In Chapter 1, nobody really had any doubts that Ralsei was telling the truth. He was just the precious ball of fluff that everyone loved, and the only big theories were about what his relation to Asriel was. However, Chapter 2 has made people realize that Ralsei may have been hiding some very important information from us like details about world-ending events. Can we even trust Ralsei anymore?

I love ralsei with all of my being, but he's literally so sus. the way he also completely undermines Kris' feelings after the spamton fight is also pretty weird. how he can basically send the player to look at what Susie is doing when she's away.. personally I believe that ralsei does have an idea of the player's existence just like kris.

I think that ralsei knows about the player, and knows that if anyone else knew about the soul, the entire world could be at stake with the roaring. If kris and Susie talked after the fight with spamton, the soul may be learned about as spamtons fight shows that kris would probably die without the soul

Pretty sure we are diverted from Kris so they can scheme about something. I am worried that Ralsei might try to either help Kris get rid of us (which is terrible), what do to when soulless (maybe not bad) or try to explain to them WHY they are being puppeted by an extradimensional entity (also probably bad).

I really like this whole thing, but I don't think I agree with the "closing all dark fountains, even Ralsei's" thing. Doesn't the Prophecy state there's a balance between Light and Dark? If you closed all the dark fountains, wouldn't the balance still shift, just with the Light side instead of the Dark? That's something I don't think anyone's really thought about yet. What happens if Light overtakes the Dark instead of the reverse?

I feel Ralsei mentions things when it's necessary. He mentions the prophecy to Kris and Susie because that was the only way he and them can fulfill it. He only mentions the Roaring because it was about to transpire right then and there at the end of chapter 2. I feel depending on how and when things occur in the game's story, Ralsei goes along with it, talking about bits and pieces of lore only when the time comes for it. Also, he never fully mentioned how exactly the three heroes in the prophecy will "banish" the Angel's Heaven. Perhaps something will happen that will cause in his death, but if he told Kris and Susie that, they'd most surely not go through with it, as they wouldn't want to lose their friend. That could make for very tragic and incredible twist by the end of the game, and not be reliant on Ralsei being some evil Flowey-type character. These are just my ideas, though. This video was great as always, and I can't wait to see more!!!

Personally, I think that there's a pretty simple, socially regular idea behind not talking about all of these fine details. The mission is already clear enough between Susie and Kris that there isn't any actual merit to commenting more about it. Susie definitely isn't the type to want to hear all of the little semantics involved in these prophecies and Kris, even as the third-best student in their class, might not necessarily be interested or even trying to feign disinterest to keep the information away from the player. a regular occurance for them. There's the possibility that Ralsei is just recognizing these surface-level cues and just choosing not to elaborate for the sake of Kris and Susie's interests. As for Spamton, he could outright be stating his own opinion. “It doesn't mean anything and isn't healthy to dwell on” is an acceptable response to what happened with Spamton without knowing what Kris and Spamton worked for. He just sincerely has no clue what it means to Kris because he can't sympathize with what happened. This can also be seen with his own struggles with his own personality and what he attributes Kris and Susie's friendship to in the swan ride: even learning sarcasm just for the sake of being a “closer friend” to Kris, because he just thinks that's how it works. After living in total isolation for his entire life, it's entirely possible for him to have developed these kinds of nonstandard thinking patterns and grown into an antisocial personality due to having to learn everything from the ground up: trying his best to understand and coming short of it only to come off as shallow and indifferent.

In regards to how Ralsei is able to survive in other dark worlds, since he explains that the Castle Town fountain is made of pure darkness that allows foreign darkners to survive there, it more or less implies that he himself is made of pure darkness. The only thing this doesn’t explain is how he got to the Cyber World. It made sense that he and Lancer could go back and forth between Castle Town and the Card Kingdom since the two are directly connected by a door, but the Cyber World is in a completely different building…

Exactly. I believe he knows that kris is possessed, but let’s it happen because he knows that kris isn’t the human in the prophecy, it’s YOU. He is doing what he is doing because he genuinely does want to protect the world, but has to let kris suffer in order to do so. That would explain why he talks directly to the player (saying to press buttons like x while susie doesn’t seem to know what that means) as well as brushing off the spamton neo fight as it might make kris free themselves from your grasp, meaning the prophecy can’t happen and the world will end.

