VB gang lol but people need to stop hating on the '22 WRX until they see it in person because it looks a lot better in person than in pictures. I was the same person saying "the VB wrx looks ugly how could they ruin their iconic car". than a couple months later saw it in person and ended up taking home a VB WRX and couldn't bee happier with it.

The VB is an overall better car than the sti and stock to stock loses in a race too. So big win for the best WRX ever made.

Idk not convinced with the vb yet stock for stock. You have to spend a lot of money paint matching just for it to look good. And who keeps their wrx/sti stock anyway. Coilovers and bolt ons va>vb also another thing to mention is that the vb doesn’t come with brembos so that’s just another thing you have to dump money into just saying I don’t think the vb competes with past generation stis for that reason alone

@@Yawngodd I'll start with your first point. Paint matching is subjective. I personally don't find the need to have to do that. Car looks fine as is. Coilovers and bolt on. I'd give it to the VB. If we're talking performance, out the box the VB utilizes 12psi of boost and the rhe VA sti uses 20psi. That means the syi needs 8 more psi to make the additional 30 horsepower to the crank. VB has more potential out the box so if we're talking modded the VB wins as well. Car and driver magazine compared the two in braking distance and stock to stock the VB out braked the sti from 70mph to 0mph. So under normal driving the VB brakes better. In track conditions obviously the brembos would outperform stock but the majority of people won't be tracking it.

@@Yawngodd yea I think the paint matching looks worse. You can still see the contours of the cladding, so it just looks bad. My VB with just a jb4 tuner, intake, and tmic is running sub 5 second 0-60 and sub 13 quarter mile. Estimate about 320whp running 21psi.

I've been a Subaru fan for much of my life. This is the best WRX ever made. Looks are not required bc that's subjective. I think it looks great. Judy needs a spoiler and some minor touches. Doesn't even need color matched. That looks good. But so would gloss black. Wait until you drive one with a Cobb stage 1 map. It's night and day. And already and excellent car. It's so much more planted and composed. It's more flat in all corners. It's better in every way. I have premium sound, 11 speaker HK with and 8" sub Firing at the rear windows. This ceates a bandpass box effect but even better bc it's hitting in the cabin and travelling to you. It sounds great.and I've been doing car audio for 20 years. First car stock audio system that I cod keep stock. Looks are subjective. At first I felt the same. Then I saw it in person. Looks much better. Cladding is growing on me. I just wish is was glossy black Instead of matte dark grey. It will outperform on the track. It's the superior vehicle. For those talking about mods. If you go there VB wi beat you mod for mod in WRX and especially STI. I know from experience. VB is going to break some hearts when we really unlock tuning and figure out how much it can handle. Already hurts feelings on a mountain road.

@@ZibrayMusic stock VA STI usually runs 16psi stock, not 20. The VA Wrx runs around 20 I believe.

i went from a 2017 sti stock to a 2022 wrx stock and I am enjoying the new comforts of the wrx as well as the early torque way more. The sti was fun when you were revving it up boosting around at 4k+ rpm but the new wrx feels fun under 4k rpm. Sti was def more planted in a corner but im just skrrtin around town stock having fun. To each their own i guess, both are fun cars.

@@wescooper2961so did you take it off? It seems to be, as you get older, it’s only acceptable to run a wing if it’s functional and the car is fast enough to need it. That, and the car is not a daily. A wing is something that’s only needed in certain situations and is always just for show outside of those uses.

I haven't driven a 2022 WRX, but I'm pretty sure it is a great ride. My 2020 STI is a pure mechanical driving experience. I just purchased it in January of this year from Escondido Carmax. Only 9,421K on it. Subies forever guys and gals.

your sti may have all fancy lsd in front and rear and dccd in center that we dont have but it comes down to driver, if i better driver than you i will beat you in my vb. i have proof, search "initial d ae85 vs silvia race", in that is good driver takumi with ae86 with lsd just like sti and his friend itsuki buy ae85 which is like wrx without lsd. but guess what, you put the good driver takumi in the ae85 and he still beat a car, silvia, in a race. that show me it is more about driver and if i get good will easily beat sti, evo, gr corolla, gtr. as long as we put good driver in vb it can easily beat any car as shown by that race.

I've owned a VA STI and still own a VB WRX. There are pluses and minuses to both and it really depends on your use case. There are a bunch of things I miss on the STI but there are things I love about the VB. You can't go wrong either way.

Can someone please give some advice? And hopefully unbiased lol. I am in the market for a new '23 WRX manual (not sure on trim, probably premium), but my friends are all telling me it is not a good car because of looks (resale value) and the fact that it's a newer engine (more expensive parts and not tested/more likely to have problems) compared to an older car with more tried and true hardware and a better chassis. They are all saying I should find a low mileage '21 STI as it was the last year made and has better chassis/engine. I really don't want to use an old STI that somebody (most likely) modded/tuned tf out of it or just drove it very hard, and that is my biggest concern. Any thoughts on new '23 WRX vs '21 WRX STI would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I had had a va STI base and currently on a VB limited. VB feels like I’m driving my VA STI as a daily. The shifter isn’t as good but everything else feels familiar. The fa24 how ever is the biggest improvement by far. And the interior I think is better on the VB chassis.

