Sk-ii is about keeping your skin at its natural and healthy form. it's not really about using chemical to reverse any types of problems you have. it's about slowing down the aging process. I have been using SK-II for 5 years. my skin is definitely very stable and very smooth.

I'm glad you've seen such positive results! And I think that chemicals sourced from natural extracts (natural in form) are completely beneficial and safe for the skin 😀Not all chemicals are bad, our body produces amazing chemicals for our skin!

It’s really difficult to find true science-based reviews. I’m a scientist, so words like “youthful” and “glow” mean nothing. Give me the evidence and peer-reviewed studies! Excellently-done. Sets your review apart. Also, excellent explanation of how studies can be manipulated to support conclusions. Great content. Just found your channel, and tbh you are a little younger than most of the reviewers I watch, but you clearly have a well-researched, grounded, approach. Looking forward to watching more of your reviews. Subscribed! 🤓

Its illegal to put science-based results on label by any cosmetic companies. Otherwise it would be classified as being a drug. The cosmetic industry is highly regulated. If the product changes the structure of the dermis, its no longer considered a cosmetic product but as a drug.

I totally agree about everything you said. My number one thing is that I’ve actually learned to care more about my skin by looking at it from a more science based approach. I need to know what I’m actually changing and what is actually working. I’ve always had such difficult skin, so changing my perspective from “glowy”, “Hydrated”, and “youthful” (which I don’t even understand tbh) has helped me feel more comfortable about the process, more in control of my situation, and more proactive about the products and knowledge I have. 😊

I agree with this guy, TRY OUT FIRST BEFORE COMMITTING. My aunts use sk-ii ever since I can remember and they do look good. We have japanese exchange students here and they explained that rich girls in Japan start sk ii as early as possible sine it's more of a prevention rather than a solution. I'm supposed to try sk ii last year when I turned 20 but its sold out here in the Ph and I'm terrified of disrupting my hypersensitive skin right now.

The tricky thing with the essence is that the results would be more noticeable over time, as it's marketed to delay aging; the way the worker's hands didn't age with the rest of their skin. It's almost kind of a gamble if it's going to make a difference in the long run.

  • @Hyram

Hi! Just an FYI- I work for a patent law firm and just because proctor and gamble has a patent on their formulation doesn’t mean that others cannot research. It would be wise to research to find another way to formulate the skincare with that same ingredient. The only reason others would not be doing any more research is because they know the ingredient is not beneficial or their trials are taking a long time and is not ready to be published.

Tried both SKII FTE and La Mer Treatment Lotion (+ all three of its moisturizing cream, the original thick formulation, gel and soft cream), and I can say SKII makes my skin looks way healthier, brighter, more even tone and no breakouts at all. But La Mer, I’d say it just doesn’t work for me. No amount of product can save your skin if keep drinking alcohol, smoking, poor diet, and/or sleeping very late. Skin type is also a factor, first, you should identify what works for your skin.

I been using Sk2 for so many years and it definitely helped my skin, especially when you have big pores and pimples. My friends can tell the difference in my skin and I got a lot of compliments. If you just used for a very short time it’s hard to keep up the result and if you don’t eat healthy it’s a problem too.

Is it scented though? I like the neogen green tea cleanser but I’m looking for a replacement as it is very highly scented. I personally use Mischa’s First Treatment Essence. Along with double cleansing and a moisturizing toner, my skin became much plumper in appearance. The ingredients are largely fermented rice water, which is pretty much what pitera is supposed to be.

I looked into SK-II a few years back, I was using Olay Regenerist at the time, and realized they share A LOT of the same ingredients. I then discovered, like you mentioned in the video, that SK-II are owned by Procter & Gamble. The same company that owns Olay! They even had yeast extract (pitera is a yeast) in one of the Regenerist products up until last year. They reformulated that product, conveniently removing the yeast extract, before launching their Golden Aura line. This new line has yeast extract (which they call “golden yeast extract”) as the star ingredient, but the story behind this yeast extract is that it comes from France, not Japan, this time. This line is only available through their website and is in the same price range as SK-II. The essence is $125. Maybe yeast is a great ingredient, but niacinamide, vitamin c, retinol, green tea (EGCG), vitamin e, and matrixyl have way more research to back them up. Other than retinol, these ingredients are in the Regenerist Regenerating Serum, which is a fraction of the price. All the ingredients in SK-II, other than pitera, are used in the Olay Regenerist line. I use the fragrance-free Regenerating Serum, the Night Recovery Cream, the SPF 30 Micro Sculpting Day Cream, and the Pro-X Deep Wrinkle Treatment (contains retinol). I’ve used these for 9 years and my skin is clear, even toned, and I only have a few very faint fine lines. I’ve tried other products from high-end to drug store, but nothing makes my skin look as good. Bottom line: if you’re curious about SK-II, try the Olay products I mentioned. They are made by the same company and use the same ingredients. Give them some time. If you really want to try a product with yeast extract, you can get it easily at in tons of Asian beauty products in the US dirt cheap. Try Missha First Treatment Essence, or similar products.