It's in the video at one point but just thought I should put it here in case people missed it. - A few people have pointed out that Lancer ALSO talks about the legend, so more proof for it being real to some extent. So about the part about Ralsei surviving in the cyber world, I think I know why. When Lancer is turned to stone, he says that bringing him to the castle town will bring him back to normal as that fountain is made of pure darkness. I think what is happening here is that since Ralsei is from that dark world/ dark fountain that is made of pure darkness, he isn't affected by this new type of darkness like Lancer is, see it is probably that each dark fountain that is created ( other than the castle town one ) has it's own theme, the first one was all about cards and stuff like that, while the cyber world is all about computer programs, and since Lancer comes from the Cards fountain, his body isn't used to the darkness of the cyber fountain, but Ralsei coming from a fountain that doesn't have themes like these and can probably adapt to different fountain variations, most likely won't be affected... This is just what I think tho...

Even though a bit shaky at times, I think I established pretty clearly in Part 3 of my theory series (kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZXyp1pN-Z7DRnLA.html) why Ralsei is NOT this game's equivalent of Flowey, but he’s the new Sans, a representative of law. Both Undertale and Deltarune have the moral dilemma of us having to choose between law and chaos. In Undertale, the chaotic force was Flowey and his own philosophy, “KILL OR BE KILLED”. The law side (represented by Sans) stated that showing MERCY pays off. If you side with chaos by killing everyone, you prove Flowey right, and the game ends with Chara killing Frisk and destroying the world. In Deltarune, Susie is the one representing chaos, at least at the start. She says: “YOUR CHOICES DON’T MATTER”, which basically means that the ones without power (Kris) cannot make any difference, while those with power can get away with anything. Ralsei is the one stating that our choices DO matter to some degree, therefore we should be nice and merciful (even though he said that we must save the world WHEN the Roaring happens, NOT IF, meaning that it’s inevitable, and he just tried to prevent any premature triggers). From our current standpoint, it is entirely possible that if we side with chaos again, Susie and Ralsei will team up against us, snapping the corrupted people out of their Trance, retrieving whatever was left of our victims and beating the vessel to a pulp.

Considering the whole idea of “We must seal every Fountain, even my own”, I’m gonna bounce off of Andrew Cunningham’s idea of “Creating Fountains is analogous to Creating Fiction”. Toby entirely could craft the ending of this story to hold a metaphorical meaning of “No matter the fictional world you’ve created, it simply can’t be explored forever. At some point, what you’ve created must eventually become a memory, but you may also cherish that memory you’ve crafted for yourself.” In a sense, it could bring finality to the worlds of Undertale and Deltarune, as his way of letting go of those creations to move on to something else. A “swan song”, so to speak.

3:20 Well, he sort of gives an explanation on how he survives. He said that Darkeners turn to stone if they don't match the will of the Dark Fountain they are sustaining on, not that Darkeners turn to stone outside their Dark World. So Ralsei just matches the will of all three Fountains we've encountered. I'd say it probably has to do with what he is. Assuming the "the will of the Dark Fountain" is the location, not the Fountain's creator's emotions, then Ralsei might just be an object that can belong in a supply closet, classroom, AND computer lab. Cards aren't really something often found in a computer lab, especially give that we seem to be in the server itself. This assumption goes especially well with the "Ralsei is Kris' fake horns" theory. Edit:Also, what if the reason Ralsei keeps leaving information out is because it’s in the manual?

The most suspicious thing ralsei does is knowing kris and susie's names before meeting them. Also in chapters 1 and 2 Ralsei tells Kris to focus, to see what susie is doing, thats so fucking weird. Could Ralsei know the player can see anything, and that we are controlling Kris?

Probably not evil. Definitely sketchy. Definitely knows much more than he should and speaks to Kris and the player as 2 separate entitys. I think Ralsei’s ability to travel between dark worlds and not turn into stone is similar as to why darkeners don’t turn to stone from his fountain. After all, the fountain that he is from is “made from pure darkness.” This would probably allow him to adjust to other dark fountains, and maybe travel to the other dark worlds.

