You kinda glossed over the big news, that Toyota will be offering a performance suspension and Brembo brakes, making these a little more track ready. Also, they will now be offering the adaptive cruise control with the manual trans, not just the auto.

My 2013 BRZ is so great, I drove it from Fairfax Virginia to San Jose California in 4 days. It was summer so I took the north route through Wyoming. Driving over 100 mph for long stretches in the Nevada desert was a lifetime experience! The car still kicks ass to this day. Any new '86 variant gets my approval based on this pedigree.

In California I've driven it way less since my job isn't driving to different clients all day, but I've had a few chances to take mountain roads up to Pleasanton to really enjoy it. The BRZ being skinnier than most cars really helps in an urban area too!

I love how for '24 there's a factory installed performance package with ZF Sachs Dampers, front and rear Brembo calipers, for only $1,500 extra on the premium model, and $2,000 on the base model (since they have to upgrade the base 17-in wheels to the premium 18-in wheels to fit the brembos). So if you get the base, with the performance package, you also get the upgraded black 18 in wheels with the PS4 tires for only $2K. That is a massive steal 👍

As cars continue to get an absurd amount of horsepower increases, the driving experience is lost with too much power. People like to hate on it, but it is really an enjoyable, nimble little car. People should get behind the wheel of it to really see what this car is all about. It is a big improvement design wise and on the inside, and they upgraded the powertrain just a tiny bit which from what I heard adds a big difference. With some simple modifications that are reversible, you can probably get close to 250 hp with this.

In my 20's back in the UK, I was a Ford bloke. I had 3 RS2000's and 1 RS1600i. I grew up driving a manual gearbox and the throttle blip (or toe and heel) was the norm. My last Rs 2000 was bored out to 2.1 litre and had a nitrous system on it. I didn't put it on but the bloke who built the car did. I't was running around 175 bhp on carburettors but would gain another 50 at the flip of the switch,The Rs1600i was fwd so I adapted to the left footing breaking technique to avoid oversteer. I move here in 2000. Went through several mundane motors as I was married and we had kids. I now find myself at 57 with two grown children, seperated and doing my own thing. I found a minty genesis coupe bk2 with only 24000 miles on it. I bought it as soon as found it. I wanted a manual but as I let me ex borrow my motor as she doesn't have one this one with the 7sp auto was the better bet. Besides, all of my research led me to believe that the manual gearbox in the genesis was suspect. My genny is just coming up to 30k. I'm hoping it's my last motor but if something goes wrong, I'll be looking into the gr86 and brz. I just can't stand FWD motors.

People don’t buy cars for driving experience anymore . The people that do buy Camaros and challengers . The fact is that most people are either buying reliable grocery getters , or buying a bmw just for the badge .

Truer words were never spoken. It is more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow. Cornering speeds in this car that will have you laughing out loud with enjoyment would feel like parking lot speeds in a GT3 RS.

I was just curious, did you get Paint Protection Film put on your vehicle? I should be getting my GR86 in about two weeks and i still have to sit down with the salesman and talk packages etc for the car. Paint Protection Film is one of the options i know he will wanna ask me about, but i don't really know if it's worth the price.

I would definitely get the extra coating on the paint. I live in Florida and I wish that I had done extra coating on mine. You don’t have to get it done by the dealer . I would compare pricing.

This car doesn't really need more power, it's more than enough for the street, I know because I have one. I've driven the 3.0 Supra and it was impossible to put down all it's power on the street. Also, being naturally aspirated the throttle response is great, but not so in the Supra where I always felt a delay with that bloody turbo, very frustrating. I do wish the sound system was better though, and please can Toyota fix that bloody door rattle...

I live in the Tampa area, and that is also my favorite twisty road around!! It is HARD to find good roads here. Other favorites include: Whitaker Rd and Newberger Rd, both in Lutz, and Old Dade City Rd -> Rockridge Rd north of Lakeland (those would be a far drive for you, though). As I was watching I was like, that looks like MY favorite Rd. Then I was like, WAIT A MINUTE! haha

I would buy one tomorrow… except for the motor. I have an FRS with a dead motor at 70K. Owned it since new. Yes it was a 13 with the valve spring recall. Still. Inexcusable for a motor- especially a Japanese motor- to be dead at 70K. Toyota/Subaru you’ve lost a customer. Now I’m looking at Acura Integra. I don’t want an Acura Integra. I want a BRZ/GR86. But the reliability is such a question mark.
