Speaking to Hasbro Marvel Legends and Black Series, hard plastic skirts, dresses, and other hanging/draping clothing just doesn't work anymore. If a character like Agatha from Wanda/Vision or Nick Fury has a dress or a long coat, Hasbro needs to just bite the bullet and give them soft goods otherwise they have almost no articulation and aside from that it just doesn't look good.

?? Personally I think *most* soft goods on 6" figures tend to look way worse than plastic/rubber.

The only value that ever should have been in it is enjoyment. If you still enjoy it then there's still value.

I love Transformers, especially triple changers and combiners! You can pose them in bot mode and vary your displays by different categories, colors, factions and get some good play time. Learning how to transform them can be a pain but once you've got it figured out they are awesome. You get a character, a vehicle or animal AND a puzzle😂

Absolutely. There is a TON of play value and experience with Transformers. Good call.

I'm also on a downward slop on collecting. I'm just focused on only what i remember at this point.

For "modern figures" not really, for vintage stuff, yes. If anyone thinks they're putting their kids through college by collecting modern stuff, I'm afraid the market is just not going to be there in 15 -20 years as us 70's and 80's kids (who carry the market now) start aging out and moving on.

I'm thinking the same thing... I'm starting to unload some of my huge huge collection. Not easy.. Just local facebook marketplace dealing so far but I have so much.. Trying to figure it out. I don't see the market being great and like ten years or so..

Great insights as usual. Watch each line. If they cut the given value, cut them down from being included. Facts 💯 too many lines to consider otherwise. The articulation and hands, sculpts and soft goods need to be there. Even if it is a big ip like star wars that i really am a fan of. If they can't put more or enough into the line and still maje a profit, i will cut them out and move on. Or, find an alternative line (shf and mafex etc) that will do it correctly. Fun is the key and having a good figure the most important to me. Keep on making fire content 🍻 💯!

GI Joe was my number one toy growing up and still is right now with how expensive Toys are becoming Its the only line I'm collecting

I think folk are focusing on 2-3 lines or less or more focused lines like Ramen’s Centurions (80’s Commanders). Not a huge line to collect and a great niche line. Joe is a great line but fabs are having to decide on-ring and 6-inch or o-ring and ReAction or just one line.

The black series line needs a complete haul they feel outdated Hasbro should bring them to classified level or better

It's a "placeholder", yes! Now I'm just speaking for myself here but that's exactly what my Marvel Legends figures have become. They are just there on the shelf until I eventually replace the essential characters with SHF or Mafex. I'm just about done with that style of collecting. Yes, this means a bigger financial commitment per figure, but I am starting to notice that I just appreciate the premium quality figures more. I put my SHF Friendly Neighborhood Tobey in the same pose that I had the Marvel Legends Tobey in and there's just no comparison. That ML Tobey that I was once happy to have no longer has a place in my collection. Again, that's just me. I have grown and changed as a collector over the years, I no longer have that same need for instant gratification, I can totally pass up Marvel Legends on the shelf because I know somebody else makes the same figure only better and if I really want it then I can sell off some of my collection if need be to afford it, otherwise I don't really need that figure. Anyways, that's my two cents.

my top 3 favorite lines are mezco, mafex, & revoltech. collecting makes me happy, just like watching your vids. thanks you for that! 🙂

Happy Friday but honestly WTF is really going on?! 😢Did you see the $10 price increase Hasbro just did with the same damn toy (Hulk) and Wolverine (Tuexedo 2PK) why are we being asked to pay $60 for a 2 pack when the others were only $50 what really is going on? Ain't no way in hell I will wait I'm not beat I'm not broke but I'm also not stupid

That previous hulk set I got for clearance at a Target. I think I paid $22 for it, something like that. Just wait for clearance.

Hasbro Power Rangers Lightning Collection to me felt like a great value. Every figure had multiple hands, an effect part, a unique helmeted and civilian head sculpt and unique weapons. The biggest downfall of the line was the QC issues.

We’ve all been paying double in price with the inflation. The retail price are all flipper prices. Across the board. None of these figures and toys are worth the retail price anymore. The inflation destroyed the market and people are buying less and losing on everything. When I say losing I mean you buy a product and then it gets clearance out. Everything has been getting a clearance price. All toys across the board, from all companies. I never seen it happen before. 2024 doesn’t look good for toy companies unless they get back on track with their pricing. $40-50-60 for ONE figure is insane. It’s all over… 🍻

Yeah this is true. People are now just waiting for those clearance prices so that they're paying what the figures are actually worth. But unfortunately, this practice will not deter these majors companies from continuing the price hikes. They've already gotten their money when they sold the figures to Target and Walmart already. They don't care what Target and Walmart does with them to clearance them out or to ship them off to Marshall's and Ollies.

Great commentary Marc, I was just having a similar Conversation with my stepson about buying premium over standard figures. I think he is starting to finally realize that you get more from a premium figure as opposed to the corporate figure And their minimal approach. I also believe in my older age that buying something premium has better quality overall and is worth the price. I'd rather own one good Mafex Batman, then 3 mcfarlanes sitting in a bin in my garage. I think Collector's finally wisening up and speaking with their wallets has caused big companies like Hasbro to be down fiscally.

I cherry pick everything I buy. I research, wait, and looks for deals. I used to buy whole waves. Too many lines now to do that.

