Puppy's downside is kinda underestimated I think. without a Swan or selling units you can only make 2 purchases a turn which is a massive downside. Of course Shrimp's downside (being a piece of shit unit) is much worse, but still.

Honestly, hedgehog is the funniest unit in the game. There are some old (meaning before Steam support) videos of people running 4 hedgehogs + deer. I hope they make self-hurt builds a viable endgame in the future. Right now you need to build specifically for it from turn 3 and tons of RNG to go with it

I ran a hedgehog build against friends and called it the MAD build, because it's incredibly stupid and also stands for mutually assured destruction.

Honestly that first game going perfect until he went 0-3 to consecutive Dodo Roosters was absolute poetry after he's spent so long for some reason SUPER underrating Dodo after the changes. Dodo did not stop being good! I promise! It counters HP Meta and has some wild synergies like that!

I think the consensus is that Dodo received a buff instead of a nerf. I don't think he's underestimating it, he's just pissed that every 3 out of 4 teams after turn 9 are running the Dodo-Rooster combo. And he's very anti meta

It's far too often that I have one critical weakness in my team and by some inverse miracle see teams that exploit it like 3 times in a row. Have a front line badger with cannon fodder behind it? Better believe I'm seeing three bus builds in a row, which kill the cannon fodder with splash so my badger hits my actual team.

But why not sell the Shrimp for the Dragon with the Goat and just buy+sell until you’re numb?

Just get rooster to 50 attack and level it up 90% of the time you will get 10 wins especially with fly/turkey which is why you always buy early cans unlike NL who ignores them often.

I had a fun run last night where my second shop was three blue birds, and my early level 3s were two tropical fish, with one showing up in my shops when I unlocked level 3. Normally I’m not crazy about those two but early game +2/2 and +0/2 was awesome!

Got some juice for NL to ponder on some early shops to try and not pass on. blue bird (back self buffing), dromedary, green beetle, frozen blue bird in the shop (until scaled to high teens/20's). then fill team for best winning chances early. Basic premise is that the blue bird in your line-up self buffs its attack every round, while the dromedary scales the frozen blue bird in the shop every turn start as well as the high hp scaling from feeding green beetle food. You keep the blue bird in the shop frozen till later gaining as much scaling as wins/hp provides then combine the 2 blue birds for a monster.

Has he finally learnt about bluebird?! One of the earliest units that can self buff and then move on to buff everything else?! Could it be?!

Clutching that later round because the tiger had 1-up’d into a 1/1 had me absolutely pogging.

I ran up against somebody yesterday with a badger, lvl 2 hedgehog behind it, tiger behind that, 1 up on the hedgehog, and one more badger with just enough health to survive the onslaught, and a bee. My monkey emerged victorious while my swan tanked the badger.

is it right that I was upset at him keeping a lvl 2 shrimp over a lvl 1 dragon? Dragon + Goat that early on two units with garlic kinda seems insane even if you can't find many T1 units

I've been rolling blue bird rooster since I got the dlc a couple days ago. I really like running it with microbe at the front and a deer right behi it then your choice of support unit somewhere in the middle. I've just been getting my footing in this game and that's kind of a comfort win kinda deal for me so far.

Bro, the dragon is the ideal replacement for the shrimp. Turns +0+2 to 1 into +1+1 to all.

@@LimeyLassen I think cricket is a great early unit to buff with bluebird tbh. with the natural honey effect and absurdly pumped up damage he makes the perfect "buffer" I call it, at the back of a lineup. Get a turtle in front of him and you get two big smacks, die and still win regardless of how low the cricket's health is.

I feel like I'm back in a meta from 10 years ago, still playing animals with good stats, poodle, then trex and winning with 4 or 5 30/30s. I've missed all these meta changes and just stuck with the classic. And I'm not mad about it. See all these real creative builds and just smash them with stats

The creative builds are better for winning quickly more reliably, you can get your 10 wins and get out before turn 14 where things get nuts with scaling.

Not sure if it's too late to suggest as I haven't watched new episodes just yet. But hedgehog or badger is actually anti rooster tech. Surprisingly just a regular honey or grasshopper are also effective. General idea is to have an after death effect that will cause 1 damage to the chick's. This makes the attack Stat from the dodo they've gained a non advantage.

The rooster is level 2, it spits level 2 chicks out. A level 2 animal gets +1,+1. Under normal circumstances it gets +2,+2 because you combine them, but the games code recognizes this as separate events. One event triggers on level (which does trigger onto the chick) and one triggers on stacking (which the chick doesn't have). It doesn't get the +1 attack because its overridden by the rooster's attack. The same concept applies to the level 3 chicks. This concept however doesn't apply to the whale, or spider for some reason. Animals come out with +2,+2, so the whale must be programmed to account for that. I think it's more of an oversight on the dev's part and not much of a bug.

I wish NL would realise the new 10 life system makes a difference EXCLUSIVELY for the first 2 turns. You can only eek out 5 lives from losing at least one of them. Survive them and it’s still 4 lives. I’m glad he’s playing more freely, but I wish he would stop collating all “early” losses as being less impactful, it means he loses track of how he’s actually doing survival wise

Penguin is way better than blue bird. If you count for the time you get the animals penguin is 10x better because it scales everything.
