I have a very strong appreciation for the fact that the animatronics in this movie weren’t just CG’d in and were actual life-size puppets. Blumhouse tends to do practical stuff like that really well.

I really liked Mike as a protagonist. You’d expect him to be your typical horror movie character who just stumbles into the dark and gets scared. Instead he actively makes a choice to continue going to the pizzeria. He’s very sympathetic due to his backstory, the fact he actively figures things out and ask questions shows that he’s pretty smart too. Mike really hooked me into this movie and made me invested in how he’ll both survive and uncover the mystery behind the deaths of the kids.

Fr, the only dumb thing he does is sleep on the job numerous times, but the film does a good job explaining why he'd end up in dangerous situations that isn't just because he's dumb, his character motivations actually drive the plot which is kinda rare to see tbh. I honestly think the screenwriters did a great job building the plot around the characters rather than the characters around the plot . My only gripe really is that William Afton should have been set up as the main antagonist as he just showed up out of nowhere.

I think what I liked most about this movie is that it really managed to capture the vibe of the FNAF fandom at its peak (the good side of the fandom, that is). It felt like one of those weirdly high budget fan films you'd find when scrolling through KZread in 2015. Even without all the obscure references, it'd still feel like a love letter by vibes alone.

Been noticing this trend of movies based on popular movies (such as Sonic, Super Mario, and now FNaF) that movie critics would review negatively, fans love them, and others thinking they're okay or just good. Seems like they stay more true to the original properties, which I think helps a lot too. I remember there was a time that it seemed like every movie based on a videogame were viewed poorly, especially from the fans. Good that fans have these movies they can genuinely enjoy.

As someone who's been a Fnaf fan since SL came out, I genuinely think had fun & Im exited for what's to come next; this isn't the jaw-dropping, super spoopy masterpiece me & many of the fans overly hyping it up (fr or jokingly), but I still think that this is a good begining for the likely future movie franchise of sorts! It's like Sonic 1, as it pleases the Fnaf fan in me, but it can definitely be tweaked & built upon to be better! Hopefully the next movie(s) will be better & improve on the 1st!

Ultimately I barely care about FNaF but even I will say the actual animatronics look really good. They're really detailed and look very faithful without coming off goofy in universe. Which I find pretty impressive.

Really? I’d say it wasn’t worth the wait.. should’ve stayed unreleased. Felt like we spent more time outside the pizzeria than inside. The animatronics weren’t even scary or mean. They were literally super friendly throughout the whole movie. The beginning scene is the most action besides when those people break in the building. 3.2/10

Like the movie wasn’t really about the jump scares it was more about personal drama which full length movies typically have to be about. A story. A lot of people don’t want JUMPSCARE the movie they like FNAF for the lore. I used to find Fnaf as a young kid very scary but I don’t anymore and really just liked solving lore puzzles. They were friendly because they liked Abby and it’s explained in the movie. They’re just kids themselves really. The base Fnaf animatronics have never been shown to be overly mean or cruel to anyone who isn’t William Afton or Mike Schmidt in the games they work with kids and despite being possessed they love children because they are children. They don’t remember what happened with William or who killed them until the end of the movie. And the ghost kids or the animatronics are really mean to Mike. They attack him multiple times and try to stuff him.

I'm honestly was surprised by how solid the movie was. Its not groundbreaking and as a horror movie, its a little laughable, but honestly, I loved how ambitious the story was. I think its a little ironic though that the jumpscares were the weakest part imo. Also massive W Universal for including the remix at the end.

A lot of the plot's issues can honestly be explained by the fact that this is Scott's first screenplay. Usually when you have a situation like this, you'd partner him with another writer who HAS written screenplays for movies before. But...the other two writers with him...were also new. I do hope if they get a sequel, that they put him with a more experienced writer. Still let him have his creative freedom, but have someone able to steer it in a more clear way. Not so oddly paced in areas, like the last twenty minutes just....being a sudden dump of info and then Afton just showing up.

Yeah I totally agree with this comment I absolutely loved the movie 8/10 for me. But in the sequel I want it to be alot better horror and story telling wise because I don't know it felt like they were holding back on this movie in some way.

