Or you could just spend $15 more dollars and have two games with increased resolution, multiplayer servers, all additional DLC content included with more easy access to online servers to join. Or you could just still own the original game and not buy it or you could just own it on PC with mods included and not buy it or you could just own it on xbox one backwards compatible and not buy it or you could just not buy it. Either way it's still two games for $35 with 100s of hours of content.

Didn't do it on the PS2 version probably due to hardware issues. But considering the PSP was able to do it with Elite squadron, the world may never know the true reason why they weren't able to make it work.

In the console versions of the original game, the enemy ai actually did use heroes and villains. Its a shame that people won't be able to experience that with this new version. Also, I died a little inside when I heard the messed up beeping sound at the beginning of the video. Why does every rerelease of a game have to mess up something? That beeping sound was one of the coolest things about BF1.

From what I’ve heard this is using the Xbox version as it’s base. It’s great to hear that it was functional back in the day but looks like aspyr cut corners and didn’t do it cause on edition didn’t see it. Also yes as a person who grew up playing the first one more than the second game I died inside when I heard they changed the loading screen beeping

@@ultimis3658 Yep, they're made mainly for online. Have been for over decade for that game at this point! Including modded maps with plenty and plenty of vehicles, so everyone gets one instead of sat around waiting.

One annoying bug I hate right now is I go to crouch on BF2 and then I roll despite having roll binded somewhere else.

Fun fact: Aspyr gave up on the Tomb Raider 1-3 Remasters at start, basically giving away the project, the chance at development for skilled modders who couldn't wait to get payment for the modding of their beloved childhood games they'd continue to mod anyway lol. Aspyr man... They are something else 😂

They used the exact same sound files for literally just about everything else… and yet decided to change the one thing that was most beautiful: *the Battlefront I loading sound.*

This video pops up in my reccomended just as I was checking the reviews of the collection for Xbox. Seems they were right with their concerns.

The bf 1 loading screen music is just tragic. Is still have the loading screen music play in my head when I sleep at night it never gets old… they had 1 job…

i think i won't miss out on much considering im playing the ogs on my ps2 and it's great not having to deal with online problems.

What most people need to keep in mind is that It's not a remaster or remake, it's a collection port for modern consoles.

Nightdive: 30 bucks and we'll redraw textures and sprites by hand, you can swap between the graphics, and we'll throw in some goodies like concept art. Aspyr: 30 bucks, we'll make it 60 gigs for some reason, online multiplayer will suck, they'll be a copius amount of bugs, AND we'll use content created by modders without crediting them after saying we wouldn't!

I like that you recommend it for steam users. I started using my steam deck after, I got injured and couldn't stay at a place for more than 8 months in the past 2 years. I can say IDK about that $35 although on a switch I can see the 35 for a physical copy.

Unless the developers run a community lead test pre release (and even then there are still patches) then this issue will ALWAYS be present in game releases. The community of games play them so much they know more about how the game plays and all the issues that may plague it, the Devs put their time into creating the game and of course do some testing of their own but there are only so many hours in a day, meaning the longer they take to test the more it costs the company thus eating into profits. Ontop of this do you really think folk will be willing to wait and wait and wait for a game to be released just so it can be brought out in perfect order? I highly doubt it, in fact it's gotten so bad people will even pay for a fundamentally incomplete product (early access). So it's a case of people being impatient and driven with excitment and rightly so since again we simply can't wait forever for a title to be realised especially when the product is announced.

Damn that sucks I have both and Helldivers has so much more value I was hype for battlefront for 15 days in the first 5 minutes I knew something was really wrong I’m still loving Helldivers 100 hours later

You prefer the spinning class selection from the console versions? To me it's completely counter-intuitive and clunky for PC... The main menu is nice, but I'd like to have the original PC UI during battles, selecting CP and class was a lot faster... I had some serious sound issues in BF1 too. Also, the Reticule Transparency option from the OG BF2 is gone for some reason, a huge letdown.

This. Having the console version class selection and UI in general is ridiculous. It does not make any sense from an HCI perspective to force console interaction on PC. Everything on PC takes so much longer to do. From creating servers, to changing settings and what not. And most importantly, especially the console class selection completely messes up important dynamics of the game on PC (e.g., no quick spawning, no quick switching).

