I want one of these. It’s at the top of my list currently.

I just dont like this trend of no physical buttons. Its more of a hassle to have to fiddle with a screen if driving and higher risk for an accident

At a quick glance it almost looks like a Focus RS.

Subaru needs to fire whoever is making these decisions. This looks better and sportier than the more powerful WRX. Subaru is really taking 2 steps back.

Ozello Trail in Citrus County is the “Tail of the Gator” according to Car and Driver. Joe needs to drive the car there.

My son has the last gen Impreza and loves it, but it is pokey. Glad to see Subaru add some sporting flair. A turbo + manual would get a lot of attention.

Guys the sapphire blue pearl looks amazing in person. Saw it while my legacy 3.6r was getting serviced

I had to get a car a month ago I wanted this but it wasn't out yet so I looked at other hatchbacks and went with a 2019 golf gti and couldn't be any more happy. If the subi was turboed I'd definitely be sold on one after owning my first turboed car.

I ordered an RS a few months ago. It arrived at port last week, so I should be getting it soon. A sports car it is not, but that isnt its purpose. For me its going to be a great daily driver in the midwest where we see a good bit of snow. I bought it in ice silver to match my 22 BRZ. 😁

Another fun and well developed Subaru...2.5 flat 4 and AWD. 100% agree with you on engine...it does the trick, but boy would it be nice to have a turbo OR, just tweak this engine to get a bit more and it would be sweet! Love to see you smile and laugh Joe...it's a great sign that a car is winning and fun to drive!

Very nice looking hatch, I have the Toyota. We have had transmission issues with 2 Subarus we owned with less than 100000 miles. Do not think I could be talked into another one. However my bestie has had about 6 outbacks and loves them!

Still keeping my Impreza WRX hatchback. I constantly remind people that the original 2.5RS based on the GC platform was an EJ253 making 165bhp and about 160tq, and from 2002-2007 the 2.5RS was actually the base model in the Impreza lineup, so this is a step up from those (aside from no manual). If they have this the leftover 6-speed out of the VA WRX and the 2.4L engine from the BRZ, I’d go out and buy one. I think that would be a fantastic enthusiasts hatchback.

@@zergilli9719 I honestly like the car. My wife owns a 2012 Impreza Sport hatchback, and it’s a damn workhorse. I actually like the car, I would just like to see the gap between the RS and WRX be a little closer. I still believe the Kia Forte GT (GT2 package) is the best bang for the buck at $28k. 201bhp 1.6L Turbo that runs on regular, has a pretty good 7-speed dual clutch, really awesome tech and features, and gets 35/27mpg. For what it is, I’d buy one, but I’d keep my WRX hatchback.

@@zergilli9719 I’m just not a huge fan of the CVT, at least in my wife’s car. It’s not very engaging. Although it seems Subaru has a few different CVT’s, because the one in my buddies Forester is pretty responsive and quite good, and the WRX with the Sport CVT is actually quite fun! It just seems like certain models got a lackluster CVT.

@@RobertHarridge Subaru cvt is ok. I dont have too many complaints. The 2.0 152 hp is my main complaint over the CVT. The RS kind of fixes that.

As a BRZ owner who is looking for a commuter option, I’m with you on wanting the 2.4 and a better transmission in the RS.

Oasis blue pops great in the sun similar blue that was on the focus rs. Couple zonks I want to drop. One shouldve kept the manual. And secondly I want a real automatic transmission not a CVT. You cant have fun in a cvt

The WRX has had a cvt for a couple years now. Its actually quite good. Definitely not the Nissan CVT.

Paddle shifter on a cvt impresses me as much as a kid on his scooter cutting off the throttle and reopening the gas to pretend there's a real gear change.

I just got the Outback XT because of the Impreza RS. Killed any hopes I had of a turbo hatchback from Subaru. I guess they won in the end because I ended up getting upsold into the Outback, but at least I'm finally able to pass Corollas and Camrys on the road.

Would be awesome if I got it in this color. But, got a silver one yesterday!

I’d buy this in a heartbeat if it came in anything other than a CVT

Another popular car reviewer said that this is almost perfect for what it is, and the CVT does not take away from it, even though it would be a blockbuster WRX Jr for those that want the 6 Speed manual. Very well done, especially with the Oasis Blue here, or the Sapphire Blue Pearl which I would prefer.