I honestly like the fact they kept William mysterious for this movie. Opens up for a sequel and can lighten us on how his backstory is like in the actual games (william was barley mentioned in fnaf one but he got introduced in fnaf 2) And they can do more stuff with Golden Freddy in the next movie too

I honestly really liked Mike as a character because you genuinely sympathise with him and his trauma, especially at the start when he beats up that guy who he thought was kidnapping a kid, when he’s offered the choice to dream about his brother and family being safe every night you understand why he would agree to that, he cares for Abby but what happened to his brother really affected him. I think he was a genuinely great protagonist and honestly my favourite part of the movie.

Completely agree. That whole sequence where he lets Abby go was very compelling, it shows that while he still loves his sister, he can't get over what he used to have before the kidnapping. I'm surprised Mark didn't care to mention any of it.

I really think that the environment you're in while watching the movie makes a big impact on how you feel afterwards. For me, my theatre was filled to the brim. People were laughing, gasping, and even cracking jokes at times which really enhanced the overall experience. I left the theatre with a huge grin on my face and truly believe that the audience played a big role in making a memorable experience 😁😁

We had the same experience with people laughing, clapping, etc, and tbh it worsened the experience. The crowd was so loud and so "omg no way!!!" like every five minutes... Even if you're really excited and loving the movie, theatre etiquette should still be followed.

To be honest, I deliberately went into this movie with no expectations, and I loved it. Literally my only deciding factor for whether or not a movie is good is "Did I have fun watching it?"

Same, I liked the games when I was 15, been waiting for this movie since then, knew full well that the movie wasn't gonna be "good" but the movie was fun to watch, especially to see all the fanservice and little easter eggs in the background. It's a movie for the fans ultimately.

as someone who barely knows the lore to these games, I loved this movie for just how much of an unapologetic shitpost it was. Its rare to see a film actually utilise meme humour like FNAF did

Just finished it. I thought it was pretty good with a decent basis on the lore. Besides me thinking it could have done with a little less humor and more horror, I personally thought it found an okay middle ground with casual viewers and fans. I mainly found myself very torn on how much I wanted to see the animatronics in general, but also not wanting the magic to be gone from over exposure.

My take on the lore is that they basically did as some type of alternate universe but tried to make the lore from the feel cohesive and not at all like a mess the games have it in. And it honestly works. It's kinda funny how despite Vanessa's presence in the movie i actually prefer her here in the movie than i do the games.

My 8 year old enjoyed it. It's a "horror" film for him. ( even the directors said that they basically made it for the younger audience.) I've never played the games, or read the books... everything I know about FNAF is from youtubers either fans themselves or theory makers. To me this feels like a few small edits and it could be shown on basic Cable in the daytime around Oct. It's hocus Pocus. It's a "family friendly" "Scary" movie to let the young ones feel like they are watching something out of their age range. back in my day this would have been rated PG. (old person here, brave little toaster, watership down, who framed roger rabbit. anything don Blurth) I feel this movie and any sequels it gets will end up like .. Gremlins I guess. Not really scary, but people will have a spot for it.

Tbh, they dealt with some pretty mature topics as well (other than the usual FnaF stuff) like Mike is basically a pill addict in this movie, and it's handled tastefully. For a movie obviously meant for kids, I was surprised to see that.

This movie kind of has me in two minds. On one hand, the visuals are phenomenal. Set design is awesome, the animatronics actually look and feel real (I love the Jim Henson Company’s practical work) and oddly enough, the costume design leant a lot to the ambiguous time frame the movie takes place in. Even the child actors did a great job. But then you have the Cupcake mauling people, Freddy’s ridiculous angry eyebrows that made me laugh every time he was supposed to look menacing, and the whole audience CHEERING when Afton said the Line. Not to mention Afton fucking BODYING Mike. Like he can linebacker tackle a dude and be fine but Vanessa taps a springlock with a broom and they go off? Abby magically snapping the kids out of their stupor and turning them on Afton could have been cool but the way it was handled felt sort of rushed. Like the animatronics were ready to kill her and imprison her with them for all eternity but a doodle shows them that the child murderer is a child murderer? Of the things people have mentioned, I’m bothered by the animatronics acting like kids the least. I think it’s kind of sweet. The scene with the fort reminds me of the surfing scene in Lilo and Stitch. Actually, a lot of the film reminds me of Lilo and Stitch. I don’t think anybody thought this one was going to be a straight up horror, and I feel like what kills there were were fine, if obviously PG-13. It’s a solid 7/10

I don’t think the drawing scene at the end felt rushed. At the beginning of the movie the teacher tells Mike that drawings have a very powerful effect on children and at the middle Abby says to Mike that they love drawings. I feel like more could have been done but I wouldn’t say it was rushed either.

