JB, very cool hose manager. I could use this in my garage for sure. Just wondering if you have tried watering the lawn with this? I ask because I would be going from a 3/4” to a 1/2” hose and worry I would not be able to get enough flow with the smaller diameter.
@GarageGear

David!!! They sell this in 90’ by 5/8” diameter hose as well. I would go with that one. After using it for a few weeks now I noticed drop in pressure with the 1/2. . Not a lot but still noticeable. I’m going to step up the 5/8 to make watering my 10,000 square feet lawn. I’m still very impressed with this product. Super handy and a huge time saver! 👍👍
I tried installing it on brick. I used a 3/8 drill bit but the anchor will not fit and go all the way. The nail will though. I’m scared to use a 1/2 masonry drill bit as I’m afraid it will be too big for the anchor. Any recommendations?? Thank you!!
@GarageGear

I would go and buy the correct size masonry bit as it will help ensure a good fit.
Hello, now after a year, how has this 130 ft Giraffe retractable hose stood up? It is in your garage, so it is not seeing the heat, so I think it may have a bit more life. Mine will see a lot of heat, but will have some shade during late afternoon. Any thoughts or comments? Thanks
@GarageGear
Жыл бұрын
Hey Jenny! Holding up just fine. Should be fine outside. I know plenty of people with them outdoors and they’re fine. If you have water pressure issues though I would go for the 5/8 hose. Thanks for watching
After 10 years of dragging 100 feet of hose around to my driveway whenever I wanted to wash a car I took the plunge. I opted for the 5/8 inch 90 ft variant with a metallic mount bracket. The plastic screw inserts are junk. I purchased 5/16 lag shields for mounting the bracket to brick.

Excellent thanks for sharing
Since you have the reel mounted in your garage, how do you drain it? Does the reel have a drain option or do you have to disconnect the supply hose to drain? If the outlet end of the hose is open to atmosphere, would the hose automatically drain when being retracted?
@GarageGear

Hey scruffy, when you hold the trigger down and retract it in water flows out so it stores with hardly any water in it.

Thanks for being the only video I have found that actually mounted on a wall! The hose reel looks super solid but the instructions were very much lacking in detail. You explained it really well, what to do when there’s only one stud. Thanks again!!! Heading out to install it now! 🎉

thinking about buying one but the sizes are throwing me off. They sell 1/2" and 5/8", but isn't a standard hose fitting 3/4"? How will I connect the 1/2" or 5/8" to my existing pressure washer that works with a standard hose?

lol, i chatted with giraffe tools customer support and they say "to clarify, the fittings in all of our garden hoses are 3/4, the hose diameters could be 1/2in or 5/8in, so, the connectors are standard"

Hey space coast the hose couplers are all standard 3/4. The hose diameters are 1/2 or 5/8. The 5/8 has better pressure but a slightly shorter hose length. 👍
Hello ! It’s been 2 YEARS since you posted this video. How has this unit held up? Do you still love it, working as it should 2 years later? Thanks very much. Do you still suggest to buy this unit? Which size hose gives the best amount of pressure ? With all their new products out, would you still purchase this unit? Thank you

I want to get their electric pressure washer that is wall mounted as well but the ratings are keeping me away. Some have videos of the motor burning out and smoking. May buy this though.

Very cool. I just watched a video from on a flush mount outside mount that doesn't leak at all and you can disconnect after you are finished. Perfect for winter and not wanting to have your hose taking up space outside.

Oh wow! Easiest garage in town! You’re giving me ideas Flint!👍
Young man. There is a far, far more valuable reason for any person (male or female) to buy and use this new hose reel. One your wife should definitely think about, if she pushes back regarding the price tag. PLEASE, let her read this. And both of you, think carefully. As we get older our backs and bodies take a BEATING, playing or ‘WORKING to earn that living’! Your backs will begin to cause you discomfort. And then PAIN. Then excruciating pain. That task of bending and rewinding by hand, won’t be a time waster. It will become almost impossible. You will find it screamingly painfull. Then, something simple like washing your car, becomes pure hell. So the hose WILL BE LEFT laying ALL over the garage floor. Untill someone else wyneds it up for you (both). This auto-retractable hose reel will be one of the best things you’ll ever buy. It’ll pay for itself in every way. I KNOW. I’m there NOW. I WAS young and nimble. Now, I’m only 60 years old. An unknown congenital back deformation has now robbed me of the ability to squat and wynd a hose reel, like your old one. Forever. So, please. While you are young, THINK about. Plan for when you get older. You’ll be ABLE to work & play longer, and LIVE better in your OWN HOME, if you THINK about making your HOME easier to maintain NOW. This auto-retractable hose wyneder is a Great idea! Where can I purchase one, in Canada, and what sizes and lengths can I get. I’m a gardener and need it now. (No, I don’t work for the company either!☺️)

@@userbosco neither of those issues on mine. I control the hose as it reals it’s way back in. Make it go in slow and it should be fine. Don’t just let it go. It’ll wind in too fast and probably break that way. Also anchor it to a stud and it should be fine mounted too. 👍
