IS THIS A DOG WITH ACID REFLUX? UPDATE: PROBLEM SOLVED 100%

#dogacidreflux #dogibs #doglicking
Meet my little guy Cj. This video was originally posted when I was searching for a diagnosis and answers as to how to help him. I discussed Cj’s “symptoms” that you see in the video with 7 different vets and got nowhere. Watching him go through what you see him doing in the video was heartbreaking for me and not finding answers for so long (1 ½ years) was frustrating, stressful and difficult for both of us.
Since then, we have come a long way and I have learned so much about the body. Why it breaks down, why we get sick, why we are diagnosed with so called disEASE’s and how it is indeed possible to regenerate the body’s cells and organs no matter how old we are, no matter what genetics we came with and no matter what the pain or symptom is.
Since posting this video, Cj’s “symptoms” that you see in the video are just about gone and his health has improved to where we can almost say that he is 100% “cured.” What you see him doing in this video is so much more than just acid reflux. The body works as a whole and the body’s 1st line of defense against disEASE is the digestive tract. The 2nd line of defense against disEASE is the liver and the 3rd line of defense is the endocrine glands.
My passion now has become to teach as many others out there how simple it to restore health back into the body and how the body will heal itself if given the proper tools to do so. My two mentors/health wizards have 30+ years of experience and knowledge with working with food as medicine. If you or your furry one is having any kind of pain or symptom or has been diagnosed with any kind of disEASE feel free to contact me and I would love to mentor you and work with you one on one. I do not charge any fees for my knowledge and service and we have complete, detailed diet recommendations.

Awww jj Ss - You caught me! Yes you will have to buy your own dog his/her food and will have to buy some food supplements too. Actually...hmmmm I believe that is mentioned right below the posted video. I don't however sale any of the food or any of the supplements myself - just so we are clear on that. As soon as I have more than enough money to go around I will be more than happy to buy all of the proper food for all the furry ones out there too. Heck I'll even buy the healthy food for you too. Any ideas jj Ss on how I can make enough money to buy all the proper food for everyone out there? Big donations from you perhaps?

Hi. I was wondering if you'd consider creating a series of tutorials, where you teach these "lengthy/detailed/too long for KZread" techniques to help others who love their pooches as much as you love CJ. It would create a way for you to educate those who truly want to learn and most importantly help our babies who are in such discomfort. You could break up the info into segments & could ask each viewer to allow the ads to play in it's entirety so thay you get paid for each view. We all just want the best for our babies. Please consider my suggestion. You could help improve the quality so many lives.

My dog (rescued in 01/2021) started doing this in 2022 and it was recurring regularly. After taking her to 3 different vets for their opinion and I was very thorough in describing all the symptoms: usually starts in the middle of the night and it would wake her up from her sleep, retching, regurgitating food, excessive swallowing/gulping, hyper-salivating, it also sounds like she has hiccups (movement from her stomach), etc. I even showed them videos and recording of what is happening when she would have this episode. After several thousands $$$ on X-rays, blood tests, sending off x-rays and blood samples to experts, office visits, etc, my dog didn't have chronic heart failure, collapsed trachea, lung issues, etc. The third vet, last month (10/2023), after $600 for exam and x-rays, suggested to do a procedure to clean out her lungs, etc. It sounded so invasive and I wasn't going to allow it and put my dog's life in danger without concrete evidence of what the problem is. After doing my own extensive research, I finally concluded that it was acid reflux. It's so disappointing that 3 vets couldn't figure out what the issue is especially with the vivid description and video recording of the symptoms. What a waste of $$$ spent on supposedly experienced and educated vets who couln't come up with a diagnosis.

@@grayfreeman my dog still has recurring heartburn/acid reflux. I still haven't narrowed down what triggers it. She eats fresh, homemade food with ingredients rotated pretty much every week, so she doesn't get new foods introduced to her. I am thinking it is the way she eats, which is extremely fast and swallows everything (no chewing), she doesn't drink much water which is weird compared to my previous dog who passed away who drank with each meal and drank a good amount of water during the day. When she has an episode, I give her .5 mg of Pepcid AC at night (usually when it starts). Then during breakfast, I empty a capsule of Slippery Elm into her food. For dinner, I give her another .5 mg of Pepcid AC. Then the following AM, another capsule of Slippery Elm. So far it seems to be working. I also bought her a bowl with a stand so she doesn't have to bend down her neck when eating/drinking, Hope you can find a solution that works and helps your pup. Best wishes to you and the pup.