I liked the cinema expierence of this movie because the whole audience was just giving commentary the whole time, laughing, gasping and just generally clowning on the movie. As for the movie itself it was fine, I wouldn't have enjoyed it so much if I was watching it alone at home, but the crowd energy of the fans was just so funny.

Also you have to like text a number and tell them people are being loud for them to get removed, there are no employees in the theater during the show to oversee it or anything

​@@brockmaardanstoned6830Yeah it was so weird being in such a loud theater especially here in the Netherlands. Normally we're all really quiet and pretty boring. But for the first time everyone was cheering and clapping during the whole movie. It was such an amazing experience tbh!

The plot and ending in my opinion felt too rushed, it’s like the spirits of the dead children who are within the animatronics are trying to earn Abby’s trust in order to stuff her into an animatronic suit so that she can be with them forever, and then Vanessa is like oh yeah by the way my dad who dresses in a yellow rabbit suit is coming to kill you, and William just randomly shows up out of nowhere and tries to kill them all.

It has a lot of plot holes. Vanessa knows the animatronics are dangerous but when Mike asks if they’re dangerous she just lets Abby do what she wants. We know Max is her brother but how did he die? Is it a similar situation to Circus Baby and Elizabeth? Is Vanessa supposed to be this universes Michael Afton? The whole movie I thought she was going to be revealed as Elizabeth Afton. Is Max the crying child in this story if William didn’t kill him? He’s very vindictive just like golden Freddy. If there’s no Charlie in this universe or no spring lock failure to kill William back when the original murders happened how did the kids possess the suits? Charlie put their souls in there but before that it was just bodies. The ghosts chased William causing the spring lock failure and Charlie puts them in the suits? Is Max an equivalent to Charlie because he seemed much more aware than all the other kids but we didn’t see his reaction to remembering his dad either killed him or got him killed? Why did William kill Max and not Vanessa? Was it an accident? Why did William kill the kid’s in this universe? Was he still looking for ways to be immortal? I’m this universe it seems like he just liked killing kids. What happened to Mike and Abby’s aunt after Freddy “put her to sleep”? Why is Mike so caught up on Garrett? He doesn’t seem like he’s depressed or suicidal but his obsession with his brother to be having dreams about his abduction every night seems like it’d make you be very depressed and unstable? And that fountain incident shows that but after that it stops. Mike is self aware that he’s been dangerous but he’s only been prescribed sleeping pills? A doctor with such a violent outburst knowing why Mike did it would probably hospitalized him until he can work through his trauma. Just very odd choices but I had a great time.

@@thephoenixxm4160 Okay maybe I’m misremembering names and Max was the babysitter. I assumed Max was the name of Vanessa’s little brother,the fifth child. Unless I completely misunderstood and that’s not even her brother. I thought she said the little blonde boy who didn’t have an animatronic was her little brother and his name was Max.

I’m quite the movie critic, especially with how bad most modern movies have been lately. As a Fnaf fan who played the very first game in 6th grade when it came out, to now, I was hoping it would at least be a decent 5/10 movie for nostalgic purposes. But somehow, it was a fabulous 9/10. I’m still speechless on how good it was!

5:48 Vanessa does warn Mike about William coming after him, so it’s not like he comes out of nowhere 5:58 in the first scene with William, he hesitates to say mikes last name, so does Vanessa. They knew Garret so it’s safe to assume they knew Mike was his older brother. There’s also a chance Vanessa told William about Mike being garrets brother after he told her, which is why he knew about him and Garrett. Still, it was a fun film, I liked the use of the dog animatronic (a pretty obscure reference to an old hoax) and I really enjoyed the theater experience. I loved Mat Pat and Cory’s cameo, and everyone in my theater cheered when William said that one line.

another cool reference is that the Babysitter was stuffed in Shadow Freddy and Shadow Freddys face flickers on the cameras for a sec at one point. But I do think we're going down the route with Ella and Charlie in future movies but with Abby replacing Charlie. Also with the negatives, I feel if the movie wasn't so focused on making it specifically over Five nights, we would have seen more animatronic stuff. But considering the title itself has "Five Nights" it kinda limited them to having to spread all the most important shit to the final night.

