Exactly! I'm 38 and grew up with the Griffeys and all the other 90s retros they've been doing like the Penny 3s, CB 94s, and Raids. I couldn't afford them back then, but because of that they ended up with the same sort of mystique as the Lamborghini poster on my bedroom wall. Unobtainable, but just glorious. Then there was actually watching these athletes play in these shoes live on TV. That took the shoes to another level. In 2021, they still look and feel so right! I'm not about hype, just enjoying great shoes. These hit every mark. I hope Nike keeps these 90s legends dropping. I'm going after every one I can get!

I’m 19 and wanted these so badly 🥲 love the story behind them and I had all 3 of the og releases in 2016. Obviously took an l tho because it’s 2021 and everyone and their ancestors wanna be resellers 😅

@@ightb5920 Yeah, the resellers were out in force. It really angers me when I hear that resellers got their pairs when someone like you, who clearly wanted them for the toe and their legacy, couldn't get them.

well said broski, im 35 n grew up idolizing the kid, had these as a lid in junior high, 97-98, also swung n missed on these, excuse the pun lol, but i did hit the what the 5's in a size 4.5Y on the re stock, n hit the cool gray 3's on the early drop last week, came in today 👍🏽 man o man i love me sum sneakah's lol

Ken Griffey Jr. was "that dude" for sure.

Was never a baseball fan but I always appreciated how good this shoe looked.

This shoe, and the Jordan 13's in "He Got Game" color scheme have always been my favorite 2 pairs of shoes all time.

The bots were out. They literally sold out in 2-3 minutes on every website. I copped the Carmines easier than these

Do buy resell, for any reason. That's the only way we get rid of them, as a community. But That's like trying to get everyone to not buy gas for one day to say fuck you to the oil companies, it's impossible, most people just don't care enough.

This is one of the sexiest shoes of the 90s hands down. Definitely hits all the nostalgia feels with this one. I’m glad I was able to cop at my local Footlocker

Keep it coming with THE BEST SNEAKER SHOW ON KZread! For me these were a must have. They're exactly like you said...like a great song, they take you right back to another time. I was first in line at my local spot to make sure I got my pair, and opening that box, man I thought I heard a choir singing! Seeing those Griffeys in that box, I felt like I was 13 years old again. I can't wait for the weather to clear up to break these out!

Yup mine still looks dead stock I have all previous releases of the griffey Max hwin and the 2009 is by far the best quality and closest to the original I hate it the 2016 even though I have them and I hate these ones even though I have them also I do not like the leather Nike check on it it should state swayed like the original or new buck or whatever the material is that really messed issue up for me but since I am a griffey Max one fan it is my favourite show of all time I just don't care for the leather Nike check

As an 80s baby, 90s Seattle kid.... Griffey was our Jordan... I wanted his glove, his cleats/kicks more than any J growing up. I got the black Freshwaters in 2017 randomly off amazon...1 size 12 there... 200. And have been dyin for these ones. I got a W from snkrs and hit the mall, and the homegirl set me up with another pair (Champs in Seattle got 8 total pairs btw) I wished I had another pair of the.black cause I beat em. So I made sure to double up. Easily my favorite silhouette of all time.

Always wanted a pair when I was younger. Finally got a pair and love them. For me it’s probably one of my favorite shoes. Great video!

I agree with buckets 10 out of 10! I coped a pair of off finish line app. Had to hang on for about an hour but nevertheless I got my pair at retail.

Not really feeling those shoes.. But Griffey definitely was the man.. Had the sweetest home run swing that I can remember.. It was so natural.. As soon as he hit the ball he just immediately drop the bat and started walking.. He new it was already unrecoverable..

I loved Griff as a kid, I even remember his name/# being one of the first shirseys I made. That stuff wasn't available when I was a kid, I should have started a business doing it really, but I digress. Griff was my guy as a kid from Vancouver as we didn't have a baseball team and I wasn't cheering for Toronto anything. I passed on these, but def love the cw with the extra teal. The red pair was dope too.

We had snow in San Antonio, Tx which shut things down on Monday so Tuesday when the mall opened I walked into jd sports and copped my pair. Seems like nowadays it’s best just to hit the stores if you really want a pair of anything.

I remember when I was a young buck, I had these, and I had the Ken Griffey Tee on with the 24 on the back, with some girbaud jeans on. I went to the movies to watch Independence Day. I'd put these in my top 10. But they are bulky by today's style, and the midsole paint usually peels easily on the past releases. Hopefully they fixed that.