My newest older rescue started this along with scooping her nose across the floor eating every speck of dirt etc in corners etc. my vet told me it’s acid ingestion and to split a gaviscon in 1/2 and give her. (She’s 25lb) For 2 years I’ve only had to give her it 3x. Immediately she stopped and was better. Last night 1/2 didn’t work. Gave another. (It was 3am) still not better. She wanted to eat all houseplants on my deck. (Which can be poisonous) we don’t treat our yard with pesticides etc. got her on leash and let her go outside to eat as much grass till she puked. Then she took a more firm poop (she had loose bowel for few days) and so far much better. All this may or may not be related in her case. Be careful though and watch them urinate. A year ago she had to undergo stone removal from her bladder. She got blocked and couldn’t urinate. This is immediate visit to vet or can die within 24 hrs. By time we notice who knows how long been going on. So don’t wait. I don’t know if this can contribute to stones due to their systems being to acidic. I rescue and have heard a huge epidemic in stones lately. Thinking due to food. But there are 3 different types of stones and until it is removed and biopsied can you know proper diet to feed them to prevent stones. Usually underlying infection can also contribute. I’m so thankful I adopted her still. She obviously would be gone by now. She was on kill list that night in high kill shelter in south. She’s really the most perfect dog. Just need to get her diet straightened up. Also on utube watch vet secrets guy who talks about all naturalpathic treatments for pets. Watch the dm (plus 2 more letters. Sorry don’t remember it now) made from pine trees. Rub on bladder area on outside to treat stones etc in bladder. (Cost about 10$ and should last long long time) He’s helped me many times. Love and care for the ones who’d die to protect you!!

C.J.'s Mommy: My baby boy is suffering. I just ran into this researching everything I can to try to find out his problem. I would prefer doing it naturally because of financial and it's hard to trust the vet's a lot unless you are familiar. I know that my 6 year old lab/pit is having digestive problems. We just did a big move(stress). Have been changing the food, so that part is all messed up. His exercise has been hindered. He has been regurgitating. Mostly spitting up after eating with his burps. When I feed him dog food, he has been vomiting it back up. The only thing in the last couple of days is when I make him rice and chicken or rice and hamburger with eggs too. I would like to know what you have learned. Thank you.

My dog just woke me up doing exactly what your cj did. She too has been dealing with this for over a year. I used to give her 10 mg of famotidine daily, but it doesn't always work. And she developed a collapsed disc and had to be put on galliprant, which I've since weaned her from daily dose to every few days. That seemed to help a little with the air licking & gulping but she's at it again. I'm going email you soon discuss the protocol you used to help cj. Thanks

I am experiencing the same event with my dog. We feed only small amts. of canned dog food and give one 10 MG famotine a day which can bought at wal-mart. It seems to help. We use to give her famotine years ago when she had stomach problems as a puppy and was recommended potato and rabbit dog food by a veternarin. She now eats potatoes and duck dog food because potato and rabbit was taken off the market. It is a very good food. Some dogs have very sensitive stomachs.

Carol - Organic Apple Cider Vinegar is the most effective home remedy for acid reflux. It helps with digestion and helps balance acid production in the stomach. Cat: add 3 drops in 1/4 cup of water. Add 1 teaspoon to every meal given. Toy dog: 10 drops in 1/4 cup of water, add 1 tablespoon to every meal. Small dog: 20 drops (1 teaspoon) in 1/4 cup of water, add 1 tablespoon to every meal. Med-Large dog: 2 teaspoons in 1 cup of water, add 2 tablespoon to every meal.

