Honestly, I’m as shocked as you are, Christian! 🤯 Luckily it’s what I consider to be a ‘low impact’ issue… So what I’m more concerned about is how (and if) Casio will address this 🤔

Casio really isn't what it used to be. Some of my newer Casios have such low quality quartz crystals that they run less accurate than my mechanical watches. I had a 5600 die on me because water broke in after some light ice bathing (didn't even dive or swim). And don't get me started on the horrible displays.

Interesting! That is probably why Casio has removed the purchase of the ws-1700 line from their website. This also explains why the independent scalpers have toned it down and the online merchants are offering it at or around MSRP instead of the double price tag they all seemed to have had a month ago.

I imagine so! We’re all holding our breath waiting to see how Casio handles it… will they do a mass recall? Or a re-release? Only time will tell! I’m relieved that the prices are coming down - an opportunity for those of us who don’t mind about the Dual Time issue to snap one up! 😉

Ive got confused a few times by non24h because i work in 3 shifts and i sleep at weird hours. So i only use 24h mode on all my watches (Samsung, Garmin, G-Shock GMW5000).

@@goatreviews don't take me too seriously 😂 it's the usual routine about (generally) USA "vs" rest of the world standards (metric, celsius, 24h time etc.). On a serious note I realize it's a misstep to have forgotten about the PM. The "Ripley/Aliens" Casio lacks the 24h options and it bothers me a lot. I like to see the standard 13/23 range

Apparently, it's intentional - Casio wants us to wake up the next day today and buy more Casio's 😊

LOL, this isn’t the first time I’ve seen this comment 😁 I do plan on giving 24H a try at some point in the future. By the way, lots of people use 12H time! Check the community poll on my profile, it’s got about 40% of people voting for 12H.

I'll still get one and swap the module with my ae1200.

While I don’t consider Dual-Time as its “primary” functionality - I see your point. You’re right. It does bring the functionality of the other functions in to question too, doesn’t it! Perhaps Casio spent a little TOO much time on those other functions like the Moon Phases, which might explain how they overlooked something so common and established as the Dual Time 🤷🏻‍♂️ Thanks for weighing in, Fratellini! 🙏

Unfortunately, the problem still persists in 24 hour mode. Good thinking though, Sean! 🙏 I covered this in my full review for the WS-1700H 👌

The GWGB1000 witch came out last year had a problem with the automatic atomic timer keeping mode not working but after a software update from the Casio app it mine is working ok and everything else is after the few months I have owned it but the ws1700h is not Bluetooth so can’t be fixed the same way does the watch change over if you change to 24h format it looks like Casio quality control is lagging I would if the will get it sorted soon

Wow! See, that’s a great move by Casio to have way to patch-out issues like this with the app. You also make a good point, that this one isn’t Bluetooth capable… 💯 Great idea, but unfortunately the 24h format doesn’t address the issue. Indeed. It’s the first time I’ve seen something like this from Casio! I wonder what they’ll do to address it… 🤔

Got mine today and both doing the same thing. Problem is Casio customer service said they can’t send me a replacement at the time.

I do actually, I’m from Austria but live in the US. I travel a lot so it’s convenient for me to keep track. It’s rare that Casio makes mistakes so I’m not that upset. I’m sure the will make it right

Hi @@kokopeds8588, I’ve just checked again to verify for you. In 24 hour mode, it gets rid of the “AM” symbol entirely, but is still restricted up to 11:59 before it cycles back down to 0:00 Hope this helps! 🙏

Who is really using 12h mode??? Hardly nobody. Could be taken away from watches without anyone missing it.

Hi Mats! Thanks for weighing in. 🙏 Unfortunately the ‘Dual Time’ issue with this watch does not get fixed by changing to 24h mode. I should have made this clear - my apologies. In Australia, 12h mode is very common and I would consider it quite unusual to see 24h mode. I’d love to hear what other countries usually use - so I might put out a Community Poll and people can vote! 🗳️ Thanks for the idea 👌

LOVE mine! But the Dual Time definitely does not work! Sent mine back but they couldn't fix it. They were just going to issue a refund, but I requested it back. Good thing too! Wonder if they'll actually reissue it?

I love my WS-1700H too, Conan! 😍👌 Even with this fault, it's still a fantastic watch. Yeah, I'd rather have it back than accept a refund too. We can only wait and see how Casio will handle this - as it's relatively unprecedented! I hear the last time they had an issue like this, they were able to push a software update using the mobile phone app, but this model doesn't have Bluetooth 🤔

@@goatreviews Yeah- $35 back and probably never being able to get it again? I was glad to get it back. Maybe this'll just be a one off run for this line? Maybe it'll spike to the thousands of $ resale like the new Casiotron 🤣 It's definitely surprising coming from Casio either way. But I'm happy to have it in the collection.

Great question! 👌 Dual Time lets you keep track of the current time in another time zone in addition your current location time.

Get a g-7900....better tide and moon graph and definitely tougher

Para sua conveniência, aqui estão as legendas traduzidas: O Casio WS-1700H acabou de ser lançado em 2024, mas está com defeito? Porque as pessoas estão ficando bravas! Um cara comentou no meu vídeo de unboxing, dizendo que mandou as costas para a Casio. E ainda recebeu uma avaliação de uma estrela na Amazon, por causa desse problema! Aparentemente é o recurso Dual-Time que está com defeito. E assim como este outro Casio, se o editarmos agora às 10h55, devemos vê-lo saltar para 'PM' quando ultrapassarmos 12. @@goatreviews Responding to your question, it was in 2003 Shanghai. I must emphasize that Casio Japon has not responded to my questions, it seems that they do not want to respond. If I'm correct with the information from years ago, I started to investigate this, the only Casio factory left in Japan is in Yamagata and it is for the high-end models. Since the 80s it was already manufacturing in other countries, Korea for example, but these watches did have the quality of CASIO Japan, and also Thailand. The problem is not that it is made in China, but that the quality standard has lowered, I have many Casios and for example alarm clocks, modern models Made in China are a disaster, buttons that do not work, delay or advance of several minutes error per day something NEVER SEEN in a CASIO. It is a disgrace that they have allowed this for the Japanese quality standard and even more so for the buyers. The other big problem is that when manufacturing in China, no matter how many contracts there are, designs are stolen and fakes begin to appear, something that we are used to seeing. Casio has lost a lot over this issue. I also had information that they had lost a lot of production in Japan with the Tsunami of 2011, which is why they moved a lot to China. Let's not be fooled, the quality of the Chinese Casio is acceptable but it does not even come close to the quality and effort of a Casio made in Japan. I must say, I’ve not experienced a large amount of Casio’s that I can definitively say were manufactured ‘before 2003’ But I would love to see and compare the differences side by side with my own eyes!
