Love my 08 MkV!

My MkV is a DD and weekend warrior. I have a fully upgraded suspension including YCW Coilovers w/ camber plates f/r Whiteline sway bars, links and anti lift, rear adj. camber arms, full ECS Urethane Bushing kit , f/r ECS frame collars , S3 front/ rear spindles and LCAs, ALCON 355 front / R32 rear brakes, and an ECS Stud conversion Kit. My CTS K04ed motor has HPA supplied internals and an ECS catch can with 034 Street density motor mounts. The tune is Unitronic STAGE 2+ with a stage 2 LSDed DSG tune. VOLK RACING 18s on Firestone Indys . CF hood, rear hatch and a Braille 2015 Battery. External oil cooler and full SHIFT GAUGES. I have found this car to be more than capable of handling what I ask it to with ZERO issues. My niece is learning to track it and it will be going to her on her 18th B’day. The car is cheap to obtain, simple to work on and easy to find quality performance parts for. Even claiming all the upgrades, the insurance is still very reasonable. Besides being a timeless body style it’s put together like a Tiger tank.

This was what i needed to see to finish my k03+ 08 mk5 4 door sleeper. It was the best 3500 bucks ive spent in my life, i don't miss having a clutch

I've done a few track events with my mk5 GTI and love it. Good balance of power and handling

I just picked up a MK5 GTI that was destined for scrap, but it’s going to be rebuilt - not running yet but enjoyable to work on so far

per class rules, our min weight is 3050lbs , we have it dialed in to come in after a race with driver ~3060lbs. close but thats winning. Dyno numbers.... not shared ;)

@@helmutderra4718 We will not, RA is about 22-23hrs of tow time to get there. We have nearly finished the 2012 Golf R so that is the focus this year, to develop that car. there is rumors that SCCA will be back at Indy in 2026 so that is our target for a the next runoffs we attend. We did Indy in 2021 and just love it there. finished 15th in this the MK5 so really looking forward to going back there.

How much oil does it burn?

Sweet build, would be a little monster with a bigger turbo. 💪

I have an ‘06 GTI, stage 2 but 150k miles on it now. I’d be a little weary of taking it the track and pushing it. Though for the most part it hasn’t actually given me an reason to doubt it other than the mileage. I would love to track mine at some point.

I wouldn't worry about the miles. The MK5 we race has 150k on the car and average of 125K on the engines. The Golf R we just finished (yes its finished and raced once already) has 125k on it.

I’m a little surprised he’s running 3” catless dp and 3” exhaust. I run a 3” catless dp and when I went straight pipe behind I lost a lot of power and boost. Went back with a resonator and gained it back. Car runs great with stage 2 setup and tuning

Interesting to see this. I recently went straight pipe and initially it felt great, but I slowly realized I was starting to feel like I lost some low end. I'm definitely going to switch back to resonated.

@@eoll6322 mine was instant. It sounded great but ran weak. I cut the oem mufflers out and replaced them with pipe and when I went back I added a 2.5” in and outlet magnaflow and it sounds great and I got my power and boost back. Will peak at 23psi and hold 15 till almost 7k rpm’s. The exhaust is pretty quiet until you get into it then it roars. Good luck 👍🏻

Unfortunately here in Canada most of the MK5's are rotten and need many body repairs.