My german shorthair of 15 years old has had this for two years. However its much more dramatic. He licks the walls, his bedding and in terrible distress. His hair falls out immediatly and runs out to eat grass. The muscles in his neck an back are stiff. Dr treated him with Pepcid AC orignal, one half in am and one half in pm before his chicken and rice food, He only eats a small amount of purina dog food now, and rarely. He is also on zanex if needed, and tramadol if the pain is severe. I encourage plenty of water and sometimes I will add some salt to bring up a much needed burp. Sometimes he is sound asleep and at 3 am jumps up licking everything. Panting to eat grass. Also I give him Cafafate. i dont know what is causing this, his diet is chicken and rice...thats all.

Yes it,s acid reflux, my girl golden retriever suffers this "crisis" since she was neutered last year. Now we ís almost recovered but taking lots of meds, IPBs, sucralfate, metroclopamide, changing diet and feeding frecuent small meals. Dont be afraid to try meds with him and it needs a long treatment to see recovering. acid reflux can damage the esophagus and make a strichure.

My dog has Acid reflux, you must feed lower fat diet as fat makes more stomach acids causing acid reflux, fat% in a kibble should be 10% fat & under if feeding wet tin food it should have 2% fat & under for fat, as wet tin food has higher fat content, the best is turkey breast mince 99% fat free, I add 1 egg to 1 kilo turkey breast mince & I make little bite size rissoles & bake in oven around 15mins, then I freeze & take out when needed they thaw in 20mns, mash up the turkey rissole & add some boiled sweet potatoes, feed this for about 3-5days until the stomach settles down then only feed a low fat diet wet food is better then kibbles for acid reflux... also I give about 3ml Mylanta for a 18kilo dog he weights around 36lbs, larger dog about 5ml Mylanta in a syringe just squirt in mouth or put on a teaspoon, its messy as they don't like the taste, but it stops the acid reflux coming up into throat & settles the stomach until you go vet & get something stronger like Zantac (Ranitidine) or Pepcid (famotidine) tablets, that you give 1 hour before food every 12 hours...

Hi Sharon Harris, sound like your dog has allergies to foods, you have to work out what foods she is allergic to, an elimination diet is the best or you can have a salvia test done Jean Dodds "Nutri-scan" test, it will eliminate most of the foods that are in dog foods...... Feeding more & smaller meals a day is good but you still have the skin allergies to deal with as well..... Malaseb medicated shampoo is really good, it kills any bacteria on their skin but doesn't dry out their skin, I have to bath every 5-7 days as soon as I see him scratching, try & leave the Malaseb shampoo on for 5-10mins, I give a massage so it passes the time. Have you tried a low fat, limited ingredient, Hypoallergenic, gluten free diets, not vet diets as they have wheat & crap in them, There's "California Natural" or "Natural Balance" limited ingredient kibbles... the "California Natural" has their Lamb & rice kibble with just 4 ingredients or their Brown rice & Chicken formula Weight management kibble has only 7%min-fat -8.24%max-fat or the "Natural Balance" has their Kangaroo & Potatoes or the Rabbit or the duck flavours the other Natural Balance limited ingredient flavours has a few more ingredients like peas & pea fiber,, just remember less is best with food when there's skin & stomach problems.. With the scooting along the floor, she may need her anal glands emptied, a vet can do this or you can do it, there's a few videos on You tube showing you how to do it also change vets he shoulds like a idiot he should of emptied her anal glands they are probably full,...

WHEN THE BODY BECOMES TOO TOXIC FROM AN IMPROPER DIET, MEDICATIONS AND IMMUNIZATIONS IT BEGINS TO BREAK DOWN AND USUALLY THE WEAKEST LINK IN THE BODY DISPLAYS SIGNS OF SYMPTOMS. NO MATTER WHAT THE DIAGNOSIS - AS SOON AS YOU FEED THE BODY RIGHT AND TAKE AWAY FROM THE BODY WHAT IS MAKING IT TOXIC SYMPTOMS SLOWLY DISAPPEAR. I'm so sad to hear that your poor dog is doing this. Unfortunately, I don't believe vets will ever figure this out and you are right "It's hell." We went to or talked to a total of 7 different vets and spent thousands of dollars. When a dog is doing what I call "obsessive licking" it is the body's way of trying to detoxify itself. Everything we give to our dog to eat, drink and what we put on their skin play a huge part as to how well their body functions. What happens is when the body continues to be given improper foods or things that are toxic to the body is that the body's gut health becomes compromised. This in turn impairs the body’s four main processes (absorb, digest, utilize, eliminate) and the body becomes overburdened with too many toxins/wastes as a cellular level. The body then in turn starts to display pain and symptoms which is the body's way in trying to let us know something we are doing is wrong. I have learned a whole lot since posting this video and now work full time sharing and teaching individuals how to heal their dog, cat or even their own body from all kinds of health issues. Please feel free to email me at: julz@pawriffichealth.com OR go to my new website ~ pawriffichealth.com and click on FREE RECOMMENDATIONS if you are interested in learning further and having me help you with your poor dog.