= Called it. - Randomly it gets announced this collection is coming out so soon. - Obviously pushed out to meet the anniversary date - Over hyped for an old game. Not my first rodeo. - Bought Halo MCC day one, well aware of collections being poorly made / developed / supported - Disney.

I got the game for switch so i can easily play it on the go for stuff like road trips, but i don't plan on getting it for pc, since I have the ogs, 2 with a lot of mods, and i dont think i even have 70gb free, and i do not want to go through the trouble of making that much space

If you are playing on Steam Deck I would recommend this over the originals. Built in aim assist, console UI and added DLC that was only available on XB original. Textures have had a small upscale which is nice. You can pick this up for cheap also on key sites, much cheaper than what it is on the steam sale.

There is no controller remapping on xbox, even though the default mapping is called Custom, there's only 2 or 3 other presets.

Wasnt Aspyer trying to remaster Knights of the Old Republic..?

Was super hyped but the fact that I can play both via backwards compatibility on Xbox and the only main difference is MP I can live with that. If I really crave MP I’ll go play EAs BF2 like I did last night and have a blast.

Aim assist doesn't work when you join online lobbies. You have to search for a lobby that aim assist has been putting on by the host :( shit because I can't get any kills and I got the game for my steam deck

That’s always present in every EULA for Aspyr made games. However it’s been discovered that it’s as easy to mod these games as it was to mod the original games and most of those mods work off the bat

Wanna know the funny thing... the Steam Summer Sale started today... and guess what two classic battlefront games DIDN'T go one sale... (Yes, the original ones. NOT the collection) They knew what they were doing, to the point where they didn't put the two originals on sale.

So what do y’all think? Should I request a refund? Bought it on Xbox and played for like 30 mins so far.. having no fun it feels worse than the original, also can’t invite friends to be in a party so we’re on the same team, also achievements must be bugged as Xbox says they’re not supported, I’m tempted to keep it and hope they fix all the issues soon but if that doesn’t happen within 14 days then the possibility of a refund is gone, and I could be playing outlast trials for pretty much the same price

Going off your situation I would say best case for you is to just refund it if you had no intentions in playing off line and got to play with friends. Plus by the time it does get fixed it’ll probably be much cheaper as well

Hey man, I’m still watching the video right but I haven’t heard you status yet why did they remove the ability to shuffle your maps and instant action after you’ve selected them and you didn’t want them to play in sequential order? I also completely agree with the fact that they definitely should’ve added the feature for AI to become heroes in battlefront two there’s actually a mod that does that on PC so I’m not sure why they couldn’t just bring over the slider that would make battlefront two literally fucking Perfect, if it weren’t for minor audio bugs and graphical bugs off-line experience for the win lol I hope they fix all this shit soon though and I hope they add the ability for a eyes to become heroes. That should’ve been a default setting. It’s not that hard.

One of the disappointments for me was that you can’t set it to classic graphics. To me it just looks wrong to have the same low poly textures with weirdly good graphics. I know it’s really really knit picky but it’s just one more thing I was hoping for that just adds on. MCC did it with combat evolved and it just feels wrong to me to not even include anything like it. Again I know that it’s SUPER small stuff that seems like it is counterintuitive but I still kinda was hoping for it

It sucks there are bugs but I got it on my ps5 because that's what I primarily play on and I hate that they took this long to bring it over but sloppy. I'll still play it because I never played online so I don't mind personally online being shit since I never got that chance and don't mind playing offline lmao

Only got this for Splittscreen, i mean why else would you get this on PC? But they didn't even got that right because its limited to 2 Players even though the OG XBOX version had it up to 4 Players.

The file size is the deal breaker for me. Was it 60 gigs? Just for this? Should have compressed I'm not installing that much crap for Battlefront. I mean, it's going to need a texture compression mod and the community will probably have to do it.

They bothered to add streamer mode and colourblind options but removed inverted controls.

All I can say is thank god they pulled KOTOR remake from Aspyr. Treat them with the utmost care or just leave classic games alone.

After all this shit, the real kicker for me is the little stuff just not being looked at like no ability to invert flight controls or fixing the transport hanger glitch where the AI crashes your mobile command post, stuff like that

I pre-ordered it, because one I NEVER play the first original Star Wars Battlefront. I also pre-ordered it to relive the original Star Wars Battlefront II. I got a 10% discount when I pre-ordered it since I have PS Plus on my PS5, and it took me 30 gigabytes to download.

