Everyone I personally know with a McLaren says they love it and haven't had any problems, but online people say they're a nightmare when it comes to fixing them. Overall, they seem like really awesome cars. Nice video!

Agreed. I love my 720s. People would report the bad before sharing the good. Most McLaren owners don’t use social media as much as other car owners.

I have a 720s spider and it’s awesome, i think there’s a lot of lies and false propaganda to try and degrade the cars for some reason but in fact they shit all over lambo and Ferrari

Great vid! As a Mclaren owner i can attest to everything you said. I think a lot of people make those vids as clickbait. Cupholders, cameras etc ....ill drive my Mercedes if i need that kind of creature comforts. The Macs are made to be ultra high performance cars and they do that VERY well!

Thank you for your review, I was confused with all the negative comments as well. Then I realized that most of the reviews are done by people that don’t own the car. They jump into the car for 2 hours and make comments. Everyone I know that owns a 720, including myself, don’t have issues with the negative comments because we live with the car. Thanks again.

Yeah I noticed that too. So far other than the random little errors that you have to deal with I like the car a lot. 99% of those errors go away with driving it consistently or leaving it on a battery maintainer

I have owned for McLaren 720 S spiders I must say, there are a lot of electrical quirks and also panel popping on the car. It's just a fact.

Saw something where someone explained that one thing you shoudl avoid with Mclarens is reving them when they're cold (repetitively) is likely to cause damage. All the other stuff seems to be small details for a car and people learning to know how the car works. Cupholders excepted....

I try not to rev any car when it’s cold. Yeah it definitely has a learning curve.

Everyone's experience is different. I love hearing people that have/had 720's with no issues. That wasn't my experience. I started with the 600lt, and loved it! Had it for about a year and decided to swap up to the 720s. In many ways I'm glad that I did. The 720 was SO fun, and the power difference was noticeable! Which is something I wasn't so sure would be the case before I owned them both. The first 6 months of the 720s was pure bliss. However after that, things went downhill for me. The ECU burned out, a day after I got it back from service. Of course the ECU was covered, but it took about 8 weeks maybe longer, to get a new one shipped over from the UK. The car drove even better after the ECU, but then started having suspension failures. Then the windows stopped working. All in the span of about 2 months. At that point, I gave up on it and sold it. Having said that and having owned 2 McLaren's... The pro's of a McLaren is that it's a great drivers car. Great value in terms of the speed you're getting at the $250k+ price range. Most people are probably cross shopping to Lamborghini and Ferrari, and the McLaren is faster. However, the con's of McLaren that I didn't take into consideration, and at that time didn't even know to take into consideration.. are the lack of "Brand". (And the reliability concerns are very, very real). And what I mean by that, is if you own a McLaren, you're experience with the dealership/service department is like owning a Honda Civic except one that will potentially give you a new headache every 90 days. Whenever you need to to come in for service, it's entirely on you to get your car there and figure out a way home. Again, with McLaren being my first venture in the supercar world, I thought nothing of it. However, I traded my daily driver (GWagon) in for a new Urus. And that's when my eyes were opened. Lamborghini has a "Brand". They've sent 3 drivers out to my house for various reasons. I left a spare key at the dealership to my wife's car. They needed another signature on the contract. I couldn't figure out a certain feature.. Each time.. No problem, someone came to my house and took care of the issue. Upcoming service appointments? You guessed it, someone will come drive my car to the dealership and drop it off when it's done. The experience has been NIGHT and DAY.. Mind you, it's a Urus, not a Huracan. So I'm leaving reliability concerns out of it. Though so far, no issues on the Urus. But I can say, I wished I started my relationship with Lamborghini earlier, and bought a Huracan instead of the 600lt back in the day. One last thing on the "Brand" as well. Lamborghini flew me out for a VIP weekend at the Daytona 24hr race. Private jet, beachfront condo, catered food, open bar, hot laps before the race, paddock passes during the race, urus shuttles during the race for exploring the grounds.... Something McLaren hadn't done. And doesn't do from what I've heard from various owners. There's a sense of community lacking at McLaren. And that really is a shame. TL;DR - I won't be buying another McLaren. I will be buying more Lamborghinis.