i found sk2 got reasonable prices even tho its expensive, since the major thing that i'm gonna use just 1 product. I tried so many product from Sunday Riley-Luna and Juno, Origins, Drunk Elephant and its cost me more than a bottle of FTE. Don't get me wrong the product that i have been using it works as well but since i'm getting older i want something that works and simple ( i dont think i can follow a lot of skincare step after all day at work ). So its back to personal needs :)

Hi, I LOVE your video! I'm a big fan of skii but I love your content and especially this video and how you bring the logical and science point of view (I never thought about it before!). I agree with everything that you said, it's all make sense! But if you don't mind I also wanted to share my experience. I am 33 years old, and I've been using skii for around 5 years. I didn't really think much of it in the beginning and didn't see huge difference with my skin, but I keep using it for some reason (I don't know much about skin care at that time and I believe that skii is the holy grail haha). However, sometimes I skipped using it once in a while when I wanted to save money, and that's when I see how I have fine lines and a bit of dry patches in my face, but as soon as I got back to my skii routine, I notice that the lines around my mouth and eyes are disappearing!! So it really does work! especially the RNA power (moisturiser). Now that I learned more about skin care and active ingredients, I try different products to find routine that fit more into my skin problem, but I still use the RNA power as my moisturiser. Anyway, love your video!

Awesome post! would have to agree. My issue with the SK-II is that it does contain Methylparaben (s) -because they have been known to disrupt hormone function, an effect that is linked to increased risk of breast cancer and reproductive toxicity. Unless your using a $385.00 bottle of SK-II LXP Ultimate Revival Cream; over a period of time (that contains Niacinamide- Vitamin B3, peptides, amino acids, and 50 vitamins and minerals) - I don't think your going to see much of a difference. I have not, I'm a makeup artist and a lot of my clients use it, for the bitchy clients I use GUERLAIN- "Orchidée Impériale Cream" and Dr. Perricone's - Cold Plasma Anti-Aging Face Treatment ,formulated WITHOUT: Parabens, Sulfates and Phthalates they contain Proprietary Neuropeptides,Patented 2 DMAE,Tocotrienols, (Elite Vitamin E), and Patented Phospholipids all of which are proven and are ACTUALLY on the label unlike SK-II (which I find sketchy).

I just started using SK II (the essence) probably a month ago, and I feel like my skin has never looked as young, bright and especially I feel like my skin texture is more smooth. I've tried a bunch of different products from all sorts of brands, and I feel like I'm seeing a big difference? I haven't had breakouts for quite a while, and idk if it's the essence or what but for now I'm continuing use. I was, and skill am skeptical about if maybe I just wanted it to work b/c I bought one if their cute limited edition bottles that's out right now, but so far so good. I will probably repurchase when I run out. Love Hyram's points about it, and if you're curious I think trying a sample or trial size first is a great option.

Rose F From Nature Age Treatment Essence. It’s $20 and is 96% galactomyces ferment which is what “Pitera” is. Also, you definitely don’t need to spend a lot to have a good skincare routine. The proven things that benefit the skin are things like a gentle low PH cleanser, retinoids, AHA, BHA, skin identical ingredients like niacinamide and urea, antioxidants, humectants, and ingredients that seal in moisture. All of these ingredients can be found in affordable well formulated skincare. Check out Cerave at the drugstore and the Korean brands Iunik, Isntree, Purito, Cosrx, Pyunkang Yul, and A’pieu. I also recommend these more science based Indie brands: Timeless, Skin Actives, Stratia Skin, and JJ Labs Skin Solutions.

I must say I am in complete agreement with you because given my skin needs: acne scarring and conspicuous pores, “pitera” isn’t going to do much. I rather spend my hard earned money on something more affordable and with proven results like AHA and BHA, and skin needling or chemical peels.