I don't really know what Kris is planning, but whatever it is, Ralsei is obviously helping with it(sending the soul away to talk to Kris directly is a huge indicator of this). Which is why he comes across as so sus. Ralsei is probably just that headband with the horns, which is why he can show up anywhere, and Kris is hiding it from us like the knife. I DO partly believe the explanation on the whole "prince of darkness" thing. Where the supply closet is just so dang dark, that any darkner born in it will be adaptable to other realms. Because if Ralsei is the horns, that fully explains why he's a goat monster. Where it's much more about the history of the thing and what it means to you, than what it actually is. Why he's a prince though idk.

to back up the theory about ralsei inserting himself into the story, during chapter two before the big boss fight when queen is reciting the story about the knight, it shows kris, susie, and noelle being put together to make a new world, and ralsei is not anywhere in the story. this may not have much relevance but i did feel the need to point that out. it may be because noelle has stronger magical abilities and is able to use spells like iceshock, which would make her more powerful in the long run, but it also might be because they need noelle instead of ralsei to help seal the fountains and such. just my own little side theory, i hope you consider it :)

I’m also leaning more towards Ralsei being good, but is lying for a not so sinister reason. Maybe lying about his own importance because of insecurities, or like you said. That even he has to be sealed away someday. It could be a moral story about leaving things behind to grow up. We will see. That would thematically go against growing the main fountain town, and citizens. Which seems to be a goal to look forward too. However it could just be a way to make the final sealing feel even harder to do.

One disturbing red flag is that Kris dislikes Ralsei, even though Ralsei seems to confide in him even while the player is absent (perhaps even deliberately distracting us). Kris may just be irritated by Ralsei being over-affectionate I suppose, but given that Kris isn't actively malicious, admiring Susie and being protective of Noelle, the fact that he seems to like Ralsei less and goes directly against his instructions by opening another dark fountain, suggests that he either resents or doesn't trust him.

For brushing off the Spamton Neo fight.... maybe he's also super uncomfortable about the deal like Kris and Suzie but handles it in a different way... something like "The immediate threat is gone, only way left for it to hurt us is mentality by thinking about it... so lets stop thinking about, and forget about it so it can't hurt us any more." Is that a healthy way to go about it... doubtful, but it can tie into why he held of the knowledge of the Roaring for so long as well: Is this info crucial, yes... but they are already on board, so giving another reason for them to agree seems pointless, and having that info in their heads can stress them out if they keep thinking about what happens if they fail. So lets keeps them from thinking/stressing over it by not telling them about it unless it becomes necessary to do so.

Ok, so before I sound too critical, I do want to say some points are valid and reasonable ( like the whole brushing off spamton NEO fight) but some things in here are clearly ignored. take for example the fact that the school's fountain exudes pure darkness, allowing any darkner to survive in the area of affect. in theory, this would also allow any darkner created by this fountain to survive anywhere, in any fountain, leaving the only question regarding ralsei's presence in chapter 2 being how he appeared in the second dark world.

Another possibility that I've seen mentioned a couple times: someone- whether the Knight or Gaster- might be somehow controlling or at least using Ralsei. They gave him a fake version of the Prophecy and convinced him it would be best if he only told people about it on a need-to-know basis. This could also be why Ralsei doesn't want to talk about Spamton.

  • @Lagw1020
    @Lagw10202 жыл бұрын

My theory is that like Flowey, he knows that this is a game. Unlike Flowey, he wants to follow through with it, in a "I want to play too!" sorta way. The legend is the game's plot. He tried brushing off Kris' worries because he doesn't want to "break away from the sequence", which is what Spamton wanted to do, using the Neon suit. The lack in control is a big deal to Kris, but despite it, you can get hints of how he truly feels. Ralsei, in the end, wants to reach the happy ending. While Ralsei promotes freedom in choices, the game only has one path, on the contrary, Susie ignores these rules and makes her own choices, but insists you have no choices. Susie ignores your command and she makes her own choices. That's why Kris likes Susie over Ralsei. Another note, when Ralsei gives you the choice to wonder about Susie, it's probably in the game script and that's why Ralsei is insistent, even tho you have the option to ignore it. Seems like Ralsei really wants you to follow the script... BUT he probably isnt in the script, but wanting to play with you, he inserted himself in. This causes "unintended effects", like nobody noticing Ralsei, him not being effected by the stone disease, and he can appear wherever he wants to appear. The only way to truly break from the path is through determination, which Spamton wanted with the suit. In the Weird route, even tho Kris doesn't like it, you can get enough determination through cryptic means: using the game's rules against it. By killing Berdly, you free him from the set path...although he's dead regardless.

