I like the redesign, the old Prius models look like a car that was a virtue signal on wheels, the new Prius looks like what cool cars of the future looked like in early 2000’s movies. I think they killed it with the redesign

I bought an ECO lithium Prius off show room floor Jan. 14, 2016 in Culpeper, VA, two weeks before they went on sale $24,000. I make 55-60 mpg and it will be my last car I turned 80 on May the Fourth. It was my 17th FWD car. My first FWD car was a SAAB 96 two stroke bought in Luxembourg April 1967 when I was at Bitburg AB. I drove to 10 countries 50,000 miles no oil changes. I had first SAAB 99 in U.S. in May 1969, bought in 73 SAAB 99 EMS drove 4,000 miles in Europe 2,000 in Britain/Scotland. Loved Saabs they were the safest best technology at the time. I bought my first Prius in Feb. 2012 loved it 45-50 mpg. I had driven a million miles in 16 FWD cars only. The weight of hybrid battery in rear made it more stable on winding roads in Virginia. However, the 2016 Prius stunned me when I test drove it around a slalom like road around Culpeper. I told the salesman I had driven only FWD cars but none had an independent rear suspension which makes it handle like a sports car. The new Prius is a beauty but when driving you don’t see that. Road & Track’s first review said they liked the new Prius but not its design. I have a photo of it next to a Honda CRX coupe fastback they looked like twins mine the bigger one. The drag CX was .25 lower than every car. The race cars have bigger engine fronts. The new Prius and Teslas may be .24? No radiator more streamlined. The new Prius suspension may make it sportier but the extra 100 HP I don’t need around here. My community has rolling hill roads for my last two miles and my battery always is fully charged when I get home. I have no electric charging don’t want it. Early Primes didn’t have Regen braking charging. I guess it has it now. In 1968, I drove my 46 HP SAAB around nearby Nurburgring and passed all the seniors driving their Mercedes. On autobahn few cars passed me. Porsches sent to US. In 1973 I took my 110 HP Saab to Nurburgring and was told it was closed they were testing V-6 racing Ford’s. I had four disc brakes but would have probably wrecked. Only BMW 2002 turbo was more powerful 4 Cylinder in US. Toyota makes great cars I visited Camry factory near my birthplace Lexington, Kentucky. I road tested the new Camry I liked it but too big. My son has a 2012 Prius in Florida. My daughter lives near me and waited for a month supply chain from Japan for a Corolla with 16 “ mag wheels,.My 2004 Corolla had only 141,000 when hit from behind at a light. She had 225,000 on her old engine Corolla. I had two deer the same week hit my right front almost totaled new Prius. Toyota’s never die they just get wrecked. My son’s 4 dr. Yaris rear right was totaled by a semi trailer truck. You all drive safely.

I honestly think the manual sun roof and passenger seat are the way to go. Easy, simple, and less things to break. More things nowadays that move in a mechanical way oughta be mechanically operated. Not electronically controlled and operated. Although some things are nice being electric like windows lol. (Who misses crank windows?) haha! But still when it comes to seats and anything big I think simple is better. I love this new design to the Prius, I’m hoping to maybe be able to get one someday!

We've been on the waiting list since last June. We ordered a 22 Prime and were told it would land this spring. Now, we've been told; 22's are no more so we have to get a 23. Which turns out to be a good thing. However, last week they told us not to expect the car until November of this year. A full 17 months ! Oh, and it likely will be a 24 model. This is all costing us money. Firstly, the original $ 10,000 trade in offer is no longer valid and we will get thousands less (2013 Prius C), for it. On top of that, the 23 is more expensive than the 22 as the 24 will be more than the 23. Then, where we live we'd get a $ 6,500 rebate. Sadly, we may end up canceling the order.

The new Prime is great, but it is impossible to find. Even if you find one, they are asking for 10-15K above sticker. That's Tesla Model 3 Performance territory. I bought my Prius Prime new in 2019. After incentives, discount and tax credit, I paid 22K out the door. Bottom line - the Prime is a great deal at or below msrp. At the current prices and availability- it's pointless to even consider it.

Nice but all that glass on the top is a no for me. What is it with car makers making glass "panoramic sunroofs" go all the way from front to back? It gets hot up there and is not practical. It is probably great for your passengers or if you are an Uber driver but I drive by myself 99% of the time so I don't see the benefit for the driver. If they make it without that sunroof I would get this car but I just bought the new black beauty with black rims awesome 2023 Mazda CX-50 and I love sitting up higher and going more for crossover/small SUV like many folks.

I drove a friend’s Prius back around 2003…at the time I though it was the worst pile of junk I had driven. Just getting it from park into gear was confusing. The car was snail like as far acceleration and the handling was a joke…not to mention the car was uglier than a VW “Thing”. But I have watched your review and a couple of others, and I like this car very much. The looks, features and performance/mileage are all acceptable. I’ll hang on to my Corvette for spirited driving, but I would consider one of these given the price of gas in California. Once again, a very informative review, thanks Joe!

Can u talk about interior size a bit more. it looked like your head was close to the roof of the car. I suppose that might be ok for you but if u could let us know how tall u are so we could get an idea how we might fit in the car. i realize we need to sit in it ourselves, but that little bit of info might entice us tall people to actually go in delership to try. At this point, i am very reluctent to even go in because the headspace doesn't look sufficient for taller people
