It does work. I have both newer and vintage guitars, and it certainly wakes them up. As an example with a vintage guitar, my 1936 D-18 (Frankie) has a tendency (as most old guitars do) to go to “sleep” if not played for a time. I can pull it out of the case and literally hear it change and wake up during a 15 minutes period. With the Tone Traveller, I can use it for 15-20 minutes on the “36 D118 and there’s a distinct difference. I’m sold on the Tone Traveller.

Thanks for the video. Great information. I was in Nashville over the weekend of the 19th of November. Stopped in to see Mark and Roger at Furch. Played a beautiful Gc CR. I wanted to buy it on the spot but it was not the right time. I may need to sell a couple of my less played guitars to buy it. I play my Gc SR Red Deluxe most of the time but want to add a cedar top to my collection. The warm tone of that guitar was something I don't have with my other spruce tops. Thank you for introducing me to this brand. Totally hooked now. Oh, I did get to get a picture holding the #4 of 40 anniversary edition. What a beautiful guitar. Mark and Roger were great to chat with and I enjoyed my visit very much. If you speak to them, tell them Chris and Charlie (my wife) say hello.

Honnestly, as Jeremy said, it is just a bluetooth speaker. If you already have one, put an edge on it so it can rest on the top of your guitar between strings or put it inside your sound hole (i use a sock wrapped around the strings to hang it there) and play whatever you want to make the wood "work". I also have a little radio that i put next or in the guitar. IMO all this work just as well as the Tonerite or this Tone Traveller. Been doing this for a year every now and then. No need to spend hundreds on a pricy gadget which will spend most of his life in his box or in a closet.

I've seen a video on KZread where someone did a proper studio test on it and recorded the frequency change during it's use and there was a significant change, It's great that you made this video which is extra confirmation. Now whether or not that change is permanent (or at least lasts a while without reusing the Toner) or if the change is noticeable by human ear will probably differ from guitar to guitar and person to person. Still, the Tone Traveler does seem to make a difference. I don't know if it's worth the 260 bucks though, especially considering it's just a glorified Bluetooth speaker than hooks onto your guitar and just speeds up a process that you can do yourself by playing your guitar every day!

There is likely something there if it keeps the top moving. Many (many) years ago, I used to leave my guitar sitting right in front of a stereo speaker with the radio on and go to work for the day. Every day for a few weeks. Did it make a difference? Seemed to a bit - or was it wishful thinking? Suffice it to say I don't do that anymore, so it obviously didn't leave a lasting impression.

I do believe there is a "stiffness" in a brand new guitar. I have noticed this in quality guitars all the way down to entry level. I am sure the vibrations help the wood mellow. I would have tried hanging your guitar so the back and sides would be resonating too. We sold Taylors where I worked and mine sounded very good, but after a few months of playing it every day, it was noticeably warmer than the same model that we had hanging on the wall at the shop. Side note, If there was an apartment under that closet, I'll bet the people downstairs hated your experiment.

Also as a recording engineer Id try different frequencies as well. Id also be interested if having it out of the case entirely makes a difference. The back and sides may be dampened from fully vibrating while in the case IMHO.

This can also be used on about all stringed instruments and has speacial tunings for each. This isn't just a motor that's lightly vibrating the top. This vibrate all the guitar and physically plays the strings you select and in the key or keys you chose. Give it a try. I think you'll like it.

It would be cool to test against several different guitars, with a before and after, but I honestly don't believe this is worth the money. We also have many guitars and sometimes a few don't get played.I would love to try one, and maybe even make a video, and show if it really helps. I will say that when I pick up a guitar that's sat for a while, without being played, it takes a little time for it to open up again. So the science is there.

Interesting. It seems like a slightly different take on things and marketed to the younger Millenial/Zoomer demographic than the Tone Rite which the Boomers/GenXers who are still not sold on it. FWIW I would love to see something like this used on new guitars. I know that I would loved to have something like this when I first acquired a raster robustly built Larrivee that took over a year to open up. I don’t know if I like the noise it makes; the hum of the Tone Rite almost seems calming. That being said, in my 40+ years of playing I have noticed that guitars’ voices change with environment and/or the seasons. This would probably come in handy on a guitar that had not been played for awhile or had been recently shipped to a different location.

It sounds great acoustically, as well as plugged in to an amp or through the board. The only thing I don’t like about it is the fact that it will not improve with playing time😢. It will never be better than it is now. I know I will miss the “opening up” process of a high quality solid wood guitar.

The advantage to the Tone RIght is that it simply plugs in so need to recharge it. It is also simply a vibration rather than generating a sound so it isn't as annoying. I am sure there are benefits to both. I think the price of the Tone Right is high. It is simply a vibrator with a power cord. It should sell for less than half of what it does. I am thinking of a way to build my own.

