Even if Metro takes a few minutes more, it is preferred. This is because in Metro one can travel passively (i.e. you don't have to stay mentally active and can relax), while riding a bike or driving a car one has to travel actively (i.e. you have keep your brains on which is tiring by itself).

If you have Metro within 1-2 km from you home or work location, use it. Simply, it is the best and safest means of transportation. Remember, more traffic on the road means, chances of accidents are high and you are also exposed to more pollution and stress. Someone rightly mentioned about getting some exercise while using Metro (walking from/to the Metro station etc) which is a good point because most of young IT folks don't get any physical exercise otherwise.

there should be some sort of express services that skip certain stations which will actually save time for commuters travelling from one end to the other.

with Metro atleast you are gauranteed how much time it will take, with Traffic on road it can vary. Metro can get crowded too. An underpass is better and faster then overhead usually. Underpass is used more !!!

The best thing about metro is that if it takes same predictable amount of time which helps to plan. Unfortunately with roads it can vary so sometimes you reach early or sometimes late. Ex reaching a theater early and waiting or late and missing.

As the additional hassle of getting down in KR Pura and taking a feeder service to Byppanahalli would be eliminated in a couple of month's time, metro services would win hands down compared to a two wheeler commute. The shorter the journey is, the more convenient the own transport going to be. For a longer distance travel within the city, metro would emerge as a most preferred option in years to come.

Time of travel is just 1 factor. Equally (if not more) important factors to consider are: mental stress involved, comfort, safety and hygiene. After all, who wants to arrive at work dusty and sweaty, smelling like diesel, and wanting to punch someone out of frustration from driving on Bangalore’s streets.

if the public transport keeps improving like this and the people actually learn to stop thinking individualistically, then we can reduce traffic by a lot (read faster bus travel times) and have way less pollution and temperature hikes.

Lack of public transportation is one of the worst things about b'luru. I just wish b'luru's public transportation gets better. This will be a relief. Plus the roads here needs to be expanded, the main roads are so narrow here compared to delhi NCR. The girl who drove is defending the travel via road so much and changing her opinion like anything. Just accept it it's a headache to drive here and no comparison b/w travel via metro and road. Metro wins hands down.

Even after six months KR Puram to Byappanhalli is not complete. BMRCL comes up with excuses that no one can think of. There were bureaucrats like Sivasailam who blocked Suburban Rail for decades. BMRCL is still thinking about when to inaugurate the missing link even after the CMRS approvals.

2 hour journey from Arakere to Indiranager. 45 min in metro. 1 hour 15 mins getting to/from metro station. Rs 50 for metro. Rs 300 for auto to/from metro. Metro is awesome, please fix connectivity! :))

Both of them wasted time in between - stopping and talking to the camera. Thoughts during the contest should be kept in mind and recorded/interviewed later - for a better contest/comparison Udbhavi(scooty) stopped and talked to camera. Talking while waiting for the traffic signal is okay. Otherwise, it’s wasting time. Rishika(metro) can talk to camera while waiting for the train at metro. But she also stops and talks to camera outside the metro station before getting inside- there is chance that she could miss a train because of this time wasted. Also! She wastes 2-3 min talking after reaching KR Puram metro and before going to the bus stop and take a bus. She might’ve missed a bus by 2-3 min and that might’ve made her wait another 5 min or 8 min or 10 min. Good video, but it would be better if all the interviewing is done after the contest or at least when she’s inside a bus or metro(no time is wasted in that case) instead of talking to camera for 2 min before entering metro station, before walking to bus stop from the metro and stopping scooty by side of road just to talk to camera for 2-3 min

Metro for Bengaluru people is still a luxury travel.... Unless your start - end points are within 2 kms from the respective metro station, it's going to be expensive and time consuming.... Let's not even get into "walk to the station" debate as our roads are simply not meant for pedestrians. Roads even more dangerous for pedestrians than riding a bike...
