The Scooba had issues with the power and clean buttons so they got a bad rep and were not big sellers. I love mine and it does leave the floor damp just like yours. I bought a spare for when the first dies. The first one I bought had the button issue but it was a kinda simple fix where I peeled apart the part where the buttons are sandwiched then cleaned the contacts with alcohol and worked fine after. Roomba needs to redesign these and give them another run imo. Scoobas clean so much better than the Bravia.

Interesting I never had this issue with the buttons but I have one model that when you fill the tank you can't open it when they changed to the plastic latch.

This seems to be a better robot mop than the newer models in terms of how it cleans. It doesn't use pads. I think irobot went with pad because they can sell the pads and make more money.

Hi tech. You don't need to spray on pre spots,. It runs for about 45 mins on a full tank.. it sprays down water then scrubs floor. It leaves some water down to soften/breaks stain. Then cleans it after. When water tank is empty. (After 45 mins). It then goes into dry mode. Sucking up water left on the floor. Use irobot scooba cleaning solution. For better cleaning.

Exactly. This is how my floors look before the drying mode. I have four Scoobas in three different models and I kept wondering if somehow I was missing something that they stopped this line and went to the Brava. Glad to see I made the right call.

My Scooba is still sitting in my closet, I’m hoping it will come back to life. First it swept up the dry stuff, next it washed and scrubbed the floor then it dried the floor. They definitely need to bring it back.

This scooba was the best one. Its old but it has the best cleaning skills. Unluckly it is not being produced anymore. With a laser sensor, a better navigation and dry docking station ist would be awesome.

I miss my Scooba 5800. It was the best mopping robot I have owned and I'm sad that Irobot stopped making those and went to the current ones with pads.(I own a Braava240 and its not as good) The Scooba series worked a lot better and didn't need any pads. Just empty the waste-bin and let it dry. It worked as it should in your video. Its a random navigating robot so its just bounces around until the programming thinks its finished. There is a special Scooba cleaning solution you are supposed to buy and use in the water tank. I did use some drops of ordinary cleaning solution in the water. (do not use any with chlorine in it) The downside to my 5800 was that it killed a battery every year. Yep even when on charger all the time the batteries did not last more than 1 year.

Mine lays down water/ solution through entire room, then sucks up whole room. I would add, textured floor is a higher challenge than a flat/ non porous surface. On a smooth floor, the water gets 95% sucked up. The waste tank water that comes out of it is going to be black, which tells you it works. These are now pretty expensive when you can find them; when they work, they work great. Batteries for these still cheap and easy to get on EBay.

Yes the water you dump out of the waste bin will be revolting and black. You will horrified that so much came up off your floor even if you clean your floor with traditional methods first. Nothing else I ever used does as well as my Scooba.

Use distilled water or it will clog faster. Use vinegar to clean the squeegee. Also what it does is goes on a sweep and soak mode. Basically sweeps and sprays the floor. Then it goes back and scrubs and sucks the water. When it's done it will be almost totally dry. They discontinued both because it cannot do hardwood and laminate without destroying the floors. I would like to see a test where you let it go until it says it's done.

I saw a 5800 for sale in a buy sell trade facebook for $25 still working so I had to pull the trigger. So yes my floor is being cleaned now and the battery which appears to be original 2006 is still working and gaining more and more run time used to only get 20 mins now im getting over 40 min.

The scoba was the best mop I ever owned and yes it will leave some water but there is a rubber tube that tends to get clogged and leaves excess water I wish I still had mine

  • @martinfiset
    @martinfiset3 жыл бұрын

It's seems to work just like mine, it does leave more water on my kitchen floor which is almost like yours, I guess the fact that it's not a flat surface make the suction of the squeegee less effective. Like someone commented, the Scooba as a sort of "dry" mode, when the clean tank is empty it will continue tu suck up the water for maybe 10 minutes and not put anymore on floor, and that does help a little. What I do when I clean a small space is instead of stopping it manually, I just put half the water in, so that I do get that dry mode at the end. But your scooba looks pretty good to me. Mine is over 10 years old and I still love it. Changed almost every thing on it, battery severals times, tank, squeegee, wheels. Nice video 👍

I had to drive an hour to to find a new one someone was selling. I have spent so much money on newer mopping robots and they are all just robotic swiffers. I know because I do the white paper towel test after each one. Only the scooba passes.

You fitted the wrong tank, the gray one is the original, this one is just from 5800, but it should work too. I'm glad you like it, because theese are hard workers! But always you need to rinse every part under water after cleaning, and if you don't do it, it can clog after some time and then it will not be working right. So rinse every part!

The movements that the scooba was doing during the fast forward looked like it was dancing . Would have went well with some music haha If possible I would love to see a top 10 robot mopping challenge . But to me it looked like the Scooba did a very good job. I wouldn't have any complaints

You should find a Scooba 230! I just bought one on ebay. Ive been looking for one for a few months that works and isn't outrageously expensive. It's has the same functionality as these types of scoobas but its only about 3 inches tall and 6 inches wide. I think if it was compared to a brava it would be the braava 240 equivalent. But it does have the clean and dirty water tanks as well. Yesterday there was 2 on ebay one for almost $500 but the other is picked up for $170 and from my understanding they're on the rare side and there aren't many videos about it on KZread either. But you should keep your eye out for a cheap one and get it for the channel if and when you find a good deal on one. I only see that in the recent past only 5 have sold on ebay in the last 4 months ranging from $25 to $400 excluding shipping. But would definitely be interested in seeing your style of review on one. P.S. consider a mega stress test for the T8+ would love to see how it handles

I believe other than the smaller tank and size it would be very similar to this model, but it would probably clean a bit worse because of the brush design

Running it 30 minutes on that small space have wet all the stains well and should then clean it. If you run a mopping robot for 30 minutes on that area for that long, I am sure it will also do it eventually. That is just very long on a very small space.

Well the idea isn't that you sit there watching it normally after you are no longer entranced by it. You set it up and go away. When you come back the floor is clean and dry except where the Scooba is sitting. It works great, most of mine are at least 14 years old now.

If I use mine on slate tile, which is porous and irregular, it does leave a lot of water. But if I use it on smooth porcelain tile, which is like marble, very flat and non porous - virtually dry when the Scooba is done. Almost no water left behind. Like it was squeegeed dry. Believe how well it sucks up the water is very dependent on which type floor it is working on.

Adam, In your opinion do you believe that the Irobot braava m6 (6100) price will possibly go down even MORE? Im torn between that one which by the way, has been on sale for $399 ALL Week! OR/vs.. The iRobot Braava Jet 240 Superior Robot Mop @ 179.00 In YOUR opinion- Mostly ceramic tile through out our home Can the Braava handle that? It is VERY close to my maximum Im going to spend right now OPINIONS PA-LEASEE would be great! Even if another product that u may feel works better Thanks! ~Shay

Strange you would want one that charges/resume but unlike roomba it doesn't self clean/reload/recharge/resume so you need to be around for hands on. This is why I'm staying with my original braava even though takes 12 hours to charge. None do grout lines and really only good for 1 room at a time none change pads