That’s a really good point. All my cars were purchased used so I haven’t been able to experience things like you have. I am with you though my 720 is going to get listed it’s just rough with how the market has dropped on them so I will most likely have it for awhile until the prices fluctuate back up a little. @@Busterburg yet another thing I didn’t touch on. The depreciation curve on McLaren is harsher than Ferrari or Lamborghini. I typically like to buy ‘The Weeknd Car’ used (but still under warranty). The reason I sold the 720 was because I felt like the value was gonna tank soon. Especially once they announce the new/refreshed 720S that’s coming out. Didn’t want to be left holding the bag after that announcement. I love McLaren and wish someone else would take over. Whether through an acquisition or just a change in leadership. The potential is there for sure! But they fall woefully short of what they could be! Also it would alleviate their never ending financial troubles. I liked owning the McLaren and loved how much less common they were to see out in the wild vs Lamborghini/Ferrari. But I eventually succumbed to the Italian seduction haha!

@@Busterburg I need a V10 or V12. I’ve learned that .3 seconds 0-60 just doesn’t matter as much as the sounds coming from a 10 or a 12. Unfortunately TTV8’s just don’t hold my interest. With 10s and 12s going the way of manual transmissions. I don’t want to miss out on them!

The prices keep getting lower so they are getting more and more attainable

Power seats: I just set memory 1 to be my far forward position for track, and 2 as my relax while sitting in the car position, and then push 1 or 2 until I have the spot I like in-between. Also, the controls are in a seat shape, so not that hard to figure out once you know them. For lack of glove box, the three areas (doors, center console) are plenty. This is basically a racecar after all. I love mine. I have over 15k miles on it after buying new. Definitely get the 360 park assist and lift for the easiest experience.

That’s is a great idea on the two settings and how you use them. I agree they are not bad once you figure out the buttons, they are just different than other brands.

My 720 has been the best car I’ve had so far. Only issue was with a company that installed some parts incorrectly. Other than that I like it better than my 600lt. Great video btw!

I am really enjoying mine. The small little annoying issues aside.

All I can say is that a friend of mine has ordered a brand new 720 Spider and the reverse already stopped working when unloading the car. Had to get it repaired and got it back like 2 months later. Other than that they‘re great (except for the gap dimensions), he had a 570GT, 600LT and the 720s and loved them all. Driving experience kn the 600LT was crazy

I have owned 4 of them. 720s, 620R, 765LT, and another 720s. I have driven the shit out of my cars and they have all been great. The only people that say bad things are internet little boys that have never owned one.

If I have mine for another month I am getting one. If you are going to tune or modify it there is no need they won’t cover anything.

Yes the glass above me on the 720 adds a few inches. It lets me have more leg room because I don’t have to recline back as far to fit my head.

Literally the only problem I have had with mine (2018 Luxury model) was there was an error that kept telling me to take it back to the dealer. I left it with the mechanics overnight and it was gone. Nothing else.

Yeah I always let mine sit a day or two before taking it.

It’s a race car built on a carbon tub. It doesn’t flex. Brakes are “harder” because they are real and not fly-by wire. The steering is hydraulic and best in business. Most people that complain about this car are used to buying “comfortable sports cars” and not true super cars. This is borderline hyper car level with its build and performance. I love driving mine and not had but one issue since I bought it (accumulators). Had the 765LT ones installed and zero issues after that. As you mentioned, being tall (I’m 6’2”) and wish I had the manual seats. If you keep the car plugged, you wouldn’t have any issues with CEL. The Lithium battery has a small processor attached to it that reads voltage and tells other systems what’s going on. If any of the sensors detect low voltage, they trip. Easy fix: turn the car off then back on. I daily mine and love it. It’s addicting and cannot see myself going back to a 911 after this. Traded a Huracan on my 720s and don’t regret it one bit. I wasn’t clear with my working on the carbon flexing. Or more precisely I didn’t articulate my full thought. I meant the tub is carbon and the panels are thin aluminum so the aluminum flex is and the tub doesn’t which causes shifting in the panels sometimes. At least that is what the dealer told me.

