Is Redeemed Zoomer Leaving the PCUSA?

Ойын-сауық

Recently the PCUSA General Assembly was held and some of the proposals made the few remaining conservatives very concerned. One of them is friend of the show, Redeemed Zoomer. Today, he discusses the current state of the PCUSA and the continued hopes of his reconquista movement.

"I feel like these offshoot denominations do this and say that..." This keeps coming up, but can RZ demonstrate any of these feelings as actually systemic within said denom? These claims are lightweight strawmen coming from someone who doesn't seem to have any meaningful lived experience of church life within these denoms. He is also coming across as heavily institution-centric about his describing the influence of a church on the surrounding culture. Programs and more institutions are the assumption, but what about all the non-material influences on the culture? No one one in the PCA for example, is walking around espousing the institutional grounding of the PCA, claiming it's closer to the "True" Knox church or whatever, flexing it's hereditary roots, polishing it's 18th century stained glass windows, or boasting about the cool Universities it built then left to rot under liberalism. "We're older and bigger. So... you know.. more better?" Maybe these denoms don't look as institutionally impressive, because they know that Christianity's influence on the culture is multi-dimensional, and is ultimately guided by the Spirit moving through people's hearts. I.E. Perhaps they know that the church was never measured according to institutional prowess, and instead measured by faithfulness to The Gospel which "leaks" out into the culture, even doing so at the expense of institutional unity just to preserve an image of a strong institution. I'll be critical of RZ's attitude towards other denoms, and will defend all of these "offshoots" until he can see these rather arbitrary presumptions he's operating under. I'll also pray his reconquista work.. works. I hope he changes his mind about ECO, PCA, and OPC being schismatic and can better sympathize with those who would rather not attempt to worship underneath an established institution that hates you. Depending on how you look at it, those communities that split off from the PCUSA can be viewed as the stubborn cowards, or as heroic refugees that got bullied and scandalized away from their home country. If you only ever adopt one of these views, then you're being reductive about the situation and you'll be equally reductive about the people in these smaller denominations.

They still hope that newer pastors in other Presbyterian groups will not be so quick with the extreme reactions. CREC is also very open to various interactions. It's theoretically possible for a Reformed Baptist church to join the CREC.

Couple of general questions; 1. Are the two Westminster seminaries conservative, liberal, apostate, or whatever? 2. Congrats on getting the amendment changed to the requirement that all ministerial applicants conform to the historical teachings of the Presbyterian Church. Where would one go to find the accepted historical teachings? Thanks.

I'll give this a try. Others can correct me if I get this wrong or leave out too many details. Yes, the Westminster Seminaries are conservative, but there are other seminaries that are committed to the historic Reformed faith. For example, Reformed Theological Seminary (RTS) which has multiple campuses, Covenant Seminary, the official seminary of the PCA, and other seminaries of the smaller Presbyterian Churches like Erskine Seminary of the ARPC or the Reformed Presbyterian Theological Seminary of the RPCNA. Of course, if your goal is to stay within the PCUSA, you can still get a good Reformed education at Princeton even though conservatives may be in a minority. There are also non-Presbyterian seminaries that have a largely conservative student body and faculty and a significant Presbyterian presence. The two schools that most often get mentioned in this category are Fuller Seminary and Gordon-Conwell Seminary. You can still get ordained in the PCUSA from these two seminaries. Sorry if I've missed some other good schools.

Anti-paedo-communion is not based on the visible/invisible church distinction, but rather the minority/majority distinction, or said differently: the transition from childhood to adulthood. The analogy would be the bar mitzvah, where the boy though born into the community now publicly affirms it standing on his own two feet. There are several other problems with paedo-communion, for example: if a 3-year-old is communicated, then can he not also be ex-communicated? Yet what parent would tolerate that? So no, neither our paedo-baptism nor rejection of paedo-communion is based on the visible/invisible distinction.

If that is the minisrty God has called him to, more power to him! It is a noble cause indeed. I would urge the greatest caution and humility as bad theology corrupts good in the most insideous ways. Being the spiritual head of the family is also a huge responsibility that may be impacted by such a ministry. I am all for not conceding ground to the enemy, but I will not have my children attending a church that teaches heresies. I love my PCA church and am grateful to have witnessed the amazing work God has used us for over the last 25 years in our community. Learning YEC and TULIP in Sunday school is a much better foundation than the initialisms they would get at the USA church.