Dude, it's so weird the PC version is soo big, my PS5 version I got is about 30GB. The hell happened to this game??? Not only that but aiming on this version is ass, and there is no way to fix it

The way I see it, I've had a decent time playing the classic collection with a friend through steam's remote play together, and have had little issues (just connection issues since my connection isn't the best), playing instant action and galactic conquest with and against him. It is too late for a refund, but as someone who hasn't really liked pvp, especially on a larger scale (with few exceptions), I actually like the classic collection... except for them messing up 1's loading screen, that absolutely sucks

They recently patched the Battlefront 1 loading sound to play like the original.

I'm playing on Switch and it's fine, even in multiplayer. Seems like it's a PC problem more than anything.

There's still a lot of issue, do i wish it was released more polished yes cause i dislike when its released as incomplete. But that's primarily thanks to company's corporate overlords giving them such little time.

I get that they wanted to improve enemy ai but this is ridiculous I'm on normal difficulty on battlefront 2 and I've been playing for a while and noticed i can have a 10 troop lead over my opponents and they can literally wipe out my lead in like 1.5 seconds killing 2-4 guys at a time meanwhile my ai team can only kill 1 every few seconds and it feels like the regular enemy ai stormtroopers can just tank my shots not to mention the garrison bug in galactic conquest sometimes just not activating when i use it i hope they nerf this in some capacity to at least be fair

Is it just me? Or are space battles speed up? I took on a intant action , infiltrated the enemy ship, destroyed 3 of the ship internals and the game auto granted me victory, the whole fight lasted less than 20 minutes? I remembered it being untill the full ship and the teo escorts were down 🤔

Single player is great barring the changing of the sounds like you mentioned, multiplayer whining aside it's great except XL needs work, I like the moonwalking though and I'm PS5 so this is a solid buy 100% and aiming is great too btw with mine at least you can auto aim headshot like a boss 2/3 shots most even at distance especially in 3rd person, just my experience, it's been out for less than 24hrs and I have 500000000hrs logged already I think I can't stop 😂😂

I already own the original bf2 on steam and Xbox one and sadly it costs to much so I don't think I'll get it edit: HOLY CRAP 70 GBS

I think I’m going to wait until the price drops. 35 dollars isn’t worth it.

Just play the originals.

The droideka complaint is the only one to feel a bit invalid. Its a remaster and not a remake. Meaning they typically keep terrible original parts unchanged

This is worth it… unless you are on PC. These 2 games were stuck on the PS2 and Nintendo never got them. Take 1 look at the “retro market” and they are selling this game front and center 24/7. And for 20 USD+ each, I might even be underselling the price because buying old games is somehow more expensive than today’s 70 USD new game market.

@@mechadeka from my understanding, modern Xbox does grant access to the original Xbox library… too bad the Xbox community is kinda low. PlayStation and Nintendo are appropriate and big enough to consider as “the console market”. Just 2 out of 3 if we want to go into detail.

True but to play devil’s advocate those servers are only ever used by 6 people throughout a month’s time span

Damn I was gonna buy this after work today but after seeing a couple vids on this, I am not gonna waste $30 over a game that’s not good at all rn besides graphics wise is great! I remember this game being my favorites playing on ps2! The game looks promising but needs to be immediately fixed and there needs to be a massive update before I consider buying this

Why would you prefer the shitty console menu over the pc one?

I don’t care about waiting for a physical release of a story game even if it takes months. But multiplayer games (especially when licensed with the Star Wars brand) should get a physical release within the release month. And I hate it when they do it through Limited Run. They suck. It doesn’t even feel like a physical release. It feels more like a pity party, an embarrassment to physical collectors. You either have to wait a long time or buy the game twice; first digitally so you can play it while you wait for the physical. You get punished for buying a superior print of a game.

In case if they ever delist the originals, i highly recommend buying them before they do lol

Make Galactic Conquest Co op This will save the game . Doesn't need to be matchmaking friendly. I just need to be able to make a private lobby of Galactic Conquest with my friends and family.

I bought this classic edition because I haven’t played these two games since 2004 and 2005 on my original Xbox and I’m now 27 years old. So I decided to give it a go but I don’t regret my purchase just yet but I also can’t buy the originals because they look like dog water and I don’t have any old consoles. I only have a PS five. My parents didn’t get Wi-Fi until I was almost in high school so I never got to play cod or halo or this multiplayer 😢