Buy it with a warranty so if it does need repaired then it will not cost anything. They are amazing cars.

The way I look at these types of cars are they all have issues as long as you minimize your risk like keeping a warranty and know what common issues are to make sure that is not a problem with the car you are trying to buy. You will have a good experience. Always get a PPI even if buying from a dealership. Then all you have to worry about is how you are going to enjoy the car.

Mine doesn’t have the carbon on the steering wheel so that doesn’t apply and I have leather so the alcantara issues also don’t apply. My interior is a little plain but quality it is good so far.

I had no problem with the 720s besides the quiet exhaust (Luxery Edition).The gas cover clip is flimsy. That's about it. Seat buttons are weird, but you don't need to touch them once they're set.

I think that they defend their favorite brand by putting down McLaren. I’ve had a bunch and they all have a few little bugs.

I want one after I sell the viper. Considering huracans are sitting above 200k for whatever reason and 720s are 220-230, I'd much rather the 720s all day. However, having it sit in the shop more than my garage is concerning

After a few small issues at the beginning I have ended up having no real issues with mine. I think as long as you get a PPI on it before buying it you will be fine.

criticisms that I see a lot are the carbon fiber on the steering wheel, the plastic or carbon fiber parts that surround the center screen, engine overheating and catching fire out of nowhere. They are not very reliable cars, especially compared to the Lamborghini of the time, like a Huracan.

The plastic around the center screen on mine is great no issues. I am actually really impressed with the cars ability to stay cool so far my Aventador was always running hot if you drive aggressively. The Huracan is amazing but I’m not sure it’s the Lamborghini you would compare this one too. I would probably say the 570 or the Atura now.

I've have 7000kms on my 720s and so far no issues. Had a few electronic issues like rear wing stuck open but easy reset by restarting the car. Not one single mechanical issue so far.

There is definitely a learning curve but once you get the hang of it it’s not very bad.

I love my 720s just hate how low it is almost gotta fall into it & definitely no storage space

It definitely is super low. Compared to other cars I have had I feel like it has more storage space than most others in its class.

The biggest complaint about this car is the sand that gets stuck in the doors. It's annoying ASF. All the other aspects you mentioned are nothing compared to this flawed aspect to the car.

I didn’t know they were outsourcing the panels. Glad to hear they went in-house. I think it will help out a lot

that let the electronics turn on before starting the engine, it's because the mclaren's engine turns the other way around, consequently, the rotation instead of pulling oil, expels it, so you should let the pumps turn on first

@antwonrichardson9324 I think you are on the right track with realizing it’s a mindset thing first . As far as advice on how to buy them I Iearned from a group called Exotic Car Hacks. They have a KZread channel too. Join that group and you will get the best information I have found on the right way to buy exotic cars.

I can relate to the break issue. It took me a while to get used to it on my 650s

I wasn’t sure at first. Used to R8 v10 on cc, and they are on or off! Now used to the 720, I find it more Linear and gradual, and actually, now I prefer it.

I love my 2021 720S. So far 7,000 mi & no problems. Panel gaps perfect. Just lucky?

my panel gaps are all perfect. If anything is off let the service dept know and they will adjust as needed. Simple fix.

Just get in it and drive one of the best cars in the world , look for the great things ,not minor faults , every thing has faults if you have the inclination to look hard enough !

I think that ad you pay more for a car your expectations should go up considering the price you are paying. There shouldn’t be things Kia has that a McLaren doesn’t unless it adds significant weight or a performance disadvantage

All the problems you stated are minor to me except I have two Mclaren and the CAM PHASER WENT SOUTH AND NOT EVEN 10,000 MILES. THE ENGINE HAS TO BE REMOVED TO FIX THE ISSUE. SHIT THING ! Now that i was driving ACURA NSX --- have ZERO problem.