Gonna watch this video later tonight, but here's my thoughts after seeing it less than an hour ago: as a movie, it was clunky and disjointed. As a fnaf experience? It was wonderful. I was smiling and laughing the whole way through, pointing at the screen almost every five minutes thinking "omg it's the thing!" I'd say go see it if you're a fnaf fan. Definitely worth it imo

How I felt. It's a fun movie, but it would be difficult to call it a gooood movie. It's a lot of fun, but like. "It's part of the fnaf franchise, so you're NOT ALLOWED to think it's bad!" that kind of mentality I feel like actually ends up harmful to really developing things you care about. I liked the movie a lot, but I just can't in my mind say it was a well made one, though very fun.

FNAF is often seen as an introduction to horror for young folks, and getting used to the idea that movies you like will have shitty RT scores is a big part of that.

Bro after the scene were freddy do "chop-chop" with the womans body, someone on my theater said "WAS THAT THE BITE OF 87?!" And i am from brazil and hearing *this line* made me laugh

I honestly hope they explore Vanessa and William’s relationship in the sequel. Like how Fnaf 2 (the game) was a prequel, Fnaf 2 (the movie) could go more in depth to the past of William and Vanessa and explain why they are the way they are. Then in the third movie, it can be about some final showdown between Springtrap and Mike.

I'm hoping they'll use parts of the Vanessa/Vanny storyline from the games in the sequels since Vanessa is related to William in the movie.

I would call it a okay to good thriller but a great videogame adaptation and a open love letter to the fandom, i just love the movie way too much for me to think objectivly

As someone who was 10 when the game first came out, I absolutely loved this movie. Sure it did drag at points and took a while to get to the good stuff. the sets were well done and it honestly felt like a movie from a different era in a good way. The kills were creative and i do love how they add little details and change the lore around slightly.

Glad you mentioned the “children’s bodies in the suits” line since it’s the only part of the movie that made me feel kinda disturbed. Granted it’s never brought up again but it sets the tone for the rest of the movie pretty well.

Just saw it an hour ago with my sister. The people behind us would not shut the hell up. They were being rude. You can imagine how annoying they were when MatPat was on screen 😡

This was word for word my exact experience

My personal favorite scene was the beginning security guard fighting for his life. I do wish they focused more on those kind of moments rather than the dream theory and Vanessa plot line. But still, at the end of the day the FNAF fan inside me enjoyed myself.

as a horror movie, to me it wasn't very scary, but as a character driven movie it's great. my 11 year old nephew and I enjoyed ourselves when we watched it. hope the sequel builds off of this one and adds more character and horror.

Still can’t believe that they used the bloody living tombstones fnaf 1 song for the goddamn credits. Legit gave me an aneurism when I heard it.

It's not really a good movie, but it was still really fun to watch for me as a FNAF fan. I totally get why critics that have nothing to do with the fandom dislike it, but it's a great love letter to those who grew up (or are still growing up) playing the games.

I saw two parents bringing their (7-9) year old son 💀 I get that the franchise has gotten very childish but the movie is rated 15 here in Greece. How the parents brought their child to a movie like this is anyone's guess. But yeah, I really enjoyed the film and I was very pleased with it's production, but I would've given it a higher score if it actually was, you know, scary? The movie's plot also was very inconsistent imo. The 'Afton' details came out of nowhere in the last 15 minutes and it all ended pretty fast.

The biggest stength of FNAF was its weakness here. Fans have so many different interpretations of how the series should be both tonally and in content that it was never going to satisfy everyone. As a longtime fan of the series, i am very happy with how the movie turned out and enjoyed picking up on all the subtle easter eggs and nods to games and fan creations

Yeah honestly I was very surprised at how tame it was for a horror movie. I'm usually a huge wuss when it comes to horror, but I had no scares when watching it. I did really enjoy it though, finally seeing a springlock failure in live-action was definitely the highlight for me

There was only one really "gore-ey" moment i can recall and its pretty obvious its gonna happen. If it helps *Spoiler on when to look away* - When the babysitter goes in and starts looking into freddie's mouth, I would look away if super sensitive.