If you're not aware, there is a route in one of the queen fights(where berdly is attached to the wire thingy) where instead of cutting it or shaking it(the ya know, action you take) instead I believe if you just attack queen(something along those lines) then eventually berdly just rips it off, in the process, burning his arm. When they end and wake back up, he can't move the arm that was burnt and Noelle has to carry his things out. What confuses me is why Ralsei didn't heal him? Why would he not? You could say that it was because of king faking him out and healing king during the first chapter, but that doesn't really explain it very well for me? It just doesn't really make sense. I feel like one thing that nobody talks about in regards to the scene where Ralsei explains The Roaring is the fact that it seems to confirm that it's possible to make a Dark Fountain while inside a Dark World. Ralsei only intervenes with Burghley's plans because he's worried about The Roaring - so surely that means what Nerdly was attempting was possible, right? I feel like a lot of other theories get really caught up on how possible it is for someone to be at a certain place at a certain time to open a Dark Fountain. But if it's possible to create a Dark World from inside a Dark World, I think it's safe to say that there's still a lot we don't know about the exact mechanics of their creation.

Here’s my personal theory: as you may have noticed, in each dark world there is a certain darkner like Jevil and Spamton that has been contacted by some sort of strange entity, whether that entity be Gaster or whomever. You may have also noticed that the Castle Town is completely independent and is practically it‘s own little dark world with it’s own fountain and everything. My theory is that Ralsei is one of these darkners that has been influenced by the entity, or is even the entity himself, which would explain why he tries to get Kris and Susie to ignore the significance of Spamton Neo or how he is able to do many of the odd things he has done.

Or they could be hiding things for any other reason, it won't become clear until the rest of the game is finished.

What I like about this and how Toby did this is that it bothers us that its so damn obscure because there is actually some straightforward answers to some of these... they just aren't satisfying or they're incomplete. >The Roaring Probably felt he didn't need to give details because he already clarified that the fountains will bring the end of the world. He only brought up details when he realized others weren't grasping its severity. >Spamton Ralsei seems in character here despite trying to brush it off. He has a very naive (apparently) point of view and him asking Kris not to think about it was probably his way of getting Kris to relax and stop being upset (we know Ralsei adores Kris via Tea Theory). >Dark World Its already been established he can exist in another Dark World in Chapter 1. Why can he exist there? Because he's the Prince of Darkness. Which implies he has a status above other Darkners whether they realize it or not. All these are explanations but few of them are satisfying.

I think the Roaring is probably the weakest bit of evidence. As you point out in the video, Ralsei already told Kris and Susie about the world ending if the fountains get out of control. Its kinda like, "Hey, the world is gonna end if you do this." And people start going and trying to do it anyway, you may need to spell it all out. So I dont think he was intentionally hiding it, he has no reason to. Its just he thought "the end of the world" was motive enough to close the fountains, but it wasn't for some of the Lightners.

