    Great review for this truck and pointing out things of importance for me. I absolutely love the fact that it is a manual, it has more ummff than the previous generation which was needed, despite losing the V6, but so much more better. I am not looking to hauling any additional people around, unless they are kids for short distances and definitely not long road trips and if and when do go offloading, it won't be doing any serious rock crawling. More or less, to the lake, but that's just my take. I like the idea of basic with a few amenities. Most of us will not be doing offloading daily, but when we would need to do some, its better to have it and not need, then to need it and not have it. Definitely a buy in my book mostly because of perceived reliability and the manual shift. 😊

    @@TRDJonlol you’re the greatest salesman that Toyota has. I’ve always wondered, is there some sort of compensation from Toyota for talking highly of their new vehicles (specifically the new Tacoma)? I’m sure even if there is it would be brushed off and not wanting to divulge that kind of information but I’m certainly curious. With that said however, I love your videos and the passion you have for Toyota and more specifically the Tacoma in general. I’m new to Toyota as of September of last year and I gotta say, I absolutely love my 3rd gen. 2020 limited 4x4 cement gray, looks so damn good and drives so solid.

    Great Driving Buddy!!! you should sit a bit closer to the steering (the back of the seat up a bit more) and keep both hands on the steering at all times (unless shifting of course ;) ) You'll be connected to the truck better and have better visibility, takes time and practice! but you'll feel in more control! If you can give me some advice on the new truck I would love to hear from you. I am very nervous to buy somthing this expensive, however I do trust Toyota. The 6spd manual in Canada comes base no sway bar disconnect , no upgraded audio or cameras , no pre wired aux switches , comes with 8” audio no 14” audio available . The Canadian version doesn’t give much of a reason to upgrade from a 3rd Gen accept that is a double cab and not an access cab .

    Just a shame the manual powertrain is derated. Did Toyota say why exactly? I presume it has something to do with the clutch’s holding ability or maybe flywheel RPM limitations or something.

  • @davep4610

    @davep4610

    5 ай бұрын

    I heard the chief engineer say it is because with the manual they gave a slightly lower redline RPM on the engine. I cannot imaging noticing 8 hp and 7 lb-ft difference in normal driving. On the other hand the SR trim with automatic has much lower power.

  • @ALMX5DP

    @ALMX5DP

    5 ай бұрын

    @@davep4610 remember though that the regular automatic hits that torque 317 figure at 1700rpm. For the manual they delay that torque so not only makes 7lb-ft less but doesn’t produce it till 2800rpm. I’d think that would be felt if or when you needed to dig into the throttle.

    My rule of thumb… for daily use it’s an automatic all day long. For a weekend/fun secondary car, it’s manual all day long. Manual daily drivers are cool and all but the convenience of an auto on a daily basis is a big deal. I owned, and still do, a 2016 mustang gt with a manual and daily drove it for 6 years. After year 4/5 I was ready to get an auto. In comes my Tacoma limited edition 4x4 automatic. My mustang is my fun car and I love rowing through the gears but I absolutely love how easy my Tacoma is on a daily basis.

    This guy is creaming in his pants at the sight of the 4th gen Tacoma. It’s nice and all but not that nice. The exterior I’m not a fan of (will probably grow on me over time a little bit) and the interior looks like they increased the amount of cheap plastic over the 3rd gen. The 3rd gen has a very plastic interior but it’s actually a quality and solid plastic that feels and looks like it’ll last forever without cracking or fading or anything. 4th gen interior just screams CHEAP plastic. I’m sure it’s a lot nicer in person versus looking at it on a KZread video on my iPhone so I won’t completely condemn it right now. Mynplan is the keep my 2020 for a long time so it really doesn’t make a difference to me wether or not it pans out to be a solid truck; however, my guess is that if you fast forwarded 25 years the 3rd gen will be the winner in terms of reliability and overall build quality.
