rat will have less. The babies will play with each other, but if there's only one, then it will likely annoy the heck out of the older rat. My go-to intro method is the carrier/small space method. I've used it successfully 5 times now. I found that Google was actually more helpful with the details than any video on KZread, but definitely check out both.

    I have three mice. They live in a kallax that me and my dad built (mostly my dad). Me made bridges to the upper level and holes in the sides. You can see one of them in my profile picture🐭 It’s three guys. They are my first mice and I know that guys often fight but mine are very friendly and cuddly towards each other I’m very happy about that. I have a plan b if they do start fighting. The brown one in the picture is Egon Olsen from a danish movie(I just call him Egon) The Second is albino🐁 and is named Alvin like Alvin and the chipmunks🐿(my little brother named him) And the thrird one is albino🐁 too and is called Viggo (my friend Victoria named it) I love them very much❤️🐭❤️ (wow that’s a long comment)

    Hi emiology I need your help please help my mice all 7 of them are over 40 grams I think 3 of them over 50 please make a video on it as I may not be the only person having this problem and we really need help as they are bigger than my palm and they can't fit in there wheel a 8 inch

  • @Emiology

    @Emiology

    If they’re all overweight you need to not give them any treats and reduce the amount of food you’re giving them. Try to have more play time where they can run around outside their enclosure if they’re not using a wheel to help them lose weight

    would it be okay to do either half the cage for a hamster and half for two/three female mice or a quarter of the cage for two female mice and then 3 quarters for the hamster? i have been researching a lot about mice and apparently it’s better for them to have less space than a hamster

  • @Emiology

    @Emiology

    3 жыл бұрын

    A lot of hamsters still aren't happy even in a detolf and need more space, so I wouldn't split it. I also wouldn't split the cage unless I was completely confident it could be done in a way that they would never come into contact, probably best to have two entirely separate enclosures :)