See my theory for why Ralsei is hiding everything is because of the player. He doesn't want us to know more about the world to be able to possibly break it or do anything to it and is why he probably doesn't mention the roaring as its a bad thing and if we have the knowledge that we can cause it I don't think Ralsei would be too happy, it gets supported by the fact Ralsei ALWAYS talks to Kris in private if it's something "important", in Chapter 1 he was talking to Kris whilst we were gone with Susie and he does this again in Chapter 2 but in Chapter 2 he insists that we look at what Susie is doing which would make our POV shift away frok Ralsei. It can also explain Kris' strange behaviour as they great a dark fountain out of nowhere and and Ralsei could've possibly told Kris this is possible in Chapter 1 and is why Kris set everything up for the next day aka having the TV be plugged as they even turn it on before opening a new fountain (don't quote me on that though), he probably doesn't want to mention anything interesting or important to not give us a reason to try and come back because what makes a player come back the most to a game? Having content, although weither or not Ralsei can remember the pervious world if we create a new file or the erased one is unknown. He doesn't seem Evil (as of yet anyways) and him actually being Evil would quite literally be copying Flowey who pretends to help you out with a ending but the moment you go on a True Pacifist he swipes the souls which was his original plan but seeing it failed he wanted to try something different (he even made Papyrus call everyone to the barrier) which would kinda be retelling the same character which I don't think Toby would do (perhaps Kris is the exception because they follow similar traits to Frisk and Chara and ironically looks like a fusion of the 2). So yeah this is just my theory although we'll have to see in possibly September if Toby decides to do a 7th anniversary for Undertale where he plays Chapter 2 and shows a little of Chapter 3 like he did last year with Chapter 2, either that or we'll just have to wait 1 or 2 more years for Chapter 3, 4 and 5 to come out and we'll see but for now this is my thought on the case.

The notion that lying, deceiving, and hiding is inherent proof that a person is evil is..... an odd notion, to me. Even odder that I see it in so many places, from so many people. Can you not think of a scenario where a good person might lie, deceive, or withhold info? Is it hard to imagine a good person who wants the best for everyone and regularly engages in deceptive manipulation toward that end? It's much easier to understand Ralsei's actions if you try to understand who he is and what he's about: he repeatedly makes it clear that he despises violence, and generally tends to give people the benefit of the doubt, even known "villains" like Lancer. (in early Chapter 1, that is, when he was still a villain in any respect.) Just about everything he says and everything he does paints him as a person who just wants to be friends with everyone, and just wants to help everyone. Even watching people like Susie defy his ideals, he never thinks of trying to hurt or abandon Susie; he just works around the problem, warning the enemies so they don't get hurt. Ralsei's a perfect poster child for "the benevolent liar". He's obviously withholding intel, and it stands to reason he may be lying or telling half-truths, but if he's doing so, it's surely for the good of the people, unless you choose to believe it's ALL a ruse to the last action, and every single bit of the Ralsei we've seen is one massive, elaborate lie. Not a theory I'm ever a fan of, personally. Good storytelling should give the slightest foreshadowing to things like that. "Why did Ralsei withhold the details of The Roaring until it was almost too late?" Well, I can say right away it's NOT because he secretly WANTS The Roaring, or he would've waited til after Berdly caused it. He never had to say anything, he could've just kept silent and let it happen, keeping his own hands clean. I see two possible reasons Ralsei might say what he said, when he said it: 1) Ralsei just wants peace and cheer for everyone, and bringing up The Roaring would be some serious bad vibes. What's the point in bringing up such a scary and sorrowful topic? We're already working toward the right goals, why do we need to know the exact stakes? It's pretty simple reasoning, and it fits in with his "do no harm" personality pretty well. He brought it up only when it was clear things would be MUCH worse if he DIDN'T; he doesn't want to bring the mood down, but he's not an idiot. 2) Everything Ralsei said about The Roaring at the end of Chapter 2, was a lie. You can't cause the end of the world by opening Dark Fountains; Ralsei made all that up, because he doesn't want Berdly opening more Fountains. Why not? Well... that's not clear. It would have to be something Ralsei hasn't told us yet, something we don't explicitly know about yet. Given what we know of Ralsei, it would have to either be something very bad for someone, or it would have to tie in to some motivation of his that we haven't been made aware of. Something other than "help people". A thought occurs to me: Ralsei seems very brave and unshakeable, completely unfazed by all he sees. He takes a death-threat from King with a smile, he's not alarmed by Spamton NEO while Susie and Kris are VERY alarmed... I can't really think of any instance where he shows the least bit of fear or cowardice, at all. Combined with his idolizing Kris and Susie (note that both of their Teas heal him for 120 HP) and his statement that he's been standing alone in his castle for a very long time... It's possible BOTH of Ralsei's prophecies are total fabrications. "Dark Fountains are opening up! They'll bring the end of the world! You, brave lightners, plus me, are the only ones who can stop it!" It could all just be a lie invented for the sake of going on a fun adventure with some cool friends.