I just collect classified. Had all the vintage stuff as a kid so there's a little nostalgia collecting for me. Was real big on the japanese figma figures. They were always on point.

I'm down to just getting classified now....just put up some floating shelves for my motu stuff...definitely saved a ton of space

Happy Friday!!!! Well, I think they do to some extent? I know this year will be my last year I collect GI JOE Classified as I will have all of the figures I want. I love this line. Super7's Thundercats Ultimates, I will continue with them but if their prices keep increasing, I will be more selective.

Black Series has to be the worst value right now, that team rarely knows what collectors want. Repaints that we dont want, figures we dont want, and poorly executed figures that we do want. I'm very picky when it comes to that line now.

Where’d you get those dope glasses? I need a fun pair. 😂 with the exception of some figures overall I don’t think the value is there. Seeing a lot of mainlines get discounted all too quick it’s almost worth waiting for the prices to drop before rushing to find or pre order

I stopped buying mass market stuff last year and sold off everything I had, for a reason. I have since been only collecting Newage Transformers for my G1 needs, and Fans Hobby for my Super Godmaster force stuff and I've never been happier. I'll dip my toes into Super 7's O-ring GIJOEs when they come out if they good, but otherwise I am sticking to only buying what really brings me joy which are figures from my youth. I also started collecting stickers, enamel pins, and patches from 80s properties and that has been so fun too. I am getting old and am done keeping up with new toy lines etc.

I’ve been mostly collecting neca and neca tmnt for a while and rarely think about the value of the figs cuz they generally seem worth the $35 price. My brother is a marvel legends guy and I’ve been watching him spend more and more for less and less. $25 gets him a figure, 2 hands and MAYBE an alt head. I started collecting Gi Joe Classified and it’s WILD how much more you get with that line than Marvel Legends from the same company.

Value? I thought we were in this because we enjoyed playing with these things lol

@@fobninja85 I can always tell who watches this video and who just comments. This video is about the best values in collecting. Namely GI JOE Classified Series and Mythic Legions. Because what you get for what you pay is incredible. You get so much play value out of these lines as opposed to Black Series and Marvel Legends.

I see your point, but I can't really agree. Whereas prices from the big 3 have risen, so has the price of everything else, you cant fault these companies. And even with the rise in cost, comparatively, they are still less than half the price of the premium products for a stellar product (in most, not all cases). Legends are great bang for the buck, accessories can be limited, but you get some great sculpts, good to great pose-ability, and for those all in you get to build the BaFs. Black Series have made leaps and bounds in sculpt, paint and even articulation, though for me I have fallen back mostly because I have most of the characters I love and my display is full. That said, it sounds like a big part of your issue is something we all face and that is space being at a premium. I HATEEEEEE buying things and putting them away. In fact, I'm almost to the point that if i don't have a place to display it I just wont buy it; and to be honest its liberating and feels great. Spending your hard earned money, and not enjoying what you spend it on seeing it everyday you will burn out easier. Great video though, subscribing for more content.

Personally I feel if you’re buying them as an investment you’re setting yourself up to fail like comics and you’ll just help wreck the industry. Toys are fun. That’s why they should be bought because they are fun. Some figures if you can sell them on and make money on them is a bonus.

If you watch my video starting at the 8:30 mark, you'll see that I'm not talking about the monetary value of buying and reselling action figures are an investment. What I'm talking about is where do you find your value in the figures you buy? For example, would you rather spend $25 for a Marvel Legends figure and get a figure that is limited in its accessories and articulation or spend $100+ on like a SH Figuarts or MAFEX for the same character and get more hands, heads, and accessories. What the whole video and then let me know your thoughts. Thanks.

Well, there is still value in collecting action figures. In fact, I just sold off my Valaverse Pandora Bloody-Variant for $350. The problem is, knowing what's limited and or in demand at any given moment. I am not in the business of buying what's valuable and waiting for it to appreciate and then re-sell. I collect for my own personal gain. Every now and again, I will run low on funds and sometimes have to sell my more valuable figures. Thankfully, I had some foresight into keeping some figures boxed. A lot of times, that doesn't work out. I have a closet full of G.I.Joe Classified that is worth less than the MSRP :(

I AGREE WITH THE GI JOE CLASSIFIED ASSESSMENT. THE ACCESORIES AND QUALITY OF THE PAINT IS NEXT LEVEL. I STAY AWAY AND STICK TO TRANSFORMERS. DONT WANT TO GO DOWN THAT GI JOE RABBIT HOLE.

I’d never think these mass produced things would have any real value and I wouldn’t buy them for that reason.

The only thing I buy is GIJOE. I’m over and done with every other line they are all dead and buried to me.

I'm thinking....not. I've backed off of collecting hugely because of the biden years/issues. Not that I can't continue. But price's, distribution, inflation everywhere else, I'm going huge issues that's gonna make things worse as far as wars and border et cetera Make it definitely less appealing.. I do have a huge collection that i'm starting to sell off... And not thrilled about it. a lot of work.

It’s worth it to you. It pays your bills and allows you to buy ridiculous looking glasses. 😂😂😂

No there is NOT for the most part, just a view items but to be real, 99% has no value at all. It's only wurth something for youself and the value you feel it has or an emotional value. They tricked us into investing in plastic and cardboard..sorry.

I stick with Transformers and G. I. Joe Classified only. But I no longer buy the entire lines of each. I buy the occasional Black Series figure if I like it.