As I listened to the conversation I just kept hearing the terms liberal and conservative. Why don’t we call it what it is, churches that hold to sound Biblical Doctrine and churches that teach unsound Biblical doctrine plus heresy. Anyone that teaches that Jesus Christ didn’t come to earth in human form, was scourged, mocked, crucified on the Cross where He died physically as a human being then put in the tomb then the most important part was raised from the dead via the Resurrection is committing heresy. As far as conduct, embracing and accepting the practice of sexual sin is like crucifying Jesus Christ all over again. The Bible is quite clear as far as sins like homosexuality or this whole trans gender movement which is like a cancer in a church body. This is where a strong Bible believing pastor is needed and the leading of the Holy Spirit to call people to repentance in Jesus Christ’s Name. It’s not complicated but pastors need to take a hard stand and not be afraid of losing money from the reprobates.

Even though Roman Catholics, Eastern Orthodox, Oriental Orthodox, and the Church of the East have a lot of hierarchy, centralized structure, stricter rules and procedures, and believe in the “one true church” doctrine, many of them, even some of their priests are just overtly “Cafeteria Catholics”/Nominally Orthodox (who are very nominal or only culturally Catholic/Orthodox), or even Folk Catholic/Folk Orthodox, some aren’t really devout Christians even by their own Catholic/Orthodox standards thus creating a huge variation in beliefs and huge deviation from core Christian tenants of the faith among individuals that are supposed to be shared by all true (Mainstream-Nicene) Christians regardless of denomination even though on paper there are strict outlines of dogma & hierarchy. While Evangelicals are very decentralized, believe “in essentials unity, in nonessentials liberty, in all things charity,” and put a higher emphasis on understanding and living out correct Christian teaching as opposed to obsessing over structure and hierarchy like Catholics do; so people who have wonky and unorthodox beliefs when it comes to primary issues tend to leave because in Evangelicalism there’s no point in staying (for the exception of non-Christian Republicans/political conservatives in the United States who don’t go to church & are stealing/co-opting the term for political reasons in collusion with secular media who want to fit their boogymen into neat boxes) because by definition you can’t be an Evangelical or a Christian if you no longer hold to those beliefs; Catholicism, Eastern/Oriental Orthodoxy, and Mainline Protestantism are the opposite, Catholics/Orthodox who don’t hold to Catholic/Orthodox beliefs or even basic Christian beliefs are guilt-tripped into staying and are encouraged to stay because a baptized Catholic/Orthodox is still a Catholic/Orthodox even if they no longer believe in the tenants of the faith - most stay because simply being in the Catholic Church or the Orthodox Churches is more important than upholding Catholic/Orthodox or even broadly Christian beliefs. … … A similar occurrence also happens in Mainline Protestant denominations not because they believe in the “one true church” doctrine (which they don’t), it’s because Mainline Protestant denominations are ready and willing to bend their core beliefs via theological liberalism/theological progressivism to maintain membership, plus (some also obsess over maintaining power/hierarchy as opposed to maintaining biblically orthodox theology and) many maintain membership and participate in church practices (like Baptism, Confirmation, etc.) solely for social and cultural reason even if they don’t believe in the tenets of the faith.

They are also not causing schism. Nor are they the cause or the reason behind having three different conservative Presbyterian denominations in the USA. Those whom he has chosen, because he is sovereign, because he wants to. *4.* "God", with great love, forces the 4 to believe in his “Son”. *5* Finally, two of them finished the race well, one ended up tied to pornography and another, getting entangled in sin, ended up worse than he was. But “God” forces them all to enter in Heaven. If God says that He has died for all, *it is that He has died for ALL:* *Isaiah 53:6* ; *John 1:29* ; *John 3:16,17* ; *John 4:42* ; *2 Corinthians 5:14,15* ; *Romans 5:18* ; *1 Timothy 2:6* ; *1 Timothy 4:10,11* ; *Titus **2:11* ; *1 John 2:2* ; *John 12:47* ; *1 John 4:14* ; *Hebrews 2:9* …etc Let us be very very careful, lest we be found liars before God.
