is the bale processor paying for itself. 9420 is alive

Ойын-сауық

at 6 cents a lb the difference in waste could be close to $12 a day. every 7 dry bales fed is 1 bale gained vs unrolling or bale feeder.

Looks nice and even across the field. I bet thats the field that will get you number 1 spot on pine county corn grower competition!

I've been using high line processor for about 6 years, and really am impressed. I grind a grass hay windrow, then alfalfa on top of that. Sometimes the ground is bare the next day. The other benefit, I feed out on pasture hilltops and can see much improvement on soil health. Lush spring growth. Greatly reduced manure hauling that way..

I knew a dairy farmer years ago who stapled woven wire fence to the posts in his barn so he could chop his dry hay for the cows and blow it in the mouw over the cow stable instead of baling it. He said it made the best feed and he could get a lot more hay in the mouw because it would settle. The fence kept the hay in place instead of falling out onto the threshing floor.

Good morning, Jon. The bale processor is doing a good job. It's saving a lot of feed and improving the feed quality in the process. 👍

I figured youd have an official stamp on your projects, maple grove customs. Man you have a nice layer of hay on that. Just imagine how the next Crop will react.

It's actually really impressive how well the manner from the cows is spread so even. That's what i'm hoping for record crops

Until a guy actually witnesses the feed use for them selves it hard to believe how helpful and handy those grinders are!! Don’t know WHY I procrastinated so long at making the purchase.

Because saving $10 a day isn't money in your pocket that we see. The payment is still money we felt going out. Been a few times that we have done an upgrade and been like why didn't we just do this year's ago.

Do you have to load the bale in a particular way for it to grind properly? Like the way it was baled or in the opposite direction? Just curious.

Can you not fit enough in the feeders in the lot for a few days? Even if you had to start the massey, every other or third day would be huge. Then you would only be putting hours on one every day.

Would you believe I am going to say that's how we have always done it. Ha, with haylge and silage we always did 2x a day feeding. When we had finishers in the feedlot after the cows left it was like, wow, only have to feed 1x a day. I bet I could though, tough part is I like feeding them. Don't know what it is, but putting good feed each day is not labor.

@jonstevensmaplegrovefarms3754 In confinement hours on equipment are huge. I think grinding just enough for the day with the cows is smart to keep waste down. But with feeders, I'd be putting out as much as fits. If every 3 days, that's 1/3 the hours on the second tractor. They may run cheap, but they cost a ton to replace. I put around 45 mins on skidloader every morning feeding hay and silage, but evening chores are all manual. Push feed up by hand. Grind hay when I bed so only running 2nd tractor every 5th or 6th day.