As someone who doesn't normally care about FNAF otherwise and didn't follow any of the game lore leading up to it, I still thought it was a fun time. I even got a few good chuckles out of it. It wasn't entirely scary imo, but it doesn't really have to be. The story for the most part was easy to follow too. I'd say it's just as good if not better than the Mario movie, because unlike there where things mostly just simply happened you can tell they at least tried with this one. I give it an a 7 or 8 out of 10. My brother absolutely loved it though, and I can't say I blame him. Everyone who worked on it did a surprisingly pretty good job. It's not a movie I'd personally revisit all that often, but it was still more than decent for what it did. I hope Markiplier gets to make a cameo in the sequel lol. I have lots of respect towards Scott, which is rare to see for most new games, films, TV shows, etc. creators nowadays.

My one problem with the movie is how it goes. As a slightly Fnaf fan myself, i thought the game would go over 5 nights. Each one is getting more difficult, and the suspense would make the terrifying moments worth it. You dont need gore for the first few nights, just really good coriaraphed suspense and jumpscares! Then the movie is perfect for me.

Feel like this another case of the Super Mario Bros Movie where you'll have people who are fans of the games will love it, but the people who never heard of the games and were expecting something good will be disappointed.

I really liked it, every time I noticed a reference or meme relating to the games, I got real happy. Someone in the theater screamed “was that the bite of ‘87” during the movies one scene, and it was great, I respect this movie a lot for what it is. I was somewhat impressed by the puppetry costume, and set design. I was even invested in the plot, it was not scared in the least during it, but I don’t care. I liked this movie a lot

Honestly I liked it. They translated the game as well as they could into a movie. It was entertaining, had references for fans and overall served as a good movie. A lot of people complaining seemingly wanted an hour and a half of someone playing fnaf 1 while matpat talks about lore in the background. It was great, they did a good job with this movie.

They totally could have done a better job adapting it into a movie if Scott hadn't went with Blumhouse, who in my opinion are known for making the most consecutive mediocre horror movies I've ever seen. This movie could've been genuinely scary if handled properly but obviously the franchise has been watered down to the point that it only caters to children, which isn't incredibly surprising but a little sad to see.

@@thc_freebaser I mean we can all agree fnaf hasn't been an adult, R rated horror franchise for a long time, arguably since it even began, no matter how grim the subject matter is. The focus of the games has been the story and lore with horror as the sort of basis for the games themselves. I think the best way I can describe it is teen/children's horror as sort of oxymoronic as that possibly sounds, and I doubt that as horror fnaf would be scary to any adults. Like just go back to the first game and genuinely tell me you find it, apart from the subject matter, frightening, even though as children we all considered it very scary. So I think as an adaptation of that kind of "teen/children's horror" they did well and it was also a nice trip through being a child fnaf fan. My point is that we are just a too old to enjoy fnaf as a horror franchise. There is a good reason why the story is the most popular and talked about aspect of all the games.

Like, was SpringTrap merely walking up to you in FNAF 3 really scary??? I don't think so, but I respect how you feel about the movie!

I am genuinely not joking when I say that my entire audience started cheering when MatPat said "that's just a theory." They also started cheering the moment William Afton's name was dropped.

Wow…I am so honored that Mark delayed the release of this video and changed the entire script just so that it wouldn’t match my bingo card 🥲 also fun fact: when seeing this movie yesterday, after the scene when the babysitter gets chomped in half by Freddy’s jaw, I audibly said “WAS THAT THE BITE OF ‘87!?” and I shit you not the entire theater erupted in laughter. I seriously love the FNAF fandom so much, man.

Been seeing the "make your own opinion" pop up way more with this film and while it's something to agree with I can't help to feel that we need to stop relearning this lesson Like bloody hell we are taught the difference between fact and opinion in like 2nd grade

I guess I never had the expectation of being scared by the movie. I knew going in that Scott focuses on the story asspects first, before thinking about the scares so that was my expectation going into the movie and I was happy with how it turned out! I enjoyed every minute of the movie and my only "complaint" is that the spring Bonnie suit was an obvious wearable suit and didn't look like it fit among the other spring lock suits we saw in the movie

