Santa Teresa is one of the top travel destinations in the world in 2022. But why has it become so popular?
If you are like us, when you think about beach paradise you think about Bali, the Philippines or Sri Lanka. Some of our favorite travel influencers on Instagram went to Santa Teresa in Costa Rica and we had to check it out for ourselves.
Santa Teresa is on a remote peninsula of Costa Rica, getting there generally requires a long shuttle ride and ferry. But its well worth the journey.

We used them both and they were great.
What once was a rustic oceanside village is now developing into a bustling town. With restraints, cafes, and great nightlife. Now, we agree that gentrification is often a bad thing, but we believe Santa Teresa is in a sweet spot right now. Developed enough to be comfortable, but not overly developed.
You are not only limited to Santa Teresa, with Monte Zouma just a quick ATV ride away, with amazing waterfalls and hikes to be explored.

This is a super cool video, thank you 🙏🏼🙏🏼 a few questions - are you able to rent an ATV for days or a week at a time/do you remember the price? And if so how did you fill up gas. Was it easy to find Montezuma waterfall using Waze? I know you said you got lost. Thank you again! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Did you guys rent a car to get there? Or not worth it and better to shuttle in and get an atv once your there? Also which hotels/hostels there do you recommend?

great place I agree, maybe going off-season because it is too crowded, too noisy, too dusty, too expensive, too busy, and too much LOL totally overrated. The video is great though. Pura vida.

Went there 20 years ago on honeymoon. Got robbed immediately after dropping our bags off where we were staying. Pretty sure the thieves were friends of the coke head guy we were renting from. They also robbed his ex-mother in law. Surf was good, but there’s nothing else to do there. Playa Hermosa es mejor!

Santa Theresa (and CR overall) has amazing nature, but zero value for what you pay. everything in Bali is SO much better. Food, housing, massages, transport, internet, plus you still get excellent nature.

Lmao I ain't flying 18+ hours to have a better experience, which like everything else, is subjective. Costa Rica and for that matter Central America will do.
Super over hyped area. its a super expensive mad house of a place. loud traffic..dirty and muddy. I cant take more than 3-4 days there at a time.

Agree, been to Bali/Lombok 3 times and now wanted to try something else so went here instead… big mistake… insane prices, beach break with a alot of closeouts and big boards flying everywhere… dirty roads and loud traffic.. Renting a atv is like 80$/day, renting a motorbike in Indonesia is between 4-6$ a day, which cheaply lets you access waves of higher quality by better roads than they got in Santa Teresa… sorry Santa Teresa, you are not the new Bali/Indo

i just got back from santa teresa in may, it was not expensive, not sure what you call expensive, i also lived in canggu and tulum nd playa del carmen so i am familiar with tourist trap, this was my first time in santa teresa and it remind me of canggu of 6 years ago
no its not totally sucks
santa teresa is more beautiful but its like 10000x boring than bali, it will never be the same
If any place in the world became popular, crowded, destroyed, etc. the only reason this happens, is because KZreadrs 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
