Is the Indian Scout STILL the BEST mid size cruiser?

The Indian scout, circa 2015 via Indian (Polaris) has been going strong with great sales and a tremendous product, but is it still the best mid size cruiser?

Agree with everything you said. I won't bore you with my bike history, but this is the only one I can never get enough of. (2021 69ci regular Scout) Took it out today, just for an hour, or until fingers fell off (WI). Just ticked over to 11,000 mi, and have had 0 issues. Now next year will be different. Tires are getting iffy, battery is just within spec. so probably do them 2 items in spring. By the time the new tires wear out, I will be 70, and will look closely @ my abilities before replacing. The kind of riding I enjoy is perfect for this motorcycle, as I no longer tour or stay overnight. Don't need any technology, as I never had it years ago. Better bikes, maybe. Much worse bikes, absolutely. Always enjoy your videos.

Built and designed by Victory engineers, introduced in 14 and on sale in 15. I worked at Polaris at the time. The Octane was on paper in September of 2009 and Polaris needed something new to bring in new customers to Indian. The Octane design was called the LSM in house throughout testing. @@pin75us1

You pretty much nailed it, ABUSA! I own a Victory which is pretty much perfect out of the box. Incredibly reliable. I would love to own a Scout as a daily rider. What stops me is my size and weight. while I am sure it could be modified, it would be cost prohibitive for my needs and there are either motorcycles in the same price class that would fit better, but for the average sized person the Scout would be a blast!

At the time the scout was introduced it’s was the best bang for the buck… I had no idea of Indian motorcycles when I’ve gotten my amazing 48…! Still have the same battery on my 2020 RKS and have no issues either (OEM). My choice would be the Triumph Bobber just for style… Great video brother🫡🇺🇸😃

Good to see an owner overview of the standard Scout - not a Bobber or Rogue. I fully concur with everything you said and my 2018 model has been perfectly reliable too. I would add a couple more high points though. I much prefer the full-length metal fenders on the standard Scout; firstly because I love the classic look, and secondly because they keep all that nasty schtuff off my radiator, engine and me. In your "mid-size" comparison I would automatically dismiss any chain-driven bike. For me, the Scout's low maintenance belt drive is a clear winner. I would also consider shaft drive and, for that reason, I'm drawn to the very affordable Moto Guzzi V7 850 Special. Love the retro styling and true vintage pedigree but would probably hold onto my Scout for when the Guzzi is in the shop!

This is the best review of the standard scout i have ever seen yet. You ride a 2017. right now i ride a 2019 honda rebel. for 2 years. i was at the Indian dealership just the other day. What a fantastic looking machine(2023) 100 hp, low low seat. yeah, i am planning on getting a standard scout real soon, not a bobber, rogue, what ever. yours looks great, love the bags, the mini apes, i don't think of Polaris when i look at this bike, it's an INDIAN!! great review, i thank you for a great review(guess i said that already, but great review)

I wanted (and still do) an Indian Scout. Granted, I had never ridden a cruiser up until 4 months ago so whatever I decided to go with would be my first bike. I sat on the Scout in the dealership and loved the feel, the height, the weight and just the all around look. Since I was looking for a "beginner" bike, I decided to go with a used bike. I looked at everything and really wanted to get into riding with the smallest investment possible because at the time, I didn't know if I would enjoy riding. I found a 2015 Triumph Speedmaster at a really great price. It feels so much like the Scout and I'm enjoying each time I take it out. The Scout will be my next bike for sure.

I bought my used 16 Scout in 2021. I agree with you on the Scout. My problems were, starter, stator leaking oil, rear ABS sensor went bad. That's it. I put the S&S air filter with Performance slip-ons, no remap. I won't do a remap cause there is no need to. Why mess with something that doesn't need messing with. Right? My biggest complaint is having to remove the gas tank to get to the spark plugs, and air cleaner. Such a pain. It puts a big grin on my face every time I pull it out to ride. Fast, plenty of torque and handles the twisty's so well. Wish it had a bigger gas tank. Other than that, I'm gonna ride it till the wheels fall off! Great video and conversation! Ride and stay safe ABUSA!

As far as a V-Twin cruiser, Scout! Not the bobber or other styles. The style you have looks the best for me. I'm a one bike fits all kinda rider. That's why I like my Honda CTX1300, does it all except off road. My choices: Honda Shadow would be nice with a 1000 cc engine, but 750 may be too small. I'd have to ride it at highway speeds to decide. Harley Nightster, no. Just no on any Harley. Too many inherent problems on every engine since the Evolution. But that's a loonng list for another discussion. I have a 900 Vulcan. It's a nice size, low seat height, but the engine revs don't feel or sound right above 55mph. I changed the pulleys to gear it up. 4th gear is now more like 5th so much better for highway. The Honda Rebel 1100T DCT checks most of the boxes for me. Already accessorized for touring, no need to spend money on saddlebags or windshield. 3L storage under the seat, several electronic gadgets. Cons: Chain drive, needs forward foot controls, larger tank. I'd honestly be happy with a DCT Goldwing for everyday riding. It may be 100 lbs more than I ride now, but the center of gravity is so much better. The reverse gear would get me out of anything I'd encounter. But I'm getting older and looking to one day drop some weight with something like the Rebel 1100.

The only issue I have with Indian is why do they want to push that 1901 stuff. I think it is ridiculous since they went 50 years without building a bike and then the Indian name been in business and broke two or three times before Polaris.