The CVT has a solid chain instead of a belt and is said to be pretty good. The Toyotas and Hondas are the only other CVTs I would trust. But it sucks that Subaru claims they had poor sales for the manual, but only offered it in the base version, just like the Crosstrek. Hopefully, for next year, they should offer at least the Manual, maybe special order and some dealerships might want to bring some in if there is interest for it in their area. But what would be really good is to have the 228 HP BRZ 2.4L engine and 6 Speed Manual offered.

Wished they had an alternative to a cloth interior. It doesn’t have to be leather but at this price you’re either choosing awd and getting the Impreza or getting creature comforts in a Civic.

Really nice looking car. They did drop the ball on a few things like you mentioned. A nice hood scoop with a turbo and manual transmission would be perfect!

I have an 2021impreza and i like the old grill better. My car is the ice silver so i put the dame color auto tape on and it pops on the black grill.

I like it………like the blue color. I want a switch for auto start/stop so I can find it quick. Not on the touch screen.

For the price they asking the dash is looking quite cheap like something out of 2013 between the door panels looking cheap and the vents on the dash look they are from 1996 and the center part looks like it came from a 2010 ford focus! The exterior looks good though in that color but it definitely needs the hood scoop that’s what makes a Subaru a Subaru!! 🤣🤣

Utilize the 2.4 liter motor with the extra torque and horsepower and add an optional manual gearbox enough said.

This is such a good looking car! Really wish the WRX came in a hatch. I can already imagine an orange WRX hatchback, I'd trade in my new WRX immediately!

On the website, it says you can get a manual, but that might be for just the regular and not the rs?

Wish they gave it the sti sport treatment like they did to the levorg wagon in japan, I still like it bc I love Japanese hatchbacks

The only option you can put on this is an sti spoiler. They do have this car out fitted with full on sti parts that they did in 2023 tokyo auto salon beginning of this year but those parts are not options for the car just the spoiler

I like this Subaru but the cvt has to be swapped for a 6 speed manual and then you have my interest!

And that alone would wring a little bit more speed out of the car and provide a transmission that is not problematic from a reliability standpoint like the CVT. Not to mention that a manual would be a lot more fun. "Simulated gears"? Are you kidding me?

That's up 35 HP from the last RS. That's over 20%.

I wish he took time to talk about the HK audio. He spent more time about the door cupholder and random pieces of plastic that no one even notices or cares about. If you're doing a 2+ hour drive, you will absolutely care about the audio.

25 years later and the 2.5 liter makes a whopping 7 horsepower more. 🤔

Why do you need more than 182hp? Shoot im fine with 150hp as long as it was packing some torque. Hp is top speed related. But say you have 150hp and 300ft torque. You will easily have a better 0-60 than a 180hp/180ftlb torque. That will translate to more "fun"

@@Hallowsaw And what's the torque in the RS? I'm guessing below 200lb-ft, which means it's still a slug compared to the competition nowadays. My old 2007 Impreza has 173hp and 162lb-ft... 17 years ago.

@@marksphotoperry356 CVT doesn’t conclude shitbox! This CVT has launch gear so it won’t slip. And you get paddle shifters. Sure, I miss the manual, but this is still worth the money.

I got 22 impreza with CVT , is nice commuter car but if you look for any excitement CVT aint it

The CVT, one full second less to 60 compared to it's peers, and no knobs for the HVAC are deal-breakers for me. A shame as it seems like a solidly built car with a great suspension.

Even though this is basically fully loaded, $31k for this will be a bit of a hard pill to swallow for the average consumer.

The RS starts at under 29k. That is economy car money. The average car sale is nearly 50k, so IDK what you expect from a cheap car. It has the most power in class, has standard AWD and is very well equipped. IMO you are getting more for the money here than you will anywhere else.

It'll be less in 2-3 years.

They needed to tune the 2.4L i4 a little more aggressively to give it a 200 Hp/195 ft lb torque figure. I feel like it's still sluggish and underwhelming for the price. Maybe drop in a 2.0L Turbocharged Boxer engine with a mild hybrid system, so you can benefit in both mpg and power.

You can see the Mazda design ques . For those who don't know Toyota, Subaru and Mazda are working together with Yamaha. So expect some new designs and more power. Hate how Subaru is sticking those giant screens in the dash.

Still not worth $31k for a pretty basic 2.5L. Subaru has really done nothing new for years and they're slowly creeping the price up without improving the offering. I'd pay $26k max for this on the road.

Why do people care about the HVAC controls? I live in Florida and it is set it and forget it for me. I am not driving down the street constantly changing my temp setting.
