Is Salt Water A Problem With Automatic Pool Covers?

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

www.swimmingpoolsteve.com/page... - Learn why some pool builders say you should not get a salt water system if you have an automatic pool cover. Automatic pool covers are an expensive upgrade and you would need to be aware that adding salt to your pool can likely increase rates of corrosion and scale formation.

Coverstar auto pool cover lasted 15 years with my salt water pool.

a little off topic but your video popped up when i was searching auto covers. My question is about the aluminum cover that is flush with the concrete. I assume that the lid should just easily lay inside the box without having to twist the lid and then stomp on it to seat it?

So what’s a alternative to chlorine and salt? I’m looking to install a rectangular leisure pool and we definitely want a automatic pool cover and we don’t like chlorine and we’re not a fan of salt

We do not have a salt water pool, but we do have an auto pool cover and it is the "cat's meow" ! We have an indoor pool and just replaced the fabric after @ 10 years. Hard water deposits and dry cracking does the fabric in. It is not for the faint of heart, but we replaced the fabric ourselves....it looks beautiful.

Would love to know what system you would recommend … we are doing an automatic cover and was planning on doing salt, but would love to hear what you’d buy instead

The traditional alternative is liquid chlorine

Have you ever seen a surface mount automatic pool cover with a diving rock on one end? One guy told me it can't be done.

You know what’s crazy my pool installation guy is telling me I won’t have any problems. Smh. I really wanted salt and I really wanted an automatic pool cover.

I am building a pool right now with a hidden cover installed in a rectangular shaped pool. I decided to go with chlorine. They just finished the plumbing and gas and it passed inspection.

Would you mind if I show homeowners this video.? I am a service tech in California and I deal with this all the time. I remove bond wires and ground wires to slow down the process of electrolytes. I just checked out the rest of your channel and I want to use your videos to inform homeowners on their chemical level as it does affect the condition of the covers. This video is soo helpful for homeowners and us service techs. I saw the chemical level video and this is something I have been looking for. I will be showing this video to all my guys here at the company. The reason is that we work in California and I believe that the marine layer can also cause corrosion on aluminum parts even though they have a chlorine pool. On top of that we are not pool cleaners and don’t understand the levels of pH. I appreciate the info. Take care

Please do. On the surface some pros don't like that I give away industry insider information. But in reality most of what I write is intended to support the industry workers. It benefits everyone to have informed customers. I have a tutorial on liner installation that pros hate, but in reality when most people see how much work and care goes into a liner they understand why they are paying a thousand or two for what amounts to essentially one days work. I digress. Please DO use my videos and articles from my website internally with your company, or publicly through email distribution or sharing through social media. All.of that is good for me and I appreciate you finding value in the content I create. Cheers :)

I missed that the first read through, but can you expand on what you mean by removing bond wires. This is not something that I would normally recommend and I am interested to know more about your experiences.

Automatic pool covers are a money pit, salt or not. The installation will cost thousands of dollars, usually $5000+, and even a warranty replacement of the fabric after the third year or so will cost upwards of $2000, replacing the fabric with a new every 7-10 years is another $2000, replacing or repairing parts will be $500-2000+, etc. JMO. Solar is the way to go. Just a few $100 every few years to replace the material.
