I have lived here for 40+ years. The freeze is THE REALER REAL DEAL. Seattle is very wary of Outsiders and completely intolerant of EVERYONE who doesn’t not believe or think in the manner of which this city approves. People are fake nice here. They are polite, and will tell you that they suuuuper want to be your friend, but … they do not. Seattle is CLIQUE-Y. You have to know people to get IN here. You have to KNOW SEVEN PEOPLE to even belong to the Tennis Club here, so … what’s a damn Newbie to do?

Well done, I love all the different viewpoints. I didn't realize the Scandinavian culture had an impact here in Seattle.

Born and raised here. It didn’t used to be as freezey about 15 years ago. But the pressure to work hard and tech environment has made it worse. Everyone is just tired and the weather can definitely make people want to stay in. Personally, I think people from here aren’t “angry” like the girl said. We are just quiet and would oftentimes like to stay home because it takes extra energy to go out with traffic and parking and the cold. LOL. So, in a nutshell, and being part Scandinavian too, it’s a combination of independence, reservedness (not really aloofness), and the new phenomenon of being low energy due to work (especially non social tech work) and traffic. But once you get connected to your own group of friends, you will feel better. Tip: If you are a newcomer, you might have to try a bit harder or organize the party. You will find that underneath it all, people are kind and friendly. It’s just not always apparent and easy to access. I think it can be hard on newcomers. Different parts of the state are easier. Btw: I’ve never heard it called “The Big Dark”. But the indoor months are why we produced so much good music in the 90s. The music guy was correct. But once you step out of the music community, it’ll be hard to find the time to connect with those friends. I think it’s just a matter of making the effort and having social hobbies that are sustainable. And smile even if people might not return it. Because they do sometimes!😊

Hi Great video with lots of different interviews and viewpoints. Summer and early Fall are definitely my favorite time of the year and definitely makeup for those dark months of winter. One area that I’d add to the list is geography. The fact that the region is surrounded by water and mountains makes it challenging to get around quickly. But that is also the beauty of the region as well.
