I just got SOOoOoOoOOoo lucky...was able to get one of these...with fly more bundle...at a local pawn shop for the insane price of $50! Definitely going to keep me entertained for a good while

Amazing drone. We used it for research. Looks more aesthetic than it's later versions, which started having bulging protrusions everywhere to accommodate the extra sensors

I can't believe you flew in that much precipitation. Quad looked like it just came out of the bath. I don't know if I'd chance it. I've flown my Mavic Pro for years and love every minute airborne. Still fly as often as I can, several day a week. Love the videos and pics it takes. Nice photo of your mountain!

The photos look super rad. Fog is an issue I often have when shooting the mountains near me. It's about an hour drive to get to some of the locations. Down below everything looks great and as soon as I get to the higher elevation it's fog city.

Mine still flies great, after all these years it still outperforms more modern DJI drones.

Just had mine serviced at EE Hobbies, Vic, Australia. 2 new sets of rotors, silver tipped low noise. It works well with iPad mini and polarized sunnies. Mostly fly over water. Great vid!

Hello James! Mavic Pro1 Pilot in Nigeria here. I have had mine since 2016. Still flies. Still the OG Battery - the one I bought as a spare of Amazon swelled up and I burst it in a bucket of water as an "experiment" (Local Fire Service still hates me!😂) Well, Drone Camera Gimbal got bad some time back - flex cable issues: cable actually caught fire at one point. So no gimbal for me. Replacement of the flex cable was too expensive for me, and too much stress. So I glued the Camera in place pointing forward. Oh, it shakes! It jiggles! Almost unusable footage.. Unless in Tripod mode.. But reasonable pictures can be gotten.. So recently (Just 2 weeks ago) I JB-welded a GoPro mount - onto the Battery (I did some research, and mounting on the main body kills GPS reception) And put a GoPro 8 I had in thr house on it. I have been getting good, stabilised video! And using the OG Cam as an "FPV" kinda - to know which tree I'm hitting! 😅 I also tested with my Insta360 X2 on the Drone, and got lovely footage too. I plan to get a GoPro 11 or 12 soon. So, to your question - no, I do not think this drone is outdated.

How high did it go? Did you have a maximum altitude set on it? Some people overlook that. Do you know how to adjust the camera settings? Mine is just as old but seems to work better than yours. Great drone for 2023, although some newer drones definitely do have improved camera tech now.

I have the Platinum version. The difference, besides the body color, is a different ESC (supposedly) and "quiet" props. And yes, the Platinum is audibly quiter than the ordinary Pro. As for the AF... I noticed the same problems with the AF maybe 2 years ago (the Mavic was then into its 3rd or 4th year with me already). The problem was non-existent when it was new. I noticed it wouldn't focus although it would emit the AF-lock beep. I also noticed that the problem occurred only on cold days and when flying in misty/foggy conditions. I always had to land, restart the drone and it would usually help. When brought into a warm interior, the problem wouldn't occur. I also had the entire camera unit replaced a year ago. During one flight, the camera started to go crazy, and what I saw on the screen of my tablet looked like the drone was attacked by a bird and falling from the sky. It did this for the first time in 2022 in Croatia, and once in 2023 but that time I was in VLOS and saw that there was nothing wrong with the drone. I landed and it never recovered from the camera malfunction (it moved all around like crazy during the initiation phase as if it was trying to calibrate the gimbal). I read that the problem is the delicate hair-thin wiring that tends to get fatigued after a few years (the ribbon wiring that runs on the gimbal). I gets damaged with time and needs replacement (I got a good offer on the entire gimbal, so I just replaced the whole thing). After that, the problems with the AF disappeared too :)

Had my mavic pro out last weekend, flys like new, works just as good if not better than newer dji drones

A couple of friends and I stood down at the golf course and flew all the way to the top of the conejo grade into newbury with a P3Se, a Mini 2, and an Air 2S. It was a good time. We got some awesome shots not dissimilar to your own. Lately though we just fly FPV.

Mavic 1 is a great tool. But the default it doesn't like low light. On sunny day it is still a good drone

Still have mine. Had to buy replacement batts from dji after the old bstts discharged too much and refused to charge. Plus side, the batts are still available, and they cost me $99 each at the time which was the same price or cheaper than 3rd party ones.

My Mavic 1 with v1 goggles is freaking amazing. Controlling the gimbal with my head movements lets me get amazing shots. I toss on my prop cages and I can fly through dense forests. And I’m not worried about it because I can replace it for cheap. Screw upgrades.

It’s great drones bought second hand $200 I use mine as practice beginner drone it works well, still relatively new and battery has 30 cycles. I hope to upgrade to Dji M4pro

I still fly mine, it’s still on the original fly more combo kit.

I still fly the MP1... and love it but I would like to upscale to either an Air 2S or an Old Air 2... brilliant picture on both.

I'm aiming to buy a Mavic Pro 1 with the more to fly kit at second hand. I live in Brazil and drones are too expensive here. Should I buy it to make videos of buildings and marriages, or am I doing a bad deal? Im aiming to sell footage in 4k.

Honestly depends on the price, and the health of the batteries. If you can find new batteries for the mavic 1 then it's a great drone for what you need it for. The 4k still looks great and you'll have no problem selling that footage!

Try a (Dji mini se) insted. It is the best drone for its price👍🏻🫡

Honestly footage is comparable to my mini 2 and dji fpv idk about battery life or range but if you hack it you can get more range and or altitude.

New DJI app won't allow me to fly. Won't even show up as an option on drone selection. How'd you manage?

What phone are you using? Was it compatible before? I've had this issue when using an Android phone and DJI asked me to download the app directly from their website, and that fixed the issue.

@@JamesDel Yes, that is the step I took. I wasn't completly clear I didn't mention the issue is Mavic Pro is not showing up as a drone selection only the newer drones.

@@JamesDel It isn't better in every way. The original MP flies better in wind and weather. Can this new mini fly as high? Not sure, though I might get one and try it too, probably improved camera tech.

Height is only limited by software (and battery) . Any of these drones CAN fly infinitely high (within battery constraints) but it's illegal and DJI is required to limit the height. But since that's AGL height, there is a way to change it in the settings for the instances where you're flying over rising terrain, so you can still maintain 400' AGL. @@briancastle4941

In brazil we have a problem with products with dolar price, so the pro 1 still amazing (for me at least)

what about signal dropout?? with the dji app or did you use a different app to fly, i love my pro 1 but i get signal drop on the dji app ,how about you do u get the loss of signal too

You can still buy Batteries Brand New for the Mavic , it may not be an Original made by DJI but they work fine , I bought two about three years ago and I damaged one in a Crash a couple weeks ago but they work fine and last long , just don't treat Batteries with disrespect and that goes for Any Battery ! These Batteries will last up to 3years or more . With Care !!!! The ones I have , were bought in 2019 and I only lost one a couple weeks ago because of a Crash which Punchered it .

It's a discontinued product with no more firmware updates - I would argue that makes it outdated. Agreed though it's functional as long as your batteries are good! Enjoy 🙏🏼

@@JamesDel lol, it don't need no firmware corruption and batteries are easy to rebuild! Newer would need a run time of min 1hr before I'd even think to replace it, it's great fun and takes great video etc, good enough for home use as intended aye!👍