I watched this last night in theatres and This movie was completely fire, I did not waste my money at all. The story was solid and I loved Mike and Abby’s relationship dynamic. I don’t understand the hate with the pillow fort considering it was stated multiple times they are kids, and were/are easily manipulated, especially by drawings. The only thing that was bad was the whole Vanessa being William’s daughter, and not being alot of Gore. But other than that the movie is a solid 9/10, plus it had many horror aspects, like Balloon Boy statue, the kids crying sound effects which honestly gave me chills. The animatronics catching bodies, the dream sequences, and the paranormal activity. I noticed alot of easter eggs too, the Chicas rainbow at the start of the movie, the its me written on the walls when the first paranormal activity started happening etc. Bonnie and Chica looking at the cams after sending the Cupcake in the vents was pretty funny too lmfao, and i got the Freddy Fazbears pizza box (the Movie Theater pizza was garbage though) I put my ticket in there, for memory purposes. Something to never forget. I loved going to the theater and seeing it because the crowd reactions were pretty good and weird at the same time…like 2 people called Bonnie their boyfriend lmao, was calling william “daddy”. Everyone got scared at the Balloon Boy statue thing, multiple reactions to the animatronics moving and interacting, everyone screamed and clapped when Cory appeared too. When i was carrying the Fnaf box home it meant alot to me, idk if it was just me but it felt like i was carrying all of my childhood with me, it was a nice feeling. Can’t wait for Fnaf 2 and Fnaf 3.

as a huge FNAF fan, I highly encourage other fans watch this in theaters ! if you don't like commentary and cheering over stuff, watch it on streaming. The theater experience made the movie significantly better

My mom, my little brother and I watched on streaming, and still had a ball.

They could've made the springlock failure scene a little bit longer and showed the locks snapping in his body and you'll see the locks going in through the cracks of the suit of the legs and explained why William killed and what is his goal. Hopefully the next movie it'll be better with more blood.

I personally loved it, it has a few flaws, but I think the way they represent the games and even though the canon strayed from the games (kind of), the story seems well thought out and well written, I saw this with my parents (who only loosely know the lore) and they loved it. It wasn't what I was expecting (more action less horror), but some parts were suspenseful and actually scary. And even the parts that weren't scary, were still engaging and enjoyable. There were inconsistencies, but I'm willing to maintain suspension of disbelief and not stray from the point of the movie. I think this movie is an 8.5/10.

I’m honestly so proud of this movie, they really stuck with the feel of FNaF and out tons of care and effort into it.

I can’t believe when markiplier walked on screen to warn us that “You’ll be staying for 5 nights at Freddy’s.” Truly, the video game film of all time

This movie is just Shaggy using 0.00002% of his true power.

Personally I don't mind if a movie doesn't go out of its way to be understandable to general audiences, I think it's more important to appeal to the fans since their the ones who will enjoy the movie the most and talk about it for years. But an adaptation kinda has a reason to start fresh and that's when it should probably be the easiest to get into for newcomers, plus lots of movies do a good job at both so it's by no means impossible.

An adaptation that is solely designed for fans of the property that it's adapting is such a waste of potential though from a business perspective. Why only cater your film to a comparatively small demographic of people who know of this single franchise, when you could instead write it in a way so that anyone of the genre associated with the property can enjoy it? Would that not have the added benefit of getting more people interested in the adapted series? Movies and shows that require you to do homework by playing, watching, or reading 10+ hours of a DIFFERENT piece of media is just inherently going to be a turn off to a lot of people. It's what making a lot of people less interested in the MCU and Star Wars shows.... if you want to watch Asoka, you need to watch Rebels first. In order to watch Boba Fett, you need to watch Mandalorian- but of wait if you want to understand the latest season of that, you need to watch Boba Fett. I sure hope you like all of these different series', as well as have time to watch them all, because otherwise you'll be left in the dark because the show itself won't bother to explain why that one character is suddenly alive unless you watched a completely different series.

I never said, nor implied, that FNAF was part of a small demographic.

Seeing this opening night was such a blast, everyone in the audience was obviously a fan of the games. Hearing everyone lose it when certain scenes happened was hilarious and it was honestly surreal hearing something as simple as foxy singing or Bonnie hiding in the supply closet on the big screen. I've felt recently that I prefer not looking at films too critically as the most important factor is ultimately whether I enjoyed it and the memories it creates. Of course there's always a part of my brain that will try to objectively analyze media and make me wonder whether a film is actually good quality, as things can be objectively better or worse in aspects, and I believe it is important for media to be objectively criticised, but I'll leave that to the critics (Who are perfectly valid I'm their assessments of these recent video game films and opinions are valuable). I guess what I'm trying to say is that fnaf is dumb and this film is stupid, but I love fnaf and this film, and rightfully so.