So I actually have quite an interesting theory on Deltarune. The world was all fabricated by a "puppet master" to basically take control of Kris, and potentially end the world. The first bit of evidence is with Ralsei. Its a bit wierd how ralsei looks incredibly similar to asriel, almost as if to draw kris in. Its even stated in the opening that you have no control, you are basically following a script, kind of like a puppet. Every Character that you meet in Deltarune is basically a lie, being used in order to manipulate kris into doing something. Whats even weirder is the fact that someone or something seemingly has control over kris after you seal the dark fountain. This leads me to believe that there are 3 entities at play in deltarune. You the player, basically "kris". The Entity that is manipulating you into sealing the dark fountains, or the "puppetmaster", and The entity that "Frees" the npc's from the simulation, just for them to be used under a different set of strings (Jevil, Spamton). It would be interesting to see how this turns out.

I personally don't find Ralsei not mentioning the Roaring by name earlier on suspicious at all. He already explained the basic gist that "too many dark fountains = bad" at the very start to Kris and Susie, and he figured that Queen already understood what it was. He explains the very specific details of what happens during the Roaring at a good time, because if he had dropped all of that on Kris and Susie right at the start, it would have been too much. They didn't know what dark fountains were. They didn't know what DARKNERS were. As for the dialogue after Spamton, I read Ralsei's words as being more so "nothing can be done, so try your best not to dwell on it" as opposed to "Everything is fine! Stay happy! Don't think about it!" His facial expressions specifically sell me on this. He looks genuinely remorseful, but is trying to keep Kris and Susie from dwelling on the horrifying thing they just witnessed that they can't possibly understand. But he can. And he doesn't want them to be cursed with that knowledge. In my opinion, not evil. He just feels like a poor guy saddled with dark secrets and knowledge he doesn't want to share if he doesn't have to. Not just for saving face, but simply because of the nature of those secrets.

I love your speculation! But if I may add something. I'd like you to look at the Kris Genocide route where he fights Ralsei and Susie! There is a route where you kill Susie first and then fight him next, he will talk about how he was using the 'heroes' and how he made up the story. Although it could just be him spitting out things to put Kris in his place, but to see his true power was quite the sight. (There's also a route during this where you cry *ACT* the entire time and dodge his attacks)

My theory is that Ralsei is a somewhat "true" darkner, made by pure darkness, so he able to move from one dark world to another. My theory why Ralsei looks just like Asriel and he is so cute and adorable because he made not by some item (like other darkners), but by hidden desires of Kris and Susie. there is a theory about "Ralsei is what Kris wanted to be", and he wanted to be like his old brother, Asriel. Fluffy, cute and kind goat-boy. While Susie was all her life alone, so she wanted to have a kind, forgiving friend like Ralsei is. The reason why Ralsei does not explain us everything is... the game isnt finished yet! The plot developing over time, so other pieces of lore and plot will be shown much, much later in a future chapters. so there are no proofs that Ralsei is evil and no proof that he is not.

I actually have a theory as to why ralesi just roams around the cyber world without turning to stone or anything. The dark fountain where ralsei is from is so dark that it can sustain any being from different dark worlds. Since he's from there. Maybe that rule applies to him. Maybe ralsei was created from said fountain and his essence is dark enough to travel to other dark worlds and still "belong" Just a thought

I don't think Ralsei wants his own fountain closed. My thought is that maybe the Roaring is only a problem if dark fountains are opened /inside/ dark worlds, which is why he panicked and told us about it when Berdly was about to do so in chapter two. Up until that point, no one (Kris, Susie, etc) had even considered that possible, so he didn't feel the need to mention it. After all, dark worlds are already dark when compared to the light world, a dark world produced from inside a dark world would be even darker.

What makes this whole thing weirder is that he knew that the chapter 2 dark world would be created, as he tells Kris that they can keep sparing enemies in the future. So, he had to have known that the knight would create a second fountain. It seems kinda weird, and Ralsei doesn't really mention the knight at all in ch1. Makes me wonder if he knows that 7 fountains will be created in total correlating to each chapter because of the prophecy.