Hi Shellie....It's all about feeding your dog an enzymatically, alive, real food diet and cleaning and rebuilding the body back to health. The body has “Four Basic Processes” 1) Digestion 2) Absorption 3) Utilization 4) Elimination. Digesting, absorbing, utilizing and eliminating are ongoing and consistent processes. When one or more of these processes is impaired the body as a whole begins to suffer. When we are unable to digest, absorb, utilize and eliminate properly the body then gets backed up and we become acidic. This is when the body begins to display symptoms. Symptoms are actually nothing more than the body merely adapting to the fact that it is too deficient and toxic and unable to detoxify itself properly. Give me a call or email me and I can help you step by step with your dog. #435-313-2662 OR raveagency.jk@gmail.com

Hi Frank ~ Thank you so much for your comment and I am so sorry that your dog struggles with “acid reflux.” I agree to a point that acid reflux can be caused by numerous things or at least it appears that way. However, what I have come to learn and now know is that the problem ultimately is due to poor digestive and elimination health and the primary cause is what we are giving to our dog like the food and water they drink. Yes, there are drugs like you said that can “manage” the problem BUT back when my little guy Cj was going through this I wanted to fix/heal the problem rather than treat or mange what was going on. You indicated that you previously were giving your dog Pepcid once per day but now you are giving it twice daily. I thought I would share with you a bit of what I have come to learn when it comes to drugs ~ Our standard medical system uses medications to try to take away as many signs and symptoms as possible rather than to fix what is actually causing the problem in the first place. However, when you use medications, you are basically making a deal with the devil because medications impair very necessary life functions in your dog’s body. All medications (including topical ones) S T O P or S L O W or BREAK down the body’s natural metabolic processes. Medications change how the body communicates with itself. When the body is unable to communicate effectively the body begins to breakdown. Drugs create a more dangerous situation in the body so the initial negative symptoms go away as the body attempts to take care of the new problems created by the drugs. For example, taking Tylenol for pain creates havoc on the liver so the body's attention to the inflammation that is causing the pain is diverted to the liver and the pain temporarily disappears. However, the main cause of the inflammation was never addressed and the drug(s) continue to poison and weaken the kidneys, liver and other organs. As a result, the body’s immune (lymphatic) system becomes weaker and weaker. Working with a healthy diet and food supplements address the causes of the negative symptoms and not just mask the symptoms. The use of multiple medications is also very problematic because nobody has any idea how these cocktail concoctions are going to interact not only with the body but also with one another. Basically, it’s a cocktail of horror that will wreak havoc on the body. The thing to focus on is the cause rather than the symptoms if you want to truly heal the body. Much love and respect and certainly wishing the best for you and your pup. ❤💙

He has inflammatory bowel disease, and his condition is severe at this point. He can hardly eat a thing without feeling sick and getting reflux. You can hear his stomach across the room. At this point I fear there is no diet that will turn his condition around.

I'm so sorry to hear about your dog. I know how frustrating it can be trying to find answers too. The reason a dog will do this is because their body is trying to detoxify itself. When the body becomes backed up with too many toxins/wastes on a cellular level the body starts to look for another way to remove the backed up toxins/wastes. These problems start with poor digestive health and then poor liver and kidney health. Slowly things will continue to go downhill until you stop doing the things that are causing the problem and start giving the body the tools it needs to fix the poor digestive, liver and kidney health. Feel free to reach out to me further and I would be more than happy to do FREE recommendations for your poor dog. Best wishes to you both.