It wasn't consistent, they threw in the dead kids at the end when there was no lead up to that reveal at all except for the intro pixel art thing that most casual movie goers didn't even pay attention to.

I don’t get why William says “I always come back” even though nothing happened him. It’s like he knew he become springtrap and turn semi immortal.

I think the sequel is probably going to set up the story more, sort of like the Mario movie went. This one is just an intro the story is built by the others. Especially since the puppet is hinted at in the end credits, its probably going to be a prequel with fnaf 2

I didn’t wanna dickride, but i ended up loving it. It’s weird. I loved it for all the things that a FNAF fan WOULD love it for, yet I’m kind of bothered about it. That there was nothing that made it truly great on it’s own. I kind of hate the mindset of “for the fans.” It means that the movie is unlikely to be enjoyed by most non fans. Scott said he wanted it to be a good movie in it’s own right, even if you’ve never heard of FNAF. Emma and Jason Always said “for the fans.” It’s shows a clear difference. Not to say they didn’t care, they clearly cared a TON. It’s just kind of confusing i guess. Like, do they think fans won’t like a genuinely great film? Dunno. Whatever the case, low 20s on rotten tomatoes is still an insult to it. I’d say around 50-60 is far more fare. At least the animatronics were great (Oscar worthy imo) and this film has by FAR the best fan service of any video game movie and it’s not even close. Great actors and set too. But man was that table fort building montage such fucking whiplash.

Can you elaborate on this? I feel like I get what you’re saying with “The movie should be more than just ‘for the fans’.” but not enough. For example, what exactly qualifies as a good adaptation for all people?

As a viewer that hasn't really gotten into the FNAF stuff, I REALLY enjoyed it. I watched it with my friend that is into FNAF and he helped me connect the dots in the story. Personally, I enjoy movies with great storytelling. I think the movie lived up to the hype. One flaw in this movie is where you can't really tell if the movie is a comedy or a horror film. Sure there were a few flaws here and there but as someone who isn't really into FNAF, I think the movie was good.

This came out quickly! Well done!

Something I've noticed is that People complain A lot about how we don't get an answer as to why William kills Kids. The thing is it's never been told in the games either (not that i've seen atleast) nor the books (that one i don't know about, never read the books). All this tells me is that we still have no idea why William kills Kids and that chances are that we won't know until FNAF ends (also if there is a next movie, the reason why he kills won't be explained in it, maybe just when and how he kills but that's it) Edit: I think that at this point even Scott doesn't know why William kills Kids. And even if we ever get an answer most People won't like it and will hate it and say the reason doesn't make sense or is just boring or something

It was pretty good until near the end where they really started rushing. They didn’t know how to write the payoff for all these built up mysteries so they revealed that Vanessa knew every little thing from the start and is just now choosing to reveal everything. Then they shove in Afton who exposits everything and immediately dies . Even the dialogue in that scene showed how much they were rushing to explain everything what with Afton going “haha Vanessa I am your father and I killed all those kids and Mike I killed your brother haha now I kill you isn’t that irony???” They even had to throw in the ‘I always come back’ which doesn’t make sense for him to say yet because he hasn’t really come back from anything. It was fun for fnaf fans but not a very good movie. I think it should be enjoyable for general audiences, not just the fans

They didn't rush anything

I was really surprised that I liked it, I watched it somewhat as a joke w some friends after watching the Scorsese movie and it was genuinely pretty enjoyable lol. Knew not to take itself seriously without also constantly winking at the camera

I now have marks permission to draw his character. I won’t let him down.

My favorite part of the movie was at the end of the climax, where William Afton is defeated, the animatronics close in on him, Mike and Abbie carry Vanessa out of the crumbling building, the screen cuts to black… and then a kid near the front of the theater bluntly says “That kinda sucked.” The audience laughed because that one statement was how all of us felt in that moment.

Surprising to hear the name Vanessa pop up. Wouldn't be surprised if she turns out to be Afton's daughter in the games, with how much they've futzed the canon around.