I have a theory on why Ralsei hides such important details and why the legend isnt very known. Maybe the more people who know about the Roaring the more power it gains. But this doesnt work if the person doesnt know the entire legend (like what are the titans, what the angels heaven is or whats it prupose) or if the legend is modified (like hiding details and adding others that arent true). I think thats why Ralsei tries to hide such important details. Hell maybe he doesnt even know the entire thing and thats why it appears like hes hiding some parts. This could explain why the knight creates dark fountains: they arent aware of the legend and does it for fun, as an escape from the real world and a way of having adventures, like Susie and Kris do About the thing that spamton says: it could be just rumor, heck maybe gaster told him about the roaring idk But then, why doesnt Ralsei tell a modified version of the legend to everyone, and spread awareness? I think is because he is afraid of too many people knowing about it. Some people may begin to search the true version of the story or even the entirety of it. And if this information gets to the ears of the wrong people they may start to get lighteners to do dark fountains. Just to see everyting go batshit

For me, this also has to do with convenience. Since the game is being released in chapters is logical that Toby Fox is giving us clues and lore drop by drop. Is the same thing with that weird library guy. Even though, there has to be an in-game explanation for this, why he just not tells us eveything and let us decide? There are lots of posible reasons why he is doing this... but for me he is not evil, I don´t see Toby doing this kind of twists... besides, he is putting it suspicious on purpose... I think Ralsei is trying to help us. Maybe the truth is harsh, and he wants his friends to be happy the most time possible. The only thing that is clear is that he has a secret agenda, but we don´t know what that agenda is, so we can´t judge yet... Right now I trust the guy, I think he is good and he is doing things the best way he can. This make me think about Sans in Undertale, he could manipulate a bit time, and he knew all what he did and he explains us eveything until the end. He acted sus, appearing everywhere and out of nowhere... Ralsei is analogous to Flowey and not Sans, but Sans is an example that making things that don´t have and explanaiton and keeping some secrets could have a logic and a reason and don´t necesary mean that the characters are evil.

If Jaru^2's is any close to the truth, Ralsei is actually a version of Flowey, in the sense that Ralsei is a darkner made from the object in the closet that has had the ashes of Asriel sprinkled over (just like the golden flower had the ashes of Asriel sprinkled at the garden of Asgore and while the soul of the monster lingered on the flower, Chara's soul remained there until the body of Frisk fell from above). That of course if Asriel was killed accidentally or not and everybody thinks he's at the campus college when he actually is dead. Ralsei is a complicated character but it has many death-flags all over his body that I doubt he will betray us in any form. That he will sacrifice himself and that he's aware of that because he has relived that other times before bespeaks of how he tries to make the most of his relationship with the main characters. Theories abound as usual. I like your take on the matter though. I'm open to whatever will become real in the next Deltarune chapters 😊

A reason why ralsei could be withholding the roaring and brushing off spamton neo is because ralsei wants the player or Kris to still enjoy the "game" when if he tells them earlier the player/Kris might consider it a responsible and not a world where they just have fun. He wants the player to keep his world as a game and not a threat and Kris is the vessel for the player so Kris can know in the sections where the soul goes off to others but the player can't know much

I feel like one of the best ways to describe why it feels like hes self inserted is the way his name is said in the lengend, both kris and susie have 1 word names while ralsei's completely breaks the flow most of the legend has, this might not mean anything but his name does feel inserted in some way, the flow would be better kept if it refered to him as a darkener or the dark prince instead of "a prince of the dark" which completely breaks the flow the legend has and feels inserted in

I have a weird theory, what if Ralsei is actually a fallen/depowered titan? that would explain why and how he can travel and survive in different dark worlds, since he doesn't want competition he wants to seal every dark fountain but his own in order to get to his full potential. It may or may not be the best theory out there but I think it might explain his suspicious actions so far and potentially set him up as the final enemy in chapter 7. the point that it would be kinda similar to what flowey did in Undertale is a good point and I also think that Toby wouldn't do the same thing twice like that but I think it is at the very least a somewhat interesting theory