VB goes IN on the VA. Got the white 22 wrx and I already burned an sti, modded out G35, and an accord sport. Absolutely love it so far! Can't wait to get my jb4 and exhaust

I'm gonna be biased here but VB all the way. It is my first WRX ever, but after driving a couple VA WRXs (both stock), I wasn't too impressed with it. Once you get over the looks of the VB it's actually a really good car to drive. Feels much more refined and the stock tune is quite decent. 👌

@@joogullae3456 me too. The VA gen always looked like a Corolla to me. The VB is unique and aggressive. They nailed the front end and I like the black flares for bombing down gravel roads to prevent rock chips.

I had a VA Series White STI that had full COBB Tuning/Perrin/Grimmspeed/Mishimoto etc. bolt ons, tune and now have a VB WRX in magnetite grey . Just picked up the COBB access port and looking at exhausts etc. Stock to stock- the VB WRX is a significantly better ride. Just need to build her out and def upgrade the rotors/pads. Obviously, my STI made way more power- but, I am confident the new WRX will surpass!

Which platform has more potential stock? Mod for mod? VB all day. I've driven both, can GC GD as my cars. VB is the best. Looks better in person. Can be made to look different if that's what you really want. Don't sleep on the best WRX to date.

Every single VB I have raced loses by a few car lengths at least and I haven't even tried dialing back the center diff yet for a proper drag😂. Stock vs stock there is no comparison. Sti handles better, is faster, sounds better, is more comfortable inside and looks way better.

It’s a way better daily. It rides better, is quieter, seats are better, and the engine has a flatter torque curve and better more predicable tuning down low when driving in traffic.

I've always viewed the WRX as an econobox that had a rally car bolted to it, and I think the VB is the best version of that so far. Everyone is raving about how much better the engine tune is, and that's true (for dailying, it's nice having torque when you ask for it), but the traction is insane with all of the chassis and suspension improvements they've made. In a straight line I would expect to fall behind an STI, and maybe even on a dry track, but I don't think the cars would be especially close throwing them around in the rain or on snow/gravel.

This is funny people comparing the STi to the 22 to 24 WRX. I have a 04 WRX Wagon and at 224 hp to the crank when it was stock, it runs a 14-second quarter mile, and you mean to tell me the 22 WRX has 270 hp to the crank and still only runs a 14-quarter mile SMDH, now my 18 STi runs a 13 quarter mile stock, and we all know if they brought back the STi the hp is going to more than 350hp, adjustable drivetrain, Brembo as always, and much much more. Now don't me wrong I like all WRX/WRX Sti, just waiting for the STi to come back.

Need someone to make an transparent trunk lip so I can install LED lights all the way through the trunk like some Night Rider shit

2021 stock STI: 310 hp/290 tq MSRP = $37,245 2023 base stock WRX: 271 hp/258 tq MSRP = $29,605 If you put $5k into power mods, you’re still paying less than the STI MSRP and surpassing stock power. Value wise, you got more power per dollar from a stock VB off the lot than you did with a stock STI off the lot.

Then add money for diffs, brakes, suspension, (maybe trans if going that far) and you will never have steering on par with the STI. The VB WRX is a good car, that can make cheap power, but let's not romance it here.

Stock for stock, since they're similarly priced it's fair to compare the STI and VB WRX TR. VB WRX TR comes with brembo brakes, 19inch rims, stiffer suspension, and Recaro seats. With just a COBB accessport and dyno / OTS tunes, you can achieve at least 270whp, if not more!

Since we are swapping strengths and weaknesses, the STI weakness is its engine while the VB WRX strength is its engine. The STI strength is its transmission while the VB WRX weakness is its weakness. To be fair, if you state the VB WRX needs to get an STI swap to match its steering and handling, then wouldn't it be fair to swap the engines since the VB WRX has proven that it's engine produces more power and retains it's reliability better than the STI? To engine swap would be similarly priced to a transmission swap. All in all, they're both great cars but it would be too much romancing to say one is better than the other. Each has their pros and cons.

15-17 VA front bumper is definitely a lot blander compared to 18+ VA (18+ facelift is miles better with the sharper aggressive smaller grill, better bezel shape than the ugly round 15-17 ones). VB is aggressive but I still don’t like how small the headlights are and big the grill is, and the bezels and middle plastic part all connected on the bottom. I hate the VB’s stock but I love your guys VB and Subimods a lot.

VA-better front and rear bumpers IMO. VB body is better in between, albeit the fenders flares need to be paint matched. VB better chassis/engine, only issue with engine is how low the rpm is. Long term issue will be the lack of more sti transmissions being made in the thousands. Swaps are going to get more expensive down the road. Interior is better besides the dash right of the cluster. Hate the big screen. Overall it’s a good car that being carrier above the VA by the engine, which is what everyone was banking on really. Wouldn’t be surprised if they do another s20 something number with actual sti bits and sell it for the moon.

Depends on your endgame. If you care about wings and other cosmetics then sure VB is nice but if you care about real power builds then VA. Also depends if you live in a state that hates cars modded or not too. Either direction you can drop 30k on mods with entirely different outcomes.

Look at them side by side. They look nothing alike. The Honda has huge tail lights that have a different shape and are tilted. The ‘22 WRX and BRZ have smaller tails with the magma effect and they’re positioned differently.
