"Only" 12 euros is not worth it IMO. In Italy you can get a good hot chocolate for less than 5. You're paying for the location there, which is beautiful, I won't deny that. But if I'm paying 12 euros that better be straight out of Willy Wonka's Factory.

I agree! My the croissants in my supermarket are supplied by a very good baker, and surpassed most if not all of the croissants I've had in paris, costing a whopping 50ct. Sometimes you just get lucky :p

Food shouldn't have to be costed by money- it's what we pay for cuz people are the ones making it for us to eat, and it's what they're profiting of. Food is made by earth's natural resources. Animals, plants, seafood, etc. If food didn't have a price we would've still had something to eat without the use of money.

Parisians are extremely rude. I went for a class trip, and was completely turned off just having to walk through the airport. Imagine being 16, just stepping off the terminal, and having 10 different French people yell at you in French. Then they lost my bag and yelled at me for it. People run into you on the street. Don’t expect a sorry or an excuse me, not gonna happen. You better be smaller than a US 0 if you don’t want everyone rolling their eyes at you in disgust just walking into a store. You couldn’t pay me to go there again.

BTW you can make Angelina's Hot Choclate at home by just putting 2 parts chopped bittersweet chocolate, 1 part cream and 1 part milk in a pot and melting it together. But I normally make it 1 part chocolate 1 part cream and 1 part milk. It's a little lighter and I find it easier to drink.

In France you get some Ovaltine for 3€ and Bourbon whipped cream for 2€. That alone makes some delicious guilty pleasure for my lactose intolerant ass and I’m fine with it. If you really want to see it, stay for a couple of days to see the main attractions like Eiffel tower, the Louvre etc, but then go visit the country side. I personally recommend to visit "les châteaux de la loire". But there is so many beautiful things to see.

Well, I don’t know a lot about the origin. But I do know that we have cocoa bean trees in Haiti because I’ve been sent some from my grandma. It’s the only way we can make choclat here. So I guess all in all I don’t really care that much about the origin haha.

I'm french and from paris, let me tell you that both places you went to are made for tourists and are really overpriced (but everything is overpriced in paris) If you want a good hot chocolate just buy milk and a good dark chocolate tablet made for pâtisseries in any supermarket, and just melt the chocolate in the milk on your stove on low heat (you can add sugar to taste) it'll cost you a fifth of the price for a big mug and buy some croissant at the boulangerie, fancy cafe have the worst ones bc they don'tmake those the day they sell it, a fresh one will taste better

Hot Chocolate and drinking chocolate are different. Hot chocolate is made with equal parts milk and/or cream. It has a lighter more fluffy mouthfeel, and is thinner in consistency. It’s also very sweet. Drinking chocolate is literally melted chocolate that is dense, and velvety with more complex flavors. It can be served bittersweet if that’s what you prefer. It usually has very little to no milk or cream, but is almost always topped with whipped cream that’s folded in. Drinking chocolate is the most popular in Europe. I prefer drinking chocolate. It’s very rich, and so delicious!

So I’m told by a French chocolatier, however I’ve eaten at the main restaurant a couple of times, soup to nuts, and it’s the experience that is lovely. Also, Angelina has a cafe in the Louvre; the chestnut gelato was delish. I had a yummy hot chocolate in Venice last December that was one of the best and it was stupid expensive, but the service was out of sight. If you stay somewhere with a kitchen you can eat at home and splurge where it counts.

That first croissant looked like a war crime. 😭

Fun fact: Angelina’s was Coco Chanel’s favourite cafe ❤

My immediate response was "No. Im not spending $20 on hot chocolate." 😂 but then again im in a different tax bracket 😂.

You all are taking that comment WAY too seriously. I'm in the "I'm not about to spend $20 on hot chocolate, no matter how much money I make" tax bracket. Especially considering I grew up eating sleep for dinner at times, I don't think a drink I can make myself is worth flying somewhere and spending 5x the amount.

I went to Angelina, the hot chocolate was AMAZING! So worth it! Would definitely go there again. Will definitely try Carette next time. It sounds amazing!

The price for hot chocolate is almost on par with many sit down / full service cafes in the US and it is definitely worth it. Most others try to copy Angelina or use it as a standard to make it at home. It’s definitely worth trying once if you are in Paris. I'm from Seville, a city in Spain, and I can find good thick chocolate with churros in the center for very cheap. I'm not wasting my money for it just being Paris xdd

@@muhammedahmed3291 I don't know in other cities, but here in Seville, in the cafetería called "la Centuria"! It's in Las Setas (Metropol Parasol). I recommend you to try both normal churros (churros / porras) and potato churros (churros de patata), and ofc with the hot chocolate. And if you feel like having ice cream, go to "heladería Rayas", it's around that same area. And I recommend you to try the turrón ice cream. Turrón is a popular Spanish Christmas dessert and the ice cream of it is the best!

For reference: $15 AUD is about $9.50 USD, and $20 AUD is about $12.67 USD

i went to carett (idk how to spell it soz) a couple days ago on holiday and it is DELICIOUS i got a hot chocolate and a macaron and it’s rly good bcs the hot chocolate is kinda like refillable. it comes in a teapot kinda thing so u get multiple hot chocs in 1. and they give u LOTS of cream (something i love abt europe is that they ALWAYS give lots of whipped cream). i also got a choc macaron which was delicious. Def recommend if you go to Paris!

I went to the first restaurant when I went to Paris and the hot chocolate was soooo good.

I was at the Angelina place in Paris myself and also .Also I was at an old cafe in Paris too,where famous writers went to dine there.They however had a delicious hot chocolate so sweet and thick.I loved it.

Yeah that's how conversion rates work. I hear ppl saying how much stuff in English and automatically multiply it by 10 to get an approximate price.

Was in Carette and it tasted like the chocolate you get for 1€ in the school vending machine. :) not even kidding, my friends said the same.

Carette was garbage years ago and places in Europe that look like palaces that are old institutions are tourist traps that are also not very good at all.

I went to paris on holiday and it was nice i also went to angelina’s i liked the hot chocolate and the food was good i went on my birthday and i loved it i want to go to paris again because all the amazing places and food in paris is just magnificent if you are interested in good food, museums like to visit the mona lisa or to explore the wonders of France then i recommend you visit i miss it so much and i really miss the good food, fresh air and even when it rained it was amazing the eiffel tower was incredible with a great view! So overall i love France and paris and would just love to visit again! 🥐🥖🇫🇷

Idk can’t people save up and buy what they want? Maybe it’s nice to sit in a cafe. Everyone is different. One isn’t better than another. It also sounds like a one time thing. If your already in another country, why not enjoy and visit

The big difference is in currency’s. She was paying in AUD dollars. Which means it’s the exact same pice as you’d pay in USD but it just feels more expensive coz it’s labelled with a larger number. For example, your 6 dollar Starbucks hot chocolate would actually cost 9 dollars, and 21 cents for Australians

12 euros for a hot chocolate is just crazy 😮 here in Germany is the croissant and hot chocolate together about 4 euros 😅😂

Just to say in Hyatt you can a very thick hot chocolate drink that you even have to use a spoon to drink and it is made by original chocolate and is cheaper than the one you drank at least in India where I live