I thought that at one point too. Change how you think and it’s in as far away as you think. I don’t think I got Brooks 720 but I don’t know who owned it before me.

I’m over 40 and I don’t think that luck has anything to do with it. I think it’s in your mindset and willingness to see opportunities that others miss due to a fixed mindset.

So far I don't think they are. I haven't had any major issues that make it stay at the dealer that would definitely have the ability to change my mind in a hurry. Thanks for watching and commenting.

I have always wanted a Aventador finally got one and I was underwhelmed by the looks and driving. The 720 on the other hand looks and drives amazing.

@@Busterburg IMO, 720S is about curves and being subdued inside. The steering wheel doesn't have a single button. Lambo, esp avandatore is about sharp angles and very aggressive interior. I believe 720 outperforms avandatore on track but the aura of avandatore is legendary. I would pick a svj over 720S anyday. Avandatore demands respect which i would give. My 720S is 2022, ludus blue, red caliprs, stitching and seat belts with carbon fiber spoiler and stealth wheels. What's your avandatore? PS my fantasy is to also have a lambo (used avandatore or new tecnica) and a Ferrari (488 GTS or 296 GTS) over the next 4 years. Idk if it is gonna happen though.

The SVJ is different than regular Aventadors. I would say you would have to compare the 765 to the SVJ. Next time I see PJ with @exoticcarhacks I will ask him which he likes better he has both.

@@Busterburg agree svj is very beautiful. My friend just got 2014 gray avandatore and i prefer mine over his but then again avandatore has a much bigger name. What color is yours?

These are all extremely minor inconveniences but the main issue with these is that they're known to break down which is unforgivable. And the fact that Andrew Tate has three of these to negate inevitable breakdowns says it all. I'll wait for the update video in 6 months to 1 year lol

Yeah I could see him doing that. He has mentioned how far away he lives from the dealership so that’s probably an extra annoyance for him too. Hopefully I have one of the “good” ones And it won’t break down.

@@Busterburg Fingers crossed man. Was hoping to pick up this or the 600lt mid next year but it seems breakdowns is part of the mclauren experience. So frustrating for such a beautiful car to have so many issues. Good luck though!

Aventadors same issue. Maybe a R8 or Huracan. Those are both reliable. My New NSX was amazing.

@@Natak222 the most important thing is to actually get them out and drive them. The ones with problems are the ones that sit in garages and don’t get driven. Besides the battery I recently replaced, the accumulators will need to be replaced in the near future, but none of these issues ever left me stranded and the car is amazing! Buy one and drive it and enjoy the hell out of it! 🏎️💨

They are way better than people make it sound. Yes, small things will go wrong, but you don't get stranded as long as you drive it. If it sits the battery goes and then you're in trouble. Also, it isn't a daily like a Porsche or such, not because the car won't do it (though the MP-4 was better in that respect) but because the dealerships won't turn them round in a day.

I had a first gen R8 gated v10. I loved it. I would totally get a new R8. The window is too low for me on a Huracan I am too tall.

I havent seen many people say anything bad - on the contrary its universally regarded as amazing and far better and more reliable than Italian competition - your negative title is gonna put a lot of people off of watching your video

Maybe the algorithm is putting different videos in front of me. But I get more video’s saying things like “5 things I hate about my McLaren 720s” or “why I sold my 720s”. It’s probably because when I was buying it I was looking for what to be cautious of when looking. Sorry if you didn’t like my title. Thanks for your comment though. Have a great day.

I have had cars with them not attached too. There are advantages and disadvantage to both ways. With the 720 if it’s in track mode you can keep your hands at 9 and 3 for most driving.

If you give a mf a 1 million dollars they would complain because they don't have 2,shit don't like it don't buy it make it simple

I remember when I first saw a 720 when they came out and saying one day I will have one. The day I got it was surreal for sure.
