From my experience, Northern Thailand is substantially more family oriented than Central to Southern Thailand. Living in Bangkok was amazing, even with my family. However, a trip ( by train 🙏🫶 ) from Bangkok to Phrae and Chiang Mai opened my eyes to the stunning beauty of the North. The Isan people and culture stole my heart.

Thailand is driven by tourism heavily in term of GDP, while Malaysia is absolutely not in that category. Hence for a single man who grown up in Thailand running a nomadic lifestyle can be biased to say the least looking for women & parties etc.. Malaysia is more suit for family orientation who want stability, better integration with the locals culture & language long term. Just sayin in term of compare apple to apple.

The main problem with Thailand is that English is not widely spoken. Although the younger generation can speak and understand basic English, most of the people speaks Thai. The signboards, street names, train stations are in the Thai language which makes it difficult at time to pronounce or remember the names. Malaysia on the other hand uses English and the Malay language are written in English alphabets which makes it easier to pronounce and remember.

We say Thailand for food is much much better than Malay without a doubt. This is because of the balance between good and bad nutritions in the meal. Thai definitely oozes with fresh herbs, spices and salads that keep fat food alternatives at bay while Malay cuisine is hearty whether from Chinese or Indian influences. However, unfortunately for those who love fresh greens then the type in this sort of meal choices available is a lot less in Malay. The Thai eat their fresh herbs and spices like sweet and mad about their leafy greens, cut salad as well as vegetables as their main meal because of the chili dipping in the food culture - that is basically similar to the Greek with their hummus but with hundreds more in healthy options. Most Thai households generally will always have a few kind of chilli dip, sauce or dressing and veggies ready even as snacks. We have seen Thai girls eat their humongous somtum varieties of the raw papaya salad, un ripen green mango salad, cucumber salads, beansprout salad, pomelos salad, green bananas flower salad, water lilies petals salad…. = Actually they turn anything into salad with fresh herbs and spices five times a day like there is no tomorrow. We are baffled with their non stop picking eaters habits at any opportunity given even during working office hours where we work-That is crazy admirable and now we understand how could a small Thai girls eat so much without getting fat. 😜 😂❤😊

I have been visiting Malaysia on and off for the past 35 years and have seen massive change. Beautiful country, lovely people and great cuisine. However, I have never been north across the border to Thailand. I never felt the need. I advise anyone who wish to retire to Western Malaysia (capital Kuala Lumpur) to check out the alternative retirement options in either Sabah or Sarawak (East Malaysia). You will find these alternatives financially more favourable than West Malaysia. The good thing about this option is this major fact. Once you receive your Sabah or Sarawak retirement visa it is also VALID for West Malaysia allowing you to live there if you choose to do so. However, to retain the visa, you will need to prove you have also spent a certain amount of days in a year within the state issuing the visa. So, for those of you who do not have hundreds of thousands sitting in some bank account this could be your dream ticket. Best of luck.

They make room for gays too, but same with the heterosexual, they don't allow the extremely flamboyant, public obscenities or propagandizing towards creation of sexual-orientated based culture. Just keep it within your house and you'd be fine. The main issue is to have productive and functioning upcoming young generation with sound minds and strong workforce not too sexed up about things.

Thanks for pointing out the issues in Thailand. It's true, Thailand has its problems with crime and the environment. But remember, no country is perfect, including Malaysia. Malaysia also has its problems. Politically, it's seen a lot of changes and some corruption. kzread.info/dash/bejne/Zpyts7SvYZnQZbg.html “The legacy of Malaysia’s 1MDB scandal on politics and corruption-fighting” Economically, its reliance on oil means it can be hit hard by changes in oil prices. It also struggles with deforestation and pollution, which harms its beautiful natural surroundings and affects people's health. On the social front, Malaysia has issues too, especially regarding the rights of LGBTQ+ people and strict laws in some areas. Like Thailand, it also deals with human trafficking and problems in workplaces, especially where migrant workers are involved. kzread.info/dash/bejne/lIF3zpKHm7Scgco.html “Transgender, Muslim and banned in Malaysia | Unreported World” I chose not to include all these detailed issues in the video to keep it focused and manageable in length, especially since it was aimed at audiences interested in retirement and holiday perspectives. However, it seems there's a strong interest in these broader topics, so I might cover them in more depth in future videos.

Malaysia is a very boring city but it is slightly cheaper than Bangkok for its living costs and better for taxes. That is why most high-earning digital nomad locals (Malaysians) choose to live in Bangkok rather than their own city in KL. Even the dating experience is much better with higher quality women in Bangkok.

Crime in an Asian country. LMAO! Anyone been to ANY major US City? California? Dudes, if your on the fence about where to go? Just go on vacation. Plan about a month being there. I see a lot of these costs being quoted as needing 1500- $2500 a month to live here. Not true if you DO YOUR DILIGENCE BEFOREHAND! I know people that rent houses for $60 a month. Live like the locals, and just enjoy their time and working remote. Being able to save 90% of your paycheck, is a great way to save for retirement, even if making less overall then you would in the West. And as you might now, we are going to be hitting a downturn or slump soon. Plan accordingly. But don't be like all the other looky loo tourtists. Get out of the Main cities and explore the internal parts of these countries.
