Is this 1 step the difference between a PRO tune or a HACK job?

Once we’ve completed the dyno tuning, it’s always advisable to confirm your tune on the road or racetrack. This can allow us to find small discrepancies between what we saw on the dyno in terms of air-fuel ratio. We can then use histograms to quickly analyse a large amount of data and apply the required changes to the fuel or VE table. For this webinar we’ll be using MLVHD.

YES! Histograms and the (MAPxRPM/100)xDutyCycle scatter plots are huge tools. MLV is the absolute best. It drives me crazy watching guys try to tune using a single drag run or similar limited data set.

Love the histogram view. I did a lot of refinement on my Celica GT-Four, with Speeduino on this. Conventional mapping, then left a laptop in the car and went for a 2 hour drive around cruise and country lanes. Pulled over, made some tweaks, and repeated 2-3 times. Then did a track day for the really high loads cells. That car drove amazingly well for what it was.

MlVHD is the bees knees. Helped me tune my Turbocharged motorcycle doing exactly this, using the histogram.

I always finish a tune by building histograms from logs to compare to targets I've set. Obviously setting the correct filters and looking at the meaningful datas is essential. The most painful in the process is sometimes finding a way to import datas in megalogHD. For me it's great tool to have in my toolbox, which sometimes helps to spot non-optimal settings

I've loved working with MLVHD and the histogram features in particular, although I find it difficult to configure the filters with enough authority to remove small map and throttle fluctuations. I'm sure there are resources out there on how to modify the filter formulas that I simply haven't found yet, but if anyone happens to know of one I'd be grateful to know. My car in particular is extremely sensitive to even minor levels of MAPdot and TPSdot due to the somewhat large throttle and non-ideal injector placement. Thank you for the great video as always.

Awesome video Andre. I use EFILive, but obviously the principles are the same. I dont know how anyone can tune without logs and call themselves a tuner. Must be allot of hacks out there!

Sure are but customers are also smarter than ever given what information is out there these days, so it's harder and harder for people to cut corners and not be called out for it compared to 10 - 15 years ago even. There will always be some element of shadiness or incompetence, you get that in any industry, but the more information there is out there the less and less it happens which is cool 😎 - Taz.

why wouldn't a aftermarket ecu platform not use this form of tuning? i like this method with honda obd1 stuff but with the fueltech it seems unavailable, really helps for drive tunes and making changes without much attention