These hacking / clearing episodes seem to go away immediately after she has eaten and return hours after her last meal. From what i have read, she seems to have gerd and the stomach acid or undigested food is backing up into her esophocus and agitating her collapseing trachea. A collapsing trachea would also have this symptom of hacking / throat clearing noise.

+AbigailsMom99 PhatMama THE PROBLEM WITH PEPTO AND PEPCID AND ALL OTHER ANTACID MEDICATIONS IS THAT THEY INHIBIT DIGESTION AND CAUSE NUTRIENT DEFICIENCIES WHICH WILL NOT HELP HEALING AT ALL. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND PEPTO, PEPCID OR ANY OTHER ANTACID MEDICATIONS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. EVEN IF TOO MUCH STOMACH ACID IS THE PROBLEM THIS IS JUST A SYMPTOM OF A DYSFUNCTIONAL DIGESTIVE TRACT AND DIET. THE PEPTO IS IS THEN JUST TREATING THE SYMPTOM IF ANYTHING AND NOT GETTING TO THE UNDERLYING PROBLEM WHICH IS IMPROPER FOOD BEING EATEN AND LACK OF GOOD BACTERIA IN THE GUT. ONCE THE PEPTO IS STOPPED THE PROBLEM WILL LIKELY COME BACK WORSE THAN BEFORE. PEPTO DOES NOT HAVE A HEALING EFFECT ON THE BODY. BETTER TO CHANGE THE DIET AND USE HIGH QUALITY PROBIOTICS AND DIGESTIVE ENZYMES TO PROMOTE BETTER DIGESTION. THIS IS A LONG TERM SOLUTION. JULZ (CJ'S MOM) #435-313-2662 OR raveagency.jk@gmail.com

BETTER TO GET TO THE ROOT OF THE PROBLEM AND RESOLVE THE ACID REFLUX FOR GOOD BY PROPER DIET AND THE RIGHT SUPPLEMENTS TO HEAL THE BODY. YES YOU CAN USE ORGANIC APPLE CIDER VINEGAR HOWEVER YOUR STILL MERELY PUTTING JUST A BAND-AID ON THINGS AND NOT GETTING TO THE ROOT OF THE PROBLEM. THE ROOT OF THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE DIGESTION ISN'T WORKING PROPERLY AND THAT THE BODY ISN'T BEING FED PROPERLY AND/OR IS TOO TOXIC. IF YOU ARE GOING TO USE ORGANIC APPLE CIDER VINEGAR YOU SHOULD START OUT GIVING THE DOG JUST A LITTLE BIT AND WORK UP TO 1 TEASPOON DAILY PER 15 LBS OF THE DOGS BODY WEIGHT. IT CAN BE PUT IN DRINKING WATER OR JUST MIXED INTO A MEAL. BUT AGAIN, THIS IS JUST A BAND-AID APPROACH...IT ISN'T FIXING THE PROBLEM AND WHEN YOU DON'T FIX THE PROBLEM THE BODY WILL SLOWLY OVER TIME ONLY PROGRESS TO MORE HEALTH PROBLEMS/SYMPTOMS...IT'S THAT SIMPLE.

Organic apple cider vinegar is not a "band-aid" It is a health-improving "supplement", a source of important nutrients and an effective topical treatment for canine ailments. Top priority should be to AVOID acid- provoking foods, meaning HIGHLY PROCESSED COMMERCIAL FOOD, (same goes for people). Bacteria, virus' and diseased cells thrive in an acidic environment. He is 70lbs so it shouldn't have been too much especially diluting it with the water, but he threw up immediately and his stomach didn't settle to eat until the next day. My dog (Basset hound) had the exact same issue for years. We went through every possible scenario: seizure, heartburn, OCD, allergies. We ran every test we could at the vet. Finally, we decided to try some superior quality probiotics (Petlab Probiotics Chew), and let me tell you: IT CHANGED EVERYTHING. It took a few months before we saw any results, but now we really can tell the difference. The gulping is far less frequent, and far less intense (he had some episodes where he could barely breath back then). So if you feel as hopeless as we did back in the days, try some good probiotics (for a few months) before giving up!