I think the Buzsaws in the Freddy Head is too goofy and so fucking cliché. But the original idea that you'd die, because you'd find that your eyes and teeth only see the light of day.

i waited 8 years for this movie and im so happy how it turned out, im definitely rewatching this every single halloween as tradition lmao

The problem with most horror movies nowadays is that they don’t give you that feeling of anxiety or suspense. It’s just cheap jump scares and CGI gore. Talk to Me was a good horror movie because it had that feeling of anxiety in its more disturbing moments. I never believed for a second the FNAF’s movie would be scary, just entertaining enough.

bro what are you going on about. most horror movies now more than ever are doing less jump scares and are expanding into other forms of horror. invisible man, hereditary, the menu and ready or not. these are all films that have came out in the last 5 years that dont rely on jump scares as there main form of horror so i dont understand why youre saying "most nowadays"

I overall loved the movie all the way through, I don’t think I’ve ever been so excited for a movie, but there are parts that I feel could’ve been done better or would like to see done with I guess a little more lore based, but for what we got I feel like it was very entertaining and brought justice to the series so far and would love to what else they’d bring in a sequel. I liked the attention to detail they had with the design and look of the place and even seeing animatronics from the books was also a cool detail :)

It really dose feel like a night budget fan made project that was released in theaters. And I am vary much okay with that. Like when Matpat made his camo I could feel the whole theater collectively do the Leonardo dicaprio point meme and it was amazing. Also everyone laughed at the fort building scene.

I consider it in the same vein as Megan. Which I enjoyed. I know alot off people wanted a rated-R horror movie, but FNAF was never a blood/gore fest. It had an element of horror sure, but it was more murder mystery with supernatural parts. Also, not all horror needs blood and gore. Thats why I like this movie and Megan.

I feel like this movie being R-rated wouldn't have harmed it in any other than financially because it couldn't be marketed to kids/younger audiences Just because a film has gore doesn't mean that it immediately becomes edgy or cookie cutter Good writing stops that from happening And while the game hasn't always been gorey the books and some content in the games have been extremely gorey visceral I wasn't expecting a copious amount of gore but an actual horror movie The movie feels like it didn't know what exactly it wanted to be That was it's biggest downfall for me

Im not gonna lie, unlike other video game adapatations i actaully found myself at small moments enjoying or at least getting the intention behind the human related stuff. It's far from perfect, but i can at least see a baseline attempt at compelling naratuve that just didnt execute it well. And unlike sonic 2's wedding plot the human plot with mike needing to find a job to help take care of his sister while trying to find his brothers killer is at least on brand with fnaf

Bro im not even a fnaf fan and decided to watch for the fun of it And surprisingly enough, I had a good time, since I was in for that, maybe a jumpscare or two, the horror aspect was definitely lacking though, but a fun time tho

I feel the lack of harder horror is simply the inevitable crux of the franchise and something I expected coming in to the movie. The franchise constantly want to jump around between full fledged horror, all ages Goosebumps-like scares and something toned down enough for young kids to enjoy and buy merch. With videogames and books you can get away with certain stuff easier but movies have a harder time as rules are way more strict and small elements can easily bump your movie up a rating if trying to go too far. Clearly they must have had a hard time to keep the rating they wanted in order to not fully alienate younger watchers that may be able to go see it as it's one of their most profitable group remember that a movie may get bumped a whole rate JUST for having someone say Fuck three times instead of two. Making a horror flick that is toned down enough to be consumed by the target audience must be one hell of a balancing act

It was better than I thought it would be. I really appreciate all the effort that went into making the sets and the animatronics. The story and characters were also well-handled, in my opinion. My biggest problem is that it wasn't scary, and that's saying something coming from me. I just wish we got a movie like the FNaF+ videos... That said, I'm still glad this movie exists and I don't think it makes the games look bad.

Homestly The Part that stuck out to me was when *SPOILER:* the animatronics became friendly between Vannesa, Abby, and Mike. Really highlighrs that when they realized that Mike was with the little sister, they became chill. As while yes, these ARE Murderous Robot Animatronics that need a good wash down, they are also tortured souls of kids. So if the kid says that the adults are chill with her, they are chill back. Also them building the fort was so out of left field and wholesome, I loved it.

It's the worst thing a horror movie can be, not scary and boring, I could forgive the fact they forgot to add any horror if the movie was at least interesting

The only issue is the kills in my opinion. If the fans were as split as they are some are adults and some are kids. You can't have a killing spree with these animatronics and be pg13. I wished they made a little story with William and with his passion for animatronics as a kid then start the movie the start it with everyone should know the background of what's happening. Good video and keep up the good work
