    @joco2k The question is "Was it a 'problem'?" In Mozart's case you can deny it. Yes, Mozart's life would have been different without his dad making concert tours that early with his two children. But Wolferl really enjoyed it! Another example of prodegies are the three Polgar sisters playing chess. For the youngest and most successful Judit it was a joy playing chess! For the middle one Zsophia it wasn't the case (probably because her older and younger sisters were better than her) ... It all depends what the child thinks (later) of his/her childhood ... (Of course parents should care and love their children but I don't see too much pressure here. The way Ariel speaks here is very original.)

  • @MusikPiratCH

    @MusikPiratCH

    4 жыл бұрын

    @joco2k What's so important about "general consensus" or "political correctness"? It's only trying to please everybody. This is simply impossible! :P In Mozart's case you were dead wrong. And I'm pretty sure that Ariel will make "his way" (as in Sinatra's song)! :D

  • @MusikPiratCH

    @MusikPiratCH

    4 жыл бұрын

    @joco2k I see it differently. As long as the child likes what he/she is doing there is nothing wrong with it! And you can see in this report that Ariel likes playing the piano and to compose. The only thing that might have been too much was this late "gig" (I really don't know why it's called "gig")! There you clearly see that Ariel was too tired. He should have been stopped for his own good. Professional isn't an attitude here. But every thing else was pure fun for Ariel. That's all that counts! Therefore I simply disagree with most of you! :P

    Playing hard pieces does not equate to good musicianship, like what the kid said - he does not like being labelled as a prodigy because nowadays being a prodigy means playing fast and hard songs. The obvious difference between the asian kids youre talking about, and the kid in the video is that the kid in the video has actual musican essence, he composes his own pieces. And do you think those asian kids know how to create their own craft (compose music)? I doubt it, because all those "prodigious" asians only know how to play Chopin and Rachmaninoff, thats all. The most those asian kids end up in is in a master class to master a piece thats already been created, or play a concerto of an existing classical piece, whereas this kid in the video can actually become a brilliant and a world changing composer one day.

    It's one thing if he's doing this because he's enjoying it and loves it. It's another if he's doing it to feel loved by parent's approval. If he's tired, he should be allowed to stop. He chose to be professional. That tells me he chose his listeners over his own well-being. I wonder if that has been instilled or if it's from a place of loving to perform and satisfy his listeners. He's great but also deserves a childhood. ❤

    A superb Talent. However, I was astonished and disappointed that the father was more than willing to take credit for his sons brilliance by saying it was because he was exposed to music from the beginning and not due to his sons innate abilities! What a massive ego his Father possesses. He then pushes his son to continue playing at a bar when he is exhausted. To top it off, his son is in tears when he cannot play his best because he is tired and his father fails to support or encourage him. I do find his parents exploitive. For those who say he is fake, they are clearly unaware of musical Talent, which this young man possesses in abundance. It is a shame his parents do not cherish him for who he is rather than what he can accomplish.

    Kenneth Fils Actually scientifically exposing a child to something at a younger age will steer the brain to develop more on the thing you exposed your child to, whether it be being good at cooking or being able to play different instruments at different levels - hence a child prodigy or genius. However the part that I can agree with you is that the father is definitely putting too much pressure on the young child.

Seriously though, nobody said that the exposure did nothing, just that it wasn't the sole contributor- you can't possibly say that it was. Cheesey Kakei I do have to side with Skeptics slightly in that you are putting too much down as developed, rather than natural. You seemed to imply that being a genius is completely down to your life rather than predetermined, which is completely wrong- you can get smarter or dumber, but you are still naturally starting out at a certain place, and you really cant go from an IQ of 90 to 144.

    Wonderful! In every sense of the word. Mozart, Saint-Saens and many others were extremely gifted at an early stage in their lives. I love everything about this family and how it has provided such a healthful climate for this young man! Keep up the great work Ariel; however, don't burn yourself out. There is plenty of time if God gives it to you! It is not about being young; it is about being musically sound at any age - bottom line.

    “Don’t film me, don’t film me”- you could tell there that the only reason the dad acted like he thought it wasn’t that bad was because he didn’t want to look bad under the cameras.

    Lovely looking little boy with great talent. So young and concerned that he feels obliged to carry on with the show. He will get over it, children are very resilient and he will live to enjoy another day and amaze his audiences with his ingenuity.