Wow! So much of what you said there about how you went through every possible scenario such as seizures, heartburn, etc....that was us too! I'm so happy to hear that your Basset hound is doing much better. Probiotics too are a BIG part of what we learned too that worked BUT diet is also a BIG piece of the puzzle too. So, happy your dog had some positive results with adding probiotics. Years back I didn't know anything about probiotics myself and what a game changer they can truly be. I do know using a high-quality, human grade probiotic that includes a mineral as well as using the right amount (which varies from dog to dog) can and does make a difference too. Thanks so much for taking time out of your busy day to comment here. Your comment is helpful to others. Sending you and your pup a hug! 💛

@@pawriffichealth I agree with you about the diet! I forgot to mention it. We switched for salmon based dog food (high grade quality food). We noticed that meat such as chicken, beef and especially turkey triggered a lot of these episodes for our basset!

@@annakbashton Ahh okay so you did switch your dogs diet too...thanks for letting me know. 😀 As far as meat triggering "episodes" for your dog we too experienced that with Cj. What I have come to learn when it comes to meat is if a dog is fed a diet that is too high in animal protein it overburdens the body's kidneys and cells and it can become harmful to the body. The reason is because meat breaks down into ammonia in the body. If the kidneys are functioning well ammonia is excreted as waste in the urine. This will work as long as the body's mineral reserves are adequate and the kidneys continue to function well, but slowly overtime too much animal protein can be problematic. Thanks again for sharing your valuable info here. Give your pup a hug from me!💛💙💗💜

Due to much research I have indeed become familiar with the Megaesophagus condition. So sorry to hear that your dog Bailey apparently has that condition because it sure looks like an awful one to me. I'm pretty certain that we are luckily not dealing with that condition. Every now and then Cj has been known to throw up but in general it isn't right after eating a meal. Your burping technique was something I hadn't yet heard of - so I found that interesting. Thanks for sharing and commenting.

Abigails mom -Apple Cider Vinegar is the most effective home remedy for acid reflux (for you and your dog/cat) It helps with digestion and helps balance acid production in the stomach.

Why not post the information here directly?? Why would you ask people to call you or email you?? If you have found a solution, then share it. Very simple! Otherwise the whole thing feels very fishy and not trustworthy. Do you want to help? Then do. You went through the trouble of making a video when your dog was having the issue, and then you say he is cured. Why don't you post a current video showing how well he's doing? Perhaps that will help towards getting some credibility. Then post your findings right here. End of story.

Why ask people to call or email me? I have actually responded to this question before here in the comments section, but will try now to elaborate further. First, people have to understand what is causing the body to display pain and symptoms in the first place. There is going to be slow diet start up recommendations, then there is going to be ongoing diet recommendations provided according to how your dog's health improves. There are instructions on what food capsules to order and how much to give your dog depending on how much your dog weighs and how unhealthy your dog is. There are instructions on what toxic chemicals you don't want to be giving to your dog. As your dog's health improves his/her body will begin to detox. A lot of people do not understand detoxing and I work one on one with you to help you and your dog through the detoxing symtoms that will occur as detox is all about healing the body. So, there is not one, dead set of instructions for every dog. It is going to be different depending on the situation. As far as posting updated videos....if only there was more time in life. I have been working 60 to 65 hours per week now for the last year. However, here coming up in the next several weeks my life is about to change and I will have more time and you can definitely plan on more videos including an update on Cj. The upcoming videos will also include some basic tips on how to keep your dog healthy and hopefully as you put it gain "trust" from others as I assure you there is nothing "fishy" about me, Cj or what I have learned. There is however, a lot of things "fishy" about the world we live in.

No firm diagnosis yet. Still trying to figure it out. This weekend I'm reluctantly resorting to trying an over the counter antacid medication. I'm not a fan of medications but, I've tried using a few supplement/holistic type approaches along with diet changes and have had no real success. He's seen three different vets. You can follow my blog for more info at: julzjoe.blogspot.com Please if you figure anything out with your dog let me know. Thx
