Wife went in for an oil change on a 19’ Rav and came home with this instead.. one side note about 3rd row. While tight, they do recline! Being able to put the back lower made a huge difference for me when testing it out. Wouldn’t wanna sit for a far drive like that. But it does the job for small adult , under 6ft.

Hey dude, love your reviews but I have suggestion. In most of the reviews, you show a frame of the front then you might show the profile then you might show the quarter panel area then you might show the rear. These are all portions shown in different frames but I can’t can’t see a full walk around of the vehicle to see how it looks all together. It’s hard to tell how the vehicle truly looks when you can’t see it all at once. I would suggest that first you take us around the vehicle and show us the looks so we can see what angle look good and what angles don’t. Then, you can go back to the close up shots and start reviewing the different portions like you normally would. That would be great dude. Thanks.

Joe, my family needs a suv. We need the reliability of a Toyota, the third row space of a suburban, the gas mileage of a hybrid. I have two big (140lb) American bulldogs, wife, two little girls(2 and5) and a lot of camping gear. We are sick of taking two cars (Corolla and altima) just to take everyone camping or on trips. Love the sequoia because of the rear hatch window that rolls down but hate the gas mileage. Which suv do you think would be right for our family? Thanks!

Hi Joe, about the prop-rod zonk, I think prop-rod or gas strut should not be a matter of zonk of their own. Rather how much do they help opening the hood, are they in front of you to reach some frequently touched areas under the hood etc. In most cases a prop rod has two different spots to support the hood. One is for normal check ups and the other let's you open the hood higher so that you can reach at the back and lower sections of the engine bay. So, in a way prop rod allow you to open your hood in two stages. Gas struts on the other hand does not have that kind of flexibility but they can easily open to a decent height without even needing two stages even though this is not true for all of them. So, practicality and functionality should be the real criteria for evaluating the prop-rods or gas struts.

*Agree to Disagree Zonk List:* 1. Prop rod on a higher-end vehicle (it's probably a manufacturing time-saver, but still...) 2. Gloss black section on the lower part of the steering wheel (I drive a Camry as a second vehicle, and I know I'm going to break my fingers one day when I forget that there's no cutout there... C'mon, Man!!) 3. Rear window wiper (I agree that the placement should be on the upper part of the window, but I never gave it a thought until your review of the GMC vehicles 👍👍) 4. Minimal third-row seating room (My reason for consideration of the Highlander as a replacement for the Camry... bummer)

Definitely “zonk” on the prop rod. Silly on a Limited Highlander. I even had one on my 2019 Mustang GT, but I installed lifters. Likely the Highlander does not have the aftermarket to offer any. Sad.

Now that's my future car, mom!!! 😂👍🏻 I'd probably change out the exterior color to a blue, get the 2nd row bench seat, and that 12 inch display. Idk about the interior color tho. I'm in between full black and beige. The interior is phenomenal, for a Highlander. And that's my dream Highlander 😂👍🏻 And for context, I'm a 19-year-old broke University student. Buying this type of car is going to take me a while 😂😭 Great vid, Joe!

Hi, I just bought a new 2020 Toyota Highlander Hybrid XLE last night from Heritage Toyota Owings Mills in Garrison, MD. Although I did test drive it, including on the highway before purchasing, I never made it above 70 mph on the test drive. On my way home after the dealership closed, I was on the highway going over 70 mph and this hissing, whistling noise developed right from the driver's side window that was driving me crazy. It wouldn't happen if I was going below 55 and would happen intermittently when I was going between 55 and 70. I triple checked that all the windows were fully closed fully and opened and closed the doors to ensure they were completely shut but the hissing and whistling continued when I would hit 70. The only additional option I have on the car is all-weather mats, no door edge guards, and no crossbars or anything else. I love the car but hope this problem gets fixed ASAP or else it'll drive me insane. Put the volume on max, cuz the recording is from a cell phone. The KZread video link is below. I already took it to one dealer who were able to reproduce the whistling sound but said there was nothing they could find wrong to fix to make it better. Any suggestions on what I can do because I don't think I can go on with this problem long term. Thanks, Anan kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZH11qKt_mJScl9o.html

Hi Anan! I am so sorry to hear about that issue. I am wondering if you have a problem with the wether stripping. I would call Toyota directly and let them know of the frustration that you are having at the delaership.

@@RaitisRides thanks for the reply! The dealership said they checked the weather stripping and didn't find a problem there. I'm just scared I'm going to be told there's nothing else that can be done, and that I just have to live with it, which isn't really acceptable to me for an expensive new car.

Prop rods should always be zonked. I was pleasantly surprised to see the Palisade had hood struts. So much better. You don't even realize how much until you don't have to prop your hood.

The previous generation of the Highlander was definitely long-in-the-tooth. Even Toyota, a conservative brand that typically resists updating their vehicles, had to do something to compete with the newer designs from competitors such as the Telluride, Palisade, Atlas, Ascent, Explorer, etc. So what did they do? Apart from offering a hybrid version, a significant feature, and freshening the interior, not much. Though the length of the 2020 model has been increased from 192.5" to 195", it hasn't made much difference in terms of interior space. And that's especially the case in terms of third row accommodations. With 27.7" of legroom in the back row, the Highlander ranks at the very bottom of ALL midsize crossovers. That's 2" less than the infamously cramped Mazda CX-9. Of course, few if any midsize crossovers offer truly generous third row room. But the KIA Sorento (a full 6" shorter than the Highlander) has 31.7" of legroom, a full 4" more than the Toyota. Of course third row accommodations may not be a high priority for many customers. But if passenger capacity is important, it's worth keeping in mind that the Highlander is essentially a 4-5 passenger vehicle.