Reality is, The guitars that benefit the most are NEW guitars. I bought the predecessor to this about 7 years ago that vibrated the strings-can’t remember the name? It worked a little. This Device your showing likely works much better. The reason I know it works better- I have my vintage stereo in a huge maple wall unit against one wall in my studio. I have 2 strap hangers above each speaker. I can hang a guitar in front of the speaker with the sound hole facing speaker about 6” away ! I just crank up the stereo and the guitar tops do their thing. It works. It does come in handy when you pull out a Guitar that’s been sitting for a year or so. But honestly I seldom use it. Most of my guitars are tone Beasts. The stereo speaker trick has been used for years- nothing new. KEEP IN MIND-after your done with the enhancement-your Gonna need to put NEW STRINGS on! The strings get worn out by constant vibration! I slide a folded felt rag between the strings and the fingerboard to prevent this from happening - and just let the top vibrate

I wouldn't spend my hard earned money on a gadget like that. It might 'work' in the sense that its hum and vibration could affect the response of tone woods for a short period of time but with changes in humidity and the condition of strings after they have been played for a while it seems to me that a permanent change wouldn't stick. But, I'll concede I might be wrong. There are so many variables and nuances in well made guitars, in tunings and in each individual's playing style, that the human ear cannot sort them out in a piece of music while it is being played to the extent that a listener would say 'gee whiz, that note wasn't bright enough' or make other judgments that would compare with what you'd see in a computer's microscopic analysis of sound. The same piece of music, played by someone else might sound quite different to the same human's ear.

Jeremy the battery wont last 8 days. I know you weren't there to see or hear it yourself. Also, taking the guitar out of the case and hanging from the neck allows all the wood and glue to vibrate. I leave my speaker and tablet plugged in all the time. This will deaden your strings. I check mine regular because when the strings stretch out of tune they tend to vibrate against the fret conceivably causing fret wear in my mind anyway. Probably not but it changes how it works. Notice your guitar needs to be in tune for it to work properly. I leave only my 3 lower wound strings on to improve bass. Just my choice. Notice how the strings are actually vibrating while it on. If you put your guitar handing in an inclosed area like say a small closet or in my case a gun safe with other guitars it causes them to vibrate slightly as well.

Sometimes you wanna get hard to sound the way it originally sounded and not be changing so much.. Yeah every acoustic guitar I bought in the 70s still sounds exactly the same.. And I have recorded proof of that. What people don't realize if something changes something it doesn't necessarily make it better. There's just no way it can make it necessarily better. It can also have adverse tone effects. It might give a boomie guitar more boominess or a thin guitar a different mid-range.. But this is stuff people generally don't think about because everybody's looking for some kind of pie on the sky fix for a guitar they don't like.. I don't want to guitar that so susceptible to change. The reason I bought it is because it sounded the way it does I don't buy it for how it's going to sound 40 years from now.. People can be so damn silly

George, I noticed a difference (more open, fuller, better bass) in my guitars, more so with Engelmann Spruce, Adirondack Spruce tops. It's really disappointing that there are no truly scientific tests of the device. I'd be interested in a simple test on a new(ish) guitar with a dead spot (or spots). I think it would be an easy test to conduct by targeting a dead spot (with the single-note feature) and any improvement would be obvious and undeniable. Until I see a valid test, I'm not splashing $300 on a hope... Edit: I was inspired to try a Heath Robinson set-up to try out the concept for myself as I couldn't find a single test online whereby a dead-spot was targetted. I have a not-very-well played-in dreadnaught, hand-made, expensive but with particular dead-spots on the bass strings from the 7th fret up. I'm sure they'd improve with more playing, but I'm looking for a short-cut. I downloaded a frequency generator app, paired that via bluetooth to my mini amp, placed the amp close to the bridge, and dialed in a frequency which caused the 6th string to vibrate with a capo placed at the 8th fret where the note is particularly dead (thin, no bass, no sustain, no resonance). I left it on as loud as I could for 5 hours and it instantly cured the problem. The note I targetted is now deep, rich, sustains forever, with lots of overtones. The manufacturer is really missing a trick by not doing this experiment...

You don't need a scientific test your ears are the test.. Just look at all these videos and it'll help you decide. It's all ridiculous. I have guitars that I want to sound the same not to change. And this could also make your guitar sound worse.. They don't tell you that.. But I'm pretty sure it doesn't do anything. If it does it's not gonna be enough to change the really great guitars that I already have.. I don't want them to sound any different.. And just cause a guitar is old does not mean it's great.. It takes roughly 7 years for a new guitar to achieve it's basic sound, this is a function of the aging of the wood in it's constructed configuration as distinct from the lumber itself. After that it will mellow some as the years go by, but after 7 years it's basic tone is set. It really doesn't have as much to do with being played. Frankly, I thought everyone knew this.
